Moving - Aug 18, 2006

Grabbing the last box from the back of the large removal van, Felinxis placed it on the ground and surveyed his new home. His old apartment in the city had been uncomfortable, shabby and all around bad. So he sold the dank apartment, packed up and moved to a nice, two-storey home in the country.

“Hey, hey Felinxis! Is this our new home?” queried a small feien fairy that sat atop Felinxis’ shoulder. “Where’s my room gonna be?” continued Anthemius.

“You’re too small to have your own room.” came the reply from the tall elven male. He didn’t have time for the small, semi-annoying fairy right now. “Your room will be… wherever I think it should.” Felinxis concluded, picking up a box and entering the house. It was time to unpack.

“I want to choose where I will live!” argued Anthemius, as he fluttered into the house, following in Felinxis’ weary stride.

“Fine.” said Felinxis without a care. The feien changed his mind all the time. He just wanted it to be quiet for once. “Do me a favor, help me with the boxes.” Felinxis grinned a hidden grin. The fairy would be there for hours trying to lift the box. That gave him plenty of time to unpack his mass of boxes. “I never knew I had so much stuff…” He uttered as he began.

Thankfully all of the large furniture had been moved into the house. All Felinxis had to do was unpack the smaller things. A job that would prove to be more tiring than one would think. After hours Felinxis was down to the last box. It just happened to be the one Anthemius was still trying to lift.

“Just wait, I’ll get it!” cried the Feien in determination.

“Oh I am sure you will!” Felinxis said in mock-encouragement, slowly moving around the box, where the fairy could not see him. The Elf bent forward and lifted the box, looking at the Fairy as it smiled wide in pleasure. Anthemius cried out in pride.

“Look at me! Look, see! I can lift this box.” Anthemius shouted proudly.

“Mmmhmm… you certainly did. Now let’s get this inside.” suggested Felinxis as he tried hard to hold back a small giggle.

The two lifted the house and unpacked it. Placing everything where it ought to go. At least where Anthemius thought it should anyways. Finally everything was finished, so, tired from his days work, Felinxis trudged up the stairs and collapsed on his bed.

In the corner of his eye there was a small shimmer of light. It was just enough to attract his attention. Felinxis swiveled on the bed and with a few quick steps, was where he saw the faint light had come from. “How very peculiar.” He uttered as he examined the seemingly flawless wall. “I wonder…” and he tapped the wooden walls with the back of his finger. A hollow sound was all that answered, but it was all he needed to know, and he headed downstairs.

Moments later he returned, hammer in hand, and his little Feien Fairy hovering in the background.

“Whatcha gonna do Feli?” Asked Anthemius, using his nickname for his bonded guardian. An “Oooh” followed shortly after when the fairy realized what his master was going to do.

With a few carefully aimed hits, Felinxis had made a hole in way big enough so he could pry off the rest of the wooden frame. It only took him a few moments to remove the rest of the wood, and so revealing a small room, only big enough for two people to stand in.

In the darkest corner shone a small, crystal, giving off a beautiful glow, and Felinxis was immediately entranced. The elf heard a small noise from behind him and knew it was the Feien, also entranced by the small crystal that seemed to be shining in the darkness.

Felinxis bent forward and pick the small ornament, and turned it over in his hands. It was the shape of a dove in mid flight, made of crystal; it was elegant and looked to be perfectly carved, giving off a soft shine whichever way he turned it. Attached to it was a white ribbon, which looked to make the ornament into a necklace.

Without thinking Felinxis left the small, hidden room and, with the crystal dove in his hands and Anthemius flapping behind him, grabbed a small cushion and gently placed the jewel upon the satin pillow, all the time wondering what this small discovery could bring.
