10,000 days / both parts of the song are great. Maynard has a way with words for sure, both in expressing them lyrically and busting them out vocally.

Alot of people confuse 10,000 days as a strictly song to mother, much like "The Noose", but it's much deeper than that. People also confuse it as him having a softer appreciation for his mother's religion, which I think isn't true. Anyone that says that might not fully understand the meanings of the words.

All in all, the song is mult-layered and faceted. Truely excellent. Someone also told me that wings pt.1 and viginti tres played back to back have the same runtime as wings pt.2, and the end of the "combined" song syncs up. It was pretty cool, but not as cool as watching the wizard of Oz with Dark side of the moon.

Also, if you're interested, you need to play Viginti Tres first, and then Wing for Marie, while you play 10,000 days at the same time.

That's strange, since I never heard any song off of 10,000 Days besides Vicarious. Both parts 1 & 2 of Wings for Marie seem to make me feel part of the sadness that Maynard has with his Mother passing away. Ofcouse I'll never feel anywhere close to his sadness due to his loss, but Maynard has such a good way of expressing the lyrics in Tool's songs to a way where the listeners can really take a part of the song, which is why Maynard is the best vocalist in any band in my opinion.

Yeah, I listened to that, it's not because of the way it sounds that I think that these songs syncing together is astounishing, it did sound good, but what was even better was the fact that Tool put 3 of their songs together to make another masterpiece, because 3 songs syncing is not a coincidence.

Holy ******** s**t!, holy ******** s**t!, holy ******** s**t!... That is brilliant! Ok so after reading this and trying it out I looked into the number 23... Viginti Tres. It is insane who many times the number 23 shows up in places... strange places... that seem to be connected.... in some way. A friend and I just spent about 2 hours talking about it and analyzing all these crazy places that the 23 surfaced.

Let's see, Wings pt 1 and pt 2 and Viginti Tres(23)...

Lets see where to start.... There was a "secret" about the 10,000 Day's album mentioned in the January '06, the one where Blair uses a Ouija board. Around the halfway mark of the "Ouija Board Working(fragments)..." display there is a question that reads: "Q: Can you tell me something about the 'terrible' secret that one of the songs on the new record speaks of?".... The answer is: A: * ** TESTS ON D. Well, later, in the March newsletter it opens with the same question and the answer with the omitted parts submitted this time... A: A ET TESTS ON D... when you hover your mouse over it, it rearranges to read: A:ROSETTA STONED!

Also, further down the list of questions on the January letter there is another question that reads: With regard to the same song. What does the letter "D" you pointed out stand for?... to which the answer is: A: Dave... Psalm 23 is "a song of David". And even the last line of the psalm has a connection to the lyrics of Wings 1 and 2. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

Next there is a part in the newsletter where a random message is spelled, the message is: M33IXOMAXIP... Then the question right after that is: Q:What other number do you associate this with?... the answer is vague: A: **(omitted but correct)......... it seems to me that the answer is 23.

So on with the "puzzle"....

The Rosetta Stone is a granite stone found in Egypt with writing on it in 2 languages, Egyptian and Greek, using 3 scripts. The Rosetta Stone was written in three scripts so that the priests, government officials, and rulers of Egypt could read what it said. The first script was Hieroglyphic, which was the script used for important or religious documents. The second was Demotic Egyptian, which was the common script of Egypt. The third was Greek, which was the language of the rulers of Egypt at that time.

So this genius "bonus" "hidden" track has 23 written all over it. Think of it as if it set up like the Rosetta Stone... 2 of the same(Wings 1 and 2 just as with the Egytian Hieroglyphs and Demotic Egyptian) with another totally different one (Viginti Tres just as Greek). We put them together as you would the Giza pyramids... arrange them so that the two smaller shorter ones are on the same side together while the larger one is by itself.

You are right that three songs that synch up to form another "hidden" track is not by some mere coincidence. 23 seems to be everywhere and it also seems that it went to another creative extent to tell us that, through the music of Tool.

It's weird how you can hear a song 10, 000 times on a CD, but it's a real novelty to hear it on the radio.

i like listening to the two songs back to back... wings/ 10000 days are like the evolved form of parabol/parabola... cuz 10000 days has a bit of heavyness to it at the end but not enough to call the whole song heavy like parabola... but still, awesome songs

Coincidental, maybe, maybe not. Significant. I don't think so.

I think there's an interview somewhere where he says all that is bullshit and over analyzing. Don't take my word for it though. I might have just imagined it all up.

This song is so beautiful!!! So is for 10,000 days, the second part of the song. I mean, the whole cd is like wow but the song it self, both parts are so gorgeous. The lyrics and the music, it's like a masterpiece. I love them both. I really can't put it into words on how this songs are moving.

Some station played Rosetta Stoned too, I heard. They'll end up fired. Haha.

Wings for Marie didn't really do anything for me. I've been underwhelmed by the entire album, to be honest.

Didnt they put out vicarious on the radio first i remember hearing it.
