My choir isn't a school choir or anything, it's a choir that gets fundraising and all of that...so there are scholarships and everyone goes on every tour, which is awesome.
so anyways, last year we went to JAPAN for two weeks and i can sincerely say that it was the most amazing experience of my life. we performed in two choral festivals, a symphony, and a bunch of smaller concerts. we also did two different homestays. i can't even explain how amazing it was, but japan is such an amazing place to go to.
next summer we're going to seoul, south korea! so my choir is amazing. oh yeah, and this year we went to salt lake city, utah. not taht exciting, but it was fun.
CHORAL TOURS ARE AMAZING!!!!

Every four years, my choir takes an out of state trip. Since I'm a freshman, I can go my senior year as well, so I didn't join the choir to our NYC trip this year. Wish I had, though.

Sadly, during the NYC trip, a group fo girls were caught smoking/drinking, so we aren't going to take ANY more trips. We're all hoping that the director'll change his mind though...I'd hate to miss out on the trips cause of some stupid people that will have graduated within the next 2 years.

My high school and middle school choir director refused to do overnight trips. It was all because of a group of high schoolers who completely trashed their hotel rooms. Idiots. >.< Although we did have some pretty fun trips anyway. Dollywood rocks. XD

Last year, the Capitol District Youth Chorale went to DisneyWorld to sing in a choir competition. We also performed on stage in front of Space Mountain and did a dancing workshop with Minnie Mouse! My sister lost her voice, even though I'd been screaming more and louder than her, and we each got three free t-shirts!

This past year my high school choir went to San Antonio for a music festival/competition. Getting to walk around by ourselves on the Riverwalk was great! Our Concert Choir got 1 Superior and 2 Excellents, making an overall Excellent; a less than satisfactory rating in our minds. Our Women's Choir and Vocal Jazz Ensemble got straight Superiors! On the other hand, the Men's Choir got straight Qualities... rofl Our choir director was kind of ticked off at them because they didn't put forth any effort. Other than working our butts off at night rehearsels for five weeks before and a twelve hour bus ride, the trip went okay.

We got to go to Cedar Pointe for the Music in The Parks Festival and I was in a wheelchair so I got to cut to the front of every line and didn't have to wait hardly at all. Then my choir won outstanding soloist, best female choir and best overall choir. It was an awesome day. But then some of the people in band were annoying me and because they got second. They were like, "Well it was our first compitition" and I'm like, "It was our first compitition too, and we got first!" It was kinda mean to say, but they're usually indifferent towards the choir anyway, acting like being a singer isn't the same as being a musician.

Mmm....

Well, spoiled, catholic, private school choir --> Hawaii. Totally unrelated to anything musical, however. Plus, it was super expensive, so all of us middle class kids on financial aid didn't get to go. The original plan was to go to Paris....

And we went to perform at Disneyland, for their "Magic Music Days" celebration. But since we do live in L.A., it's not as big a deal to us as say, a choir that bussed cross-country for it....
It's lots of fun though! This year, we had the first performance of the day. So after our performance, we changed into normal clothes and spent the rest of the day roaming around Disneyland with our buddies, plus the band people, who are there for a workshop. And then, we always watch the fireworks. It was super-spectacular this year, because of Disney's 50th anniversary. And then, those of us who weren't signed out by our parents pile back onto the bus and drive back to school.
And from the P.O.V. of a hopeless romantic....
After fun day together, people always end up confessing to each other and/or kissing during the fireworks or whatnot.

Yeah, this outside chorus I'm in went to NYC this year for the ACDA conference. I've also been to Hawaii and Oregon with them. But what's really awesome is that we're going to Lifzig (I can't spell the town) German next year! It's so awesome!

But I think the best trip I took was the Oregon one. Like, there was only a small number of that went and the actual concert was the most amazing concert I have ever sang!

Our chorus doesn't go anywhere. Most people just go on the band trips, because they're in both.
