Thanks! biggrin I must admit, gifs are my little obsession...
If only I knew enough about them to make them smaller without losing too much quality. I should have paid more attention in computing. sweatdrop

I make gifs now & then, but I usually cheat & use the Wizard in PSP7, & just stick an image effect in. I'm not patient enough to make that many frames! smile Sometimes I have been surprised to see that using the "Erode" filter on my image will make it look clearer when I resize it down small. Not sure why this should be, but it does mean I can make my image smaller than normal & still be pretty clear. This doesn't work well on drawn images, though.

Hmm..interesting..the erode filter to make it clearer when smaller..That's different..I don't have many helpfult ools to making gifs. Photoshop and Imageready..are usually what I have to stick to. And that can't do many good effects. Of course..Flash..which I only have at school unless I want to use the super old version on the computer downstairs and put up with it.. So any gifs I make are severly limited.. If gifs are Roobarb's obssesion, I guess HTML and CSS are mine. blaugh Although I only play around when I have nothing else to do..besides maths. Quadratic Equations are terrible when you missed several of the first lessons..

I always meant to learn Flash! Someone bought me an older copy awhile ago but I've never sat down and used it... Even though it is the gifs of the future.
I use Photoshop and Image Ready too and I thought the effects on Image Ready were a bit limited - so I made my own using Photoshop effects. It takes bloody ages though! But for some reason I don't mind. sweatdrop It's just so nice when it all comes together in the end...

Wind-Whisper Roobarb Another commission complete: The only problem? It's a little big. I believe Gaia has certain restrictions... sad But any smaller and it's unreadable/grainy so here it is. If you like I can make it bigger! xp But that wouldn't really help anyone. That...is the most brilliant DW montage/banner/animation I have ever seen! Big Bravos! i love the intensity in their faces and the ridiculousness of the quotes stuffed together.

I have an old version of flash. and a 30 day trial edition of the newest one..but I wouldnt' use it that much..so Imageready is better..it is limited..but I'll play around with any effects that cam be made with photoshop as well. Good idea Roobarb - thanks! I find Imageready has a really..I don't know..it's not as smooth. it's sharp. If youget what I mean..

Renaissance I'd like a copy of the epic one without paul the jerk i mean MgGann Without McGann? Hmmm... I'll have to dig out the original frames... PM me about it to remind me if I haven't got back to you by Wednesday (running around a lot at the mo - not very organised - but I'll get stuff done so long as people keep nudging me) TO ISIDAR: I suspect Flash would be a lot smoother but I still haven't managed to use it. I only got onto ImageReady because I broke my version of Gif Builder. Now THAT was an old program... but then I'm not good at moving on. I worked out ImageReady because I already knew Photoshop. If I hadn't I may never have made gifs again. That's how pathetic I am at using new software. The handy thing about Photoshop is the layers. I know other programs have layers now - but I still like Photoshop the best. You can use all the glow effects and mess around with the opacity and things and get some really nice transitions for gifs. If you have a couple of hours to spare... confused

One thing you could do to reduce the file size is, you could have the entire quote each Doctor says disappear all at once rather than "rewinding" to disappear word by word. If you add that up across 10 Doctors & many words...that's quite a lot of frames you save.

I have/had several other programs on my computer, but out of all of them, I use photoshop the most, and by far prefer it. I'm goign to suprise my chinese teacher tomorow when I hand my part of the project in..(she asked for a front cover and an editor page, for the class fashion magazine project. I uhh..spent a few hours on the front cover..and did a quick effective job with the editor page which included finding a bunch of pictures of envelopes, placing them at random on the page, deleting any adresses on them (like Washington D.C. on one..) adding shadow..and using the -great..forgot what it's called..well it is late..- colour thing in blending options, as well as adding texture to the sheet of writing..and then mum kept trying the change some of the wording..good thing I had it saved.. If ever I get bored, I'll create a gif with photoshop..playing with the effects for transistions... I'm counting on that to happen sometime during the holidays..so I'd better plan what I'll do! Or I could go over HTMl again..oh, wait..isn't our Multimedia class learning that next semester? Dont' tell me I'm ahead of the class too far again... Eirwyn ..that's quite a lot of frames you save. Yeah, whoah..Roobarb, you must have had a ton of frames..especially with transitions, and tweening..

Yeah tell me about it! sweatdrop Sounds like you're going to be (or possibly are?) a computer genius Isidar! Keep it up cos I got put off by this new computing teacher lady who really didn't like me and so I gave it up (though not after TROUNCING her low expectations on my exam results!). I met my previous teacher afterwards though and he was well annoyed that I'd given up. And I am too a bit.

I don't know how you can find the patience - or the time - to do that.. I suppose the end result would motivate you..
Wow, thanks. I think I mostly picked it up with my siblings..who all studied some kind of computer course in university. I was learning flash at the same time my brother was..years and years ago..and html too..
What I found slightly annoying today in multimedia, was the fact that both Timelady and my mouse wasn't working (they had just moved our computers, leading to a confused few minutes while we figured out which computer had whose stuff on it. Then, after we swapped seats, we had to navigate our way with only the keyboard and ability to click the apple at the very corner of the screen (mac computers). So we had to use another computer. Problem? Our work was on these particular computers, and the folder on the school server had mysteriously dissapeared. We had to log into the server, then open our files and save onto the server. It took about half an hour to work out exactly how to navigate a mac with only the menu and the keyboard..we left a ton of thigns open on the computers..-no way to close them. It was fun..I like logical things.
If you gave up computing, what do you do now?

Moi? I'm off to study film in Manchester. The writing side. I've always loved writing.
I still use my computer (it's a Mac - Mac's rule!) and I do a bit of computerish stuff (graphics stuff obviously...) but I never kept it on as a subject at school and I don't plan to use it in university. My family's very computerish too. All my uncles and my parents have computer based jobs. I love computers.
I don't know how to do any programming or take it to bits and rebuild it or anything like that though.

That would be interesting..I could always ask my brothers to teach me..but I wouldn't actuall do something like that (taking it to bits and rebuilding etc.) very often.. Cool.. hey, between the three of us (Timelady, you and myself) we have a director, editor(well..I supose you could call me that..or special effects..) and a writer.. just an intersting little side note that came to mind.
I'm planning to do some sort of computer course in university. but not in year 11 or 12, because the IT subjects they have running for them...don't really interest me. I'll keep playing around on the side though, at home on my computer and stuff.. I like technology..well..when it works properly, that is.

Roobarb Moi? I'm off to study film in Manchester. The writing side. I've always loved writing. Woo! as isi said. I intend to be a director when i grow up. and nothing is going to stop me. not even an invasion of daleks. but on another note.... Roobarb I still use my computer (it's a Mac - Mac's rule!). macs are evil bassas. i hope they all die. except for yours. i'm sure it must be an exception to the rule. perhaps it's just the school macs, the school macs and all laptops (inc. IBMs) all hate my guts.
