Well seeing as this thread is for manitobans to chat on how 'bout I throw out a topic for some people. Seeing that most seem to live winnipeg, what are everyones veiws on the topic of cruise night?(For those that don't know what it is, cruise night happens every sunday in the summer, people take their modified and custom cars out and show them off. Loud music and street racing seems to follow it as well. Last week a death happened when 3 cars were racing and sideswiped a fourth car.) So what is the general opinion of Gaians to this? Should they get their own strip? Should it be outlawed? Or was it just an isolated event?

Well it looks like we manitobains are up the creek without a paddle come july 1st. That is the day that the devil lake treatment plant will start sending polluted water into the Red river which will ruin our great summer getaway Lake Winnipeg. So it looks like the U.S.A doesn't care about a scrap of paper called the north americain water treaty. What our MPs think So what do most of you guys think about this? Should we fight this more or lay down and take it? Comments from non-manitobains are welcomed

I too am a little upset by the water treatment thing. How is doing something knowing that it will negitively affect a neighbouring country a wise idea? Surely when they take it to the Supreme Court someone will wise up to this and put a stop to it. But in the mean time does anyone know what we can do to protest it?

So sometimes I enjoy listening to CJOB and the other day they were talking about street racing. There was a guest that was talking about how they are dealing with it in their city. Not only do they ticket the drivers they also ticket those who gather to watch. It makes sense as a deterent but if they were to pass a law like that here in Winnipeg what would that mean to people like those who gather on Portage Ave just to watch the "pretty cars"?
Personally I don't think that speeding tickets are enough or that effective for that matter. I think that it is more like free publicity. Why you ask? Well for obvious reasons, have you ever stopped and checkout the car that has been pulled over? Just something more to look at. Ahh the joys of Sunday Night "Racing".

Some are saying that if we had sunday shopping it would be a little less racing since there would be something else to do. Come on, Winnipeg is a major city in Manitoba, but how many major city do you know of that shuts down at 9 o'clock. The only problem with ticketing those involed and watching is how to you prove those that are watching? How do you know which are just walking and who's watching?
On a side note...Good to see ya posting donuts biggrin

Boy was I ever disappointed today. They decided to open the Assiniboine Park Zoo to everyone today and we thought it would be a good idea to check it out with the kids. smile We expected it to be busy. confused Traffic was insane. We inched our way through it all. Half an hour in we almost turned around but decided to tough it out. With some relief we entered the park only to be directed through a detour that lead us out of the park. Yup. stressed whee scream eek I cannot proper express my frustation. Let me also add that there were 4 children in the van and the oldest was 5. AAAAAAaagghhh. Oh happy day. Let's just say that if the fireworks are rained out I will scream.
