Plan B (now Plan B 2.0) By Lester R. Brown
It's incredibly really, it shows all the troubles facing our society today, the environmental problems as well as the failed states, and when all hope seems lost he shows what we can do to fix the problem, a solution that doesn't require any new innovations or anything like that.
The solution is actually here now, rather than a few years now as is the case with the hydrogen economy or hot fusion (well, more like a few decades really).
I got a good kick out of it, I really got a lot of interesting info out of it.

Wow, there are SO many books that I want to read. >_<
