"Awesome," Kaveri says with a sharklike grin, "what's your duplex number? I'll write you a letter sometime later and drop it off. I'm in forty-four -- the one with the red bike sitting outside."
And it is true that perhaps some damage could be done while the doctors are distracted with Kaveri's letter chain. It was hard to tell what was going to happen now, as these plans were still just being hatched. "I look forward to your involvement -- if things go just right, there's going to be a lot of entertaining things going on as a result."
She glances down at her plate -- she really hasn't touched her meal that often, having gotten so interested in talking with Jamal and telling him of her plan. Stroking her chin thoughtfully, Kaveri adds, "and as this keeps going, I'll probably come up with even more ideas to ******** with these guys. This is kind of just something to get the ball rolling."

"Duplex 7."
He rubbed his sparce moustache as he thought about this little plan. There was sure to be a place where it could truely become something worth-while, he was sure. Jamal hadn't become the leader of a gang on good looks alone; he was smarter than one might think, it just depended on the topic. Conspiracy was one thing he was quite keen on.
"You ain't da only one who wants ta mess wit' da staff...I been trying ta think of ways since I got herr, but more now then b'fo. Dis be a start, at least. We could cause a lot o' trouble...who else you talked to? I know some peeps dat might be cool wit' doin' s**t wit' us." A psuedo-gang...this could be fun.

Given the low number of Jamal's duplex, Kaveri concludes that he's been on the island for a very long time. She nods, mentally noting it with a wry smile. She intertwines her fingers again and holds her hands before her face.
"So far, I just talked to a guy named Zach about it -- I don't know if you know him, he has horns and one arm -- but I plan to spread the plans around to other people as I meet them. I have a lot of people I've yet to run into, I haven't been here for very long." Her eyes dart sideways, and she pauses for a moment to think about something as she lowers her chin beneath her hands to hide the bottom half of her face. "But since you said that some people actually like these ******** doctors, I have to be really careful with who I'm telling this s**t to. If you can give me some names and duplex numbers of people I can trust, I'll drop by their house sometime..."
"I'm interested in hearing your ideas sometime," she says, angling her head to the side, "I could incorporate them into mine and we could really stir the s**t good and stick it to those assholes."

"Zach ain't a bad guy," Jamal said with a slight nod. Jamal didn't particularly LIKE him, but felt more neutrally towards him than disliked him. Zach had never given him a reason to not like him...Jamal just thought he was sort of a wuss.
He pondered a moment, then leaned forward and started to name off people he figured would be interested in this little plan, ticking each off on his fingers as though it would help him remember who he had mentioned.
"There's Antony...she lives in 30. I know she'd be up fo' messin' wit' staff...'n' I think Chubbs 'n' Joli might be fo' it too. They're both in 25, I think." He had to pause there, as he wasn't sure if that was right. He knew they were 'involved'.
"Vasile might be up fo' it too, but I ain't sure what duplex he's in. He got silver fur 'n' long white hair. I think he's turnin' inta a fox of some kind....Anjali in 15 would be up fo' it too. She ain't really a fighter, but I think she'd like doin' yo' idea enough. Oh, and Pyroth too. I ain't sure where he lives eitha' but he got real long red hair, brown fur, and wears a headband thing wit' a feather. Indian lookin, I think."
He was about to mention Awen, but he actually wasn't sure where she stood anymore. It seemed like she felt obligate to be NICE to Aubrey and that honestly put Jamal off a great deal. He didn't know about all the other stuff that was going on currently with her and Sabin either. Jamal pursed his lips.
"Don't talk ta a girl named Lauren. She got short blonde hair 'n' orange eyes...kinda young 'n' scrawny. She acts like Moreau's a ********' god. There's also a chick named Lily. She got red hair wit' green skin patches. She used ta be a staff peep but she got thrown in wit' us cause she messed up somethin' We ain't sure where she stands."
He mentally ran through his list of people again, trying to decide if he should bother mentioning the questionables, then figured he ought to just in case. "Ambrose...he looks like a ********' wolf wit' blonde hair...he's ********' stupid as hell 'n' gets along wit' Aubrey, but I don't think he likes the docs much mo' than anyone else so he -might- be a'ight. I don't trust 'im though. There's also Awen...she got blue hair...turnin' inta a fish of some kind. She didn't like the docs none until they saved her when she tried ta escape. I dunno 'bout her anymo'. She's in duplex 21. Oh yeah...'n' Chana too...she's friend wit' dat Lily chick. Chana got curly brown hair 'n' big teeth...I think she said she was goin' beaver. I ain't sure if ya should talk ta her cause she's friend wit' Lily."

"I've met all three of them," Kaveri nods at the mention of Antony, Chubbs, and Joli, "...although I haven't actually formally met Antony, I ran into her at that beach bar place and walked her home 'cause she was drunk as hell. But she certainly seems like the type of person who'd be into this."
She smiles and nods -- it's good to know that these folks have Jamal's good word. "Vasile, oh..! I saw him at that bar, too. We didn't talk or anything, though. If I see him again, I'll talk to him." Kaveri hadn't met the other two, but would keep them in mind.
"Wouldn't the latter one possibly be bitter towards the doctors for throwing her out and doing this s**t to her?" Kaveri asks, tilting her head. If she ever ran into Lily, she would probably have to do some probing to see what she thinks about this whole mess... although she's rather apprehensive of telling her anything at all, should they ever meet.
"Alright. Of those, I've only briefly ran into Ambrose - but thanks," she said, nodding her head in approval with a bit of laughter.
If she can get all of these people into her scheme, she'd be having a lot of letters to write. Where would she get more paper..?

Jamal snorted with amusement, cracking the first real grin he'd shown this entire time at the mention of drunk Antony. "Dat sounds like Antony a'ight...dat girl loves her liquor...she shoulda invited me though." He chuckled and rubbed his chin a moment at the mention of Lily.
"Well, ain't no one real sure 'bout where dat ex-staff chick stands. See...she got thrown in wit' us cause she broke some s**t, I guess...but I ain't sure if she still got ties to da lab o' not. She was livin' wit' us fo' awhile wit'out tellin' us who she was. Seems shady ta' me. She might be a good liar 'n' put on a show 'bout bein' on our side." He shrugged; personally, he didn't trust her. Once a staff member, always a staff member. "She thought da transfo'mations were int'restin..." That statement was more or less spat out with as much contempt as he could muster.

"I think you might have liked it -- the wolf guy started a dumb high school game of truth or dare and it just went all over the damn place -- had some entertaining moments. That girl deepthroated a banana, for ******** sake!" She laughs at the memory, leaning on the back of her chair and resting an elbow on the chair's back.
"Right," Kaveri nods thoughtfully, "probably best to just steer clear of her then. I don't want to take any risks getting this exposed." She rolled her eyes, biting her lower lip and curling up the upper lip, making a rather ugly face. "Interesting," Kaveri parrots with a nasty tone, "Leave it to a lab rat to think unwarranted cruelty is 'interesting.' I'm sure she is eating this s**t up as much as the people doing the experiments themselves." That is going to very easily land her a spot on Kaveri's 'Do Not Trust' list.

"Truth or Dare?" Jamal made an incredulous face, mostly because Kaveri claimed he might have liked it. Though, the thought of Antony deep throating a banana...well...he saw that talent enough in private. Hehehe. "Hm...if booze was involved, I'da prolly been up fo' it then. Sober? No way."
Jamal dug a hand into his pocket as he spoke, flinging a lighter onto the table briefly before digging back in, producing a pack of cigarettes and a little baggie of what looked to be neatly rolled joints.
"Yeah, I'd jus' ignore Lily if I was you. Too risky." Personally, he wouldn't mind taking Lily out like he attempted to do to Aubrey, but after the last stint in the white room in the labs, he decided to lay low for now.

"There was lots of booze involved," Kaveri smirks, "and flashing. Most of it was pretty dumb and I learned more about some people's dicks than I could ever care for, but it had its moments. Not something I'd willingly participate in, but I was kind of dragged into it."
She tilts her head curiously as Jamal places the lighter and the joints on the tabletop. She's certainly seen joints before (and used them many a time in her past), but hadn't expected to see that, or any other drug, on the island, considering stuff like that to be long-confiscated. "Huh," she murmurs aloud, "never thought they'd let anyone have that kinda stuff here. Given how ******** ridiculous the rest of the island is, this comes as a surprise."
Pursing her lips, Kaveri gives a thoughtful glance at the baggie and turns her attention back to her food. Where did he get that, anyways..?

Jamal made a digusted face at the mention of male genitalia. "********, glad I wasn't there then...as much as I like lookin' at tits, I don't wanna hear 'bout no guy's junk." He shuddered and started to paw through his joint baggie, producing a pair of joints. One went behind his ear, snugged tightly into place by his do-rag. The other went to his mouth.
"The big doc actually gave dis weed ta me fo' christmas...b'fo ev'rythin' went ta hell..." he said with a musing tone, popping the joint into the corner of his mouth and fumbling for his lighter. "They don't mind booze 'n' pot...it's da harder stuff they ain't cool wit'."
The black man easily lit the joint and tossed the light back on the table alongside the pack of cigs and the baggie of joints, taking a drag before cocking a brow at Kaveri. Hm...she looked like she was interested in the joints at the least, so after taking a hit, he took it from his mouth and held it out. He wouldn't mind sharing with her since she seemed like someone he could get along with well enough. That and everything seemed more tolerable when you were stoned.

"Yeah, some of the stuff they talked about was pretty nasty," Kaveri nods, closing her eyes, "I'm just not going to elaborate on it. Yeah, I understand some people are kinky, but I draw the line at tying your d**k into knots."
She was just going to keep convincing herself that and try forgetting that whole conversation about the bits and pieces of male animals. She honestly should have been drunk.
"Huh. They actually gave it to you?" Kaveri asks, quirking an eyebrow. "Well, I guess you have to be stoned in order to survive this shithole without popping an artery or something. Might explain why some of these ******** are so passive about this whole mess." She stops to think, and the corners of her mouth pull into a grin. "I wonder... ya think they'd give me some if I asked nicely for it?"
"--Oh, thanks, man!" Kaveri looks up from her food and her face lights up, and she gladly accepts the joint and puts it to her lips, breathing in a nice, refreshing drag. "Oh man," she purrs, smoke rolling out of her mouth, "it's been far too long since I had a taste of the ol' Mary Jane. S'good stuff." She offers the joint back, smiling.

"They might give ya some, though lately they seem ta be bein' bigger assholes then usual. They might not. Ya kin try though. They get ya jus' 'bout anythin' ya want if ya put in a request." He watched her take a hit, a passive expression on his face, then took the joint back and put it into the corner of his mouth.
"I'm runnin' out, myself...otherwise I'd give ya a few ta take. I doubt they'd give me any mo' if I asked," he muttered around the joint. "But like I said, ya prolly kin get some. I'd ask b'fo we start anythin' though cause ya might ruin yo' chances."

"And it's all free?" Kaveri asks, suddenly looking very interested. "I'll have to look into that. Do I just... use the intercom and be all, 'Hey, dudes! Can I have some pot?' and they'll give it to me?" She could easily take advantage of that and ask for more paper, paints, maybe even a carving knife so she could finally make that mask to put on her door.
"If I can manage to get my hands on some, I should share some of mine when you run out," she says before gnawing absently on that carrot. "But yeah, probably a good idea."
She stops, blinking dully as she stares out to space for a few seconds. "How do I use the intercom, again? I think I was told how to when I came here, but I never bothered to try it for myself, so I forgot."

"Yeah, it's free. We ain't got no use fo' money out herr....jus' press da button on the com 'n' a lab person oughta answer. Dat's all I did when I needed s**t. They usually got it all ta ma duplex in a day or two, dependin' on what it was dat I wanted."
The offer to share didn't go unnoticed, but he didn't want to come off like he was desperate, so he nodded in thanks and took another drag before passing it again to her in a gesture of good faith.

"Oh yeah, that's right," Kaveri says, "I mean, what're we gonna use for currency on a remote island, anyway? Dr. Moreau's Fun Bucks?" She laughs at her own stupid joke, envisioning brightly-colored bills floating across her mind's vision with cutesy caricatures of the faceless doctors emblazoned in the middle, the text below them reading: 'ADMIT ONE FOR BAG OF WEED. Expires 12/31/06.'
The mental image makes her laugh even more, putting a hand on her face as she reaches out to accept the joint again. Still giggling, she takes a drag and shakes her head at herself -- but the whole idea was just so funny to her. "Hahaha, oh man. I hope I haven't given those guys any ideas!"
She offers the joint back, the other hand moving to cover her mouth to suppress the laughter a bit. "Dr. Moreau's Fun Bucks, man... those ******** could probably make their own franchise or something and run some little marketing experiment here or something. The new extreme doctor, now with a skateboard and neon color-changing t-shirts and glow in the dark animal shots!"
She buries her face in her palms, giggling again at the idea of a doctor dressed up like some horrible victim of late 80s-early 90s fads riding a flaming skateboard down the mountain and shouting something about the extreme new soda product. She dealt with that crap with her classmates in high school, and the memory has forever been burnt into her brain. She hated it so much back then.
But now? It's a source of amusement for her, these days.
