phantomofmusic This is mainly pertaining to seniors or section leaders, or anybody else who has the same opinion. Does anybody have any incoming freshman that are just plain evil. I know our band has a class like that coming up in two years and the kids in it are evil and very vindictive. The rest of that class is just as mean. The sixth graders are actually getting suspended from school for months at a time for actually beating up kids, teachers, and stealing from everybody. But the band kids are slightly mellower than that but I worry that the band will all together be gone in a few years because of the new kids not taking an interest and not having the maturity to be in band. just wondering if I am the only one with that problem. The Phantom of Music I'm a freshman this year but I constantly worry what will happen to the band in my old school (it was a nice sized band and all but all of the little kidies don't seem to like music these days) Then again at the school I'm at now the marching band was 12 people myself included... and that was with the help of eight graders coming over from a neighboring school too sweatdrop

The Jolly Glomper *shudders* Oh, we've got this evil little drumemr coming up name MArcus--aka"Marcus the Carcas". Nobody likes him. He literally thinks he knows everything (exept of course that's stupid, but no, he's MArcus, he cna do it.) Im not a senior, I'm a freshman, but I do not look forward to actually ahving to deal with this kid next year. He was in the PIt for marching band the past two years--and it is not going to be fun having to deal with him for another three. ANd I mean not fun like he might not survive. ALhtough, I will admit he is a good drumemr, which is good because most of our drumline is seniors, and they're graduating, and we are so tiny...(about 60) But that might not be enough to stop the lynch mob. and that seems to be somewhat close to me... (except for 'pretending to be smart i actually am) I know lots and piss people off when I constantly prove them wrong with logic... and yes, ppl either hate me or are annoyed by me. those don't are those crazy hyper freshman... yay oh yeah pissing off upperclassmen is so fun when you get higher scores on the ACT and SAT... 28 comp. on the ACT and 1260 on the SAT.. yay for evil

The Phantom of Music no way. you're definently not the only one with that problem. but then again, i am in the same band and school with you so i know where you are coming from. lol.

There are always some bad freshmen in the flute section. Always. Unfortunately for me, too, since I'm going to be in BOTH bands next year, so I'll have to deal with freshmen. >> It's gonna suck. I KNOW there were some annoying flute players when we had our pep band invitational earlier this year, but I don't know how many were incoming freshmen (there were sixth-eighth graders there).
As for the tenors... I'm not even sure if we're got any coming in. I THINK I heard that there was a eighth grade tenor player over at the middle school, but if there is I have no idea what he/she is like, since they didn't come to the invitational. Oh well. I'm not in charge of the tenor section anyway. That's always the OTHER tenor's job - HE can deal with the freshmen. (Haha, I'm a wonderful person. ^_^ That's okay, he's my best friend.) I'm hoping if we DO get another full-time tenor, it's a chick. So far we only have three full-time tenors, and the other two are guys. There IS another chick tenor, but she only plays it for pep and jazz, then switches to flute for concert (like I used to do).

My school's been a 10-11-12 for aslong as anyone can remember, but we're forced to bring up the Freshmen next year. We're one of the last schools in the state to add their Freshmen center. Normally this wouldn't really be that bad, but the maturity difference between an 8th and 9th grader is staggering (future Fresh and Soph). We've been holding mandatory after-school Marching Workshops for them and they seem to be pretty obediant. No matter if they're not: we'll break their spirits soon enough during Summer Band in August. wink

I don't hafta worry about freshman getting into our band. We have 3 band classes; Concert, Symphonic and Wind Ensemble. Freshmen hafta audition to get into Symphonic....
Plus I'm a senior next year...so all I hafta do remind them "Left foot dammit!" and that they don't know everything...

Certainly not the only one. I, a senior, despise every 8th grader moving up this year. Luckily, I don't hafta deal with the new 8th graders personally, I'll be a teacher aide for that class, and I can show 'em how to be nice, if I wanted. But, that's not the point. The 9th graders are evil, and they hate everyone but their puny little friends. >:O I'll teach 'em!!

We have some new incoming freshmen, but I wouldn't say that any of them are -really- evil. One of the little drummers coming in is pretty funny. Funny because.. well. He really can't play a bass drum. For some odd reason, he always wants to play with both mallets at the same time, and it's just funny to watch. 3nodding
