AshWufei Haha I feel so inefficient now. I've officially only finished writing the lyrics to 2 songs! Though I've got countless numbers of riffs ready to jump on to paper, I very rarely have the inspiration to sit down and write lyrics. Normally, inspiration happens after stressful times for me, but boy have there been alot of those lately. I totally know what you mean! I can come up with instrumentals for days. But when it comes down to lyrics, g'd luck!

I'm always hearing music in my head.
I guess where theory comes in handy is recognizing what those notes are so you can replicate what you hear in your head on your instrument or instruments of choice.
Having said that, I really need to attend a class of some sort for this sort of thing xd

Theory is one of the most appreciated tools I've picked up and tried over the years. I've never been unhappy trying to learn and apply a piece of music theory to my playing. It's helped me find new Chord progressions that I'd never thought of before, or new melodies that I couldn't think about before. It really helps in almost any aspect you need it to.

several. Whenever something pops in my head, or I am doodleing around with the sound and I think it sounds good, I get a pencil *Or pen* paper, and start writting tabs down. I have quite a few.

AshWufei I've got several songs rolling around in my head, unfortunately I'm not as naturally talented at lyric writing as i am at composing, so they're all instrumental for now. Ditto. I've written(instrumnetal) around a dozen or two songs. I've only written maybe a handfull of lyrics to go along with some though. My only problem is, I can remember the tabs, but I can never remember the tempo and beat. It annoys me ao bad. 'Cause Ill have this really awesome song written down in my head. I got home, pick up the guitar, and damn it, forgot the beat again!

kay, i have written lyrics for a few more songs, and i started working on my next song on my own. It's called the Ninja. its kinda Cacophony-ish . it uses the Iwata scale mostly, so it has kind of an exotic sound. Its prolly the fastest thing i've done so far for BPM. i think i'm gonna keep it as a solo thing and not use it towards my band.

I write alot of catchy guitar riffs, and many lyrics. However, I often have trouble piecing them together, and therefore I haven't completely finished anything I'm in a punk/ska band called Suburban Cactus, and we have written a few songs, but I don't think we have any lyrics for them yet. (but we don't have a singer yet either)

I write a new song about once a week! sweatdrop
I have loads in different band's and I write aload myself on acoustic too. I'm not a great singer so although I do write lyrics for alot of them most are instrumental. Anybody heard of Justin King? Michael Hedges? I have a lot of tapping song's like that.

BTW, the Iwato(apparently its with an o, not an a) scale i use goes like this.
e--15--11------------------------------------------- B-----------15--11----------------------------------- G--------------------14--12-------------------------- D-----------------------------13--12----------------- A--------------------------------------13--12-------- E-----------------------------------------------15--11
idk much about it other than how to play it. i bet you could find it in scale books or somthing. i also found a scale called an Enigmatic scale.
