She laughed a little herself at Safura's wanting to see "a cheetah in action". It wasn't as exciting as the little femme obviously imagined. In fact, it was over quickly, and rather dull besides. Just a short burst of speed, and a miss more often than a hit. Still, Safura had mentioned that she was hungry, and that was what made up Zakiya's mind for her. She just wasn't able to ignore that.
"All right," she says finally, "I'll show you how I hunt. But you shouldn't splash mud on your fur, Safura; it's much too pretty for that." With a smile, she rises to her feet, shaking off her dark fur before starting to walk slowly in a random direction, just letting her feet propel her forward. "Come on, Safura," she calls over her shoulder, before turning her gaze straight ahead once more, eyes scanning the distance for a sign of suitable prey that she'd have a chance at catching for the lioness. [It sucks big time. x.x;]

Safura grinned. "Yay! Wait, I'm gonna find a good spot!" She scrambled after Zakiya with enthusiastic youthfulness and cheerfully bound away and around the femme. "I can't wait to see!" Safura was beyond excited now. "I don't care if you say it's boring, because I'll still see you in action! Just you wait--I'm gonna train my eyes so I can see you!" Safura knew that most lions hunted in pairs, and since she was on her own, it was difficult to get much food. She had learned to live off small bits of meat, because of her size and strength, and now that she might finally get a good meal, and see a cheetah in action, she couldn't pass the offer.
((Ack. Ran out of ideas, there.))

Kiya had already spotted a herd of gazelle on the horizon slightly to the west of their position, perfect prey for a cheetah to bring down. Now that food had been located, she turned her light purple eyes to Safura's bouncing form, shaking her head a little as a soft chuckle flitted from her throat.
"All right, Safura, you go somewhere you can watch," she says quietly to the lioness. "But you have to stay still and quiet or you'll scare the gazelle off." She nods her head in the direction of the herd, before looking back at them herself as she begins moving forward, but more in a hunch now. She's already scanning the group for one that she can pick off, a lame gazelle, old, young, ill, anything that would give it a disadvantage compared to the rest, to make it easier pickings for an experienced cheetah. [Sorry, lately Gaia's been being evil to me. I dunno if Neo told you about it or not. Anyway, it wouldn't work for days. e.e;]

Safura stopped her happy bouncing and vanished into some underbrush, completely quiet and still, the dry grass she had run into blowing gently in a soft breeze. She didn't utter a word as she tried her best to watch Kiya. This is gonna be sooooo cool! she screamed in her mind. Her stomach growled, and she hoped she was far enough away from the gazelle that they didn't hear her.
She hadn't eaten for a few days, and she hadn't been able to find food. Those gazelle were starting to look painfully good, but she made herself stay. She would get food soon enough. Or at least, she hoped so! Kiya was a cheetah, so it all depended on the first hit, otherwise the gazelle would all turn and run and find another, safer place to eat their fill of plantation, and it would be hard to track them down again.
((S'okay. ^^ Neo didn't tell me, but that's all right.))

There was a mercifully placed rock not far from the herd, with plenty of shadow underneath its ledge for her dark pelt to blend into, offering Zakiya a perfect place to wait and watch. She takes this opportunity too good to pass up, crouching down beside the pale stone as her eyes scanned the prey beasts gathered before her. It was a minute or two until she finally spotted what she was looking for: a young gazelle limping behind the herd as it tried to keep up with the rest as they slowly moved.
She waited patiently until the young beast was directly in front of her, before suddenly shooting out from her hiding place, going from still to top speed in a matter of strides, sending the gazelles scrambling to get away from a predator suddenly in their midsts. This hunt was lucky, though; she managed to get within striking range of the young prey beast with the injured back leg, and knock it's hooves from beneath it, sending it sprawling to the ground, where she pounced on it. Her sharp teeth close around its throat in a death grip, remaining thus for the short time it takes for the young male to stop twitching and finally go limp. Then she begins to drag the carcass back to Safura, her sides heaving with the exertion she'd put herself under, especially since she's pregnant, although, at this moment in time, that's unknown to the female.
Upon reaching the young lioness once more, Kiya dropped the gazelle before her, sitting daintily, composed besides her soft panting, beginning to clean the blood from her fur, her muzzle especially.

Safura grinned happily up at Zakiya. "Wow!!! That was so fast, I could barely see you! But I saw you--that was so cool!" She bounced around Kiya and the dead gazelle for a bit, before her stomach rumbled, causing a faint blush of embarrassment to paint her face. "Er... You want to eat some, too?" She asked, curiously, even though her stomach was growling like mad.
She figured it was only polite to ask that, since Zakiya had been the one to kill the prey. She licked her chops, however; it had been so long since she'd last eaten, and she was trying hard not to drool in from of the femme because it was, of course, only polite. "Kiya?" Safura looked at the cheetah in concern. She seemed to pant a bit more than should be, but Safura wasn't a good judge on such, so she sat and waited for an answer.
