"Actually, it's not so bad..." Rivera said in her usual whispering voice, a small hint of positive emotion creeping into the edges of her face. "... from my scars, I'm not so sure if I want to know everything about my past." She sipped the orange tea just as the brownies came out. Rivera walked to the microwave and set down the plate of brownies. "Here, to go with the tea... Help yourself, I bought them last night so they're not so fresh anymore..."
She took one herself, noting how good food around here was. It was much better than the crap she got at the military camp, or the detention facility. She barely touched those anyway. As for the asylum, she wasn't sure what they served there. She was too busy trying to commit suicide, from what she remembered. This developed a growing hatred for the overly white environments.
"I have been doing a little of my own research, however... but... " She looked far out the sliding window door to the balcony, as if there might be some hope in the sky. "... they can't be right. Nothing makes sense if they were right..."

Rei took one of the brownies and took a bite out of it. it was really good so she took her time eating it all the while listen to rivera speak. after finishing the brownie rei took a drink of the tea and found the taste was amusing.
rei then looked at rivera as she stood looking out at the balcony. "well what does the research say? i mean there's got to be some truth to it right?" rei said trying to figure out what the reashearch might of said

rei looked at the book and was suddenly puzzeled by it. "rivera is it possiabel that you are a rencarnation of someone and just happen to have the same name of the person who you are the rencarnation of?" rei sia dthinking about the fact that the book was so old and suposivly rivera was supposed to be dead.
"maybe that's why the book opens for you....but then again you could have been in an ageless sleep and while you were sleeping you memories began to fade away...which would be why you can't remeber you past and why the book says your so old" rei still trying to put together the pieces.

Rivera looked up wistfully. "I am no reincarnation, because reincarnations have the same souls of their predecesor... I don't have a soul, none that I can find... True, I have soul energy, yet... I have no soul..." She smiled slightly at the thought. There were deals she could make with the devil of all devils, but she couldn't lose to it what she doesn't have. The storm lent its soul power to her so she could live more like a humanoid, but it could only do so much to a robotic mind and a stone heart.
"As for the ageless sleep... maybe... " She sipped her tea again, "But that doesn't explain how my first memory deals with me being in the middle of a gunfight with a gangster. It doesn't tell me how I knew how to speak modern English and slang if neither had been developed in the dark ages. It doesn't tell me why I was wearing a biker vest and torn jeans, or gothy boots if there weren't such things back then. Hell, I don't even know how I ended up in that fight... two months ago... millenia ago... what's the difference? I don't remember anything..." She looked at the lightning dragon tatoo on her forearm. It had been faithful to her, just as Kairyu and Kairen had been.
"You must be bored with all this talk of me." Rivera tore her eyes away with a well practiced false cheer, "Tell me more about you, I want to know everything! And Evadne too, I'd like to be her friend as well. How did you two find eachother? Do you always eat pizza?" Eager to change the subject, she whispered fast.

"well i dont' know much about evadne other than the fact that she trained herself how to use her powers" she picked up the tea cup she had been eyeing and took a sip. "as for me...i grew up in a small town. My father was a high ranking offical of his exact title i have no idea. everyone there was a water user...except for me.."
rei found the subject slightly upsetting but talking to rivera about it made it seem less as bad. she took another sip of the tea and finished her brownie.

"Water and fire are probably closer than water and wind." Rivera smiled, "Although fire and wind are probably closer. Water and wind have little to do with eachother, except for movement... but fire and water are the basis elements for the summer variation of storm, which leads to all sorts of chain reactions that ends up as a fusion of a dozen elements controlled by a single negative compound element known as chaos." She replaced the book under the table and passed her hand over the coffee table. A 24 pointed star formed of four hexagons overlapping appeared. Each corner held a symbol for an element, and a round mirror was placed in the center. Grooves and crystals lined it, patterning the surface.
"This is something like a miniature version of the scrying pool we were at." Rivera explained. "It is an excellent dimension scryer, meaning it can be used as a history book, or a crystal ball. It can also read the stars and tarot cards, and it is deadly accurate... I've worked chaos into every weave to power its properties, two weeks of work to do it... care to take a try?"
Rivera drew a pack of tarot cards from beneath the table. For once, a look of... normality? She had it, she felt human. "I'm getting good at reading fortunes, so I'm charging five bucks for a simple reading, ten for an astrological charting addition and fifteen total for tarot added to the package... but since you've paid your fare with your story and friendship, I'll give it to you free..."
She smiled, "Oh, one more thing... I'm usually right."

rei listened to rivera carefully. she didn't understand most of the stuff about the elements and how they were similar but she figured she would eventually. she then watched as the dimension scryer had apperared. it was very interesting.
rei became very interested when rivera began to talk about telling her future and stuff. "well i've never had my future read before...but i trust you so i would like you to do" she said thinking everything very carefully.

Rivera smiled. She wanted to know a bit more about Rei, about things she can't explain and things she doesn't know. The cards never worked well for her because she had no soul to call her own. That was when she asked a fortune teller to do it for her. It was taboo to read one's own future. maybe there will be better luck with Rei. She took up the tarot cards. "Take these and shuffle them well, holding it with your recessive hand and shuffling it with your dominant hand." She demonstrated. "When you have done that, release a little of your energy into the scrying mirror like you did down at the scrying pool. It should cast the fire element for you."
She released her chaos energy into the mirror and watched it rotate until the symbol for chaos was closest to her. "Then place the cards like the rays of the sun around the mirror, starting with the element to the right of your given element. You will pick out 24 cards, working counterclockwise until you reach your given element. I will explain more once you have done so." She pushed the deck of tarot cards back towards the girl.
((I wish you could do it, but you can't, so I'll read your fortune with my own tarot cards on this end... I've got Chobits Tarot Cards ^^ ))

rei understood most of what rivera had said. she the took the deck and put into her left hand and shuffled it with her right. she shuffled the cards for 45 seconds. she then took her right hand and imagine the little fire she had invision earlier and she put a little burst of the flame into the scrying mirror.
she opened her eyes and watched as the fire element was cast.she began to put the cards in the places as described to her by rivera starting to the element to the right of her own.she finished putting down the 24 cards and had no idea what to do with the rest so she left them in her hand.
(oo chobits i love chobits^ ^ and i hope rei dosen't get a blank that would be bad sweatdrop )

Rivera began to turn over the first card when a spark crossed her wrist. She jerked her fingers back, then tried again. The fire grew larger and smoked at the cornr of the card for a moment. Her cards were thin sheets of metal, and weren't harmed as easiily as paper... but Rivera understood what it meant...
"Your powers are strong... you just need to harness them properly." She concluded in her whispering voice. "They are guarding the knowledge of your future from me and from everyone else. You have to guard your own future from here... that is all I can tell you." Rivera snapped her fingers, and the cards swept onto each other in a full arc into a circle, then slid onto the top of the deck. Rivera shuffled the deck thoroughly and stored them away again.
She stood up. "I have a trip to make... you are welcome here whenever, just remember not to disturb ghosts." With that she hurried out the door. There was something she needed to do... now.

"if my powers are strong why can't i use them properly..." she mumbled to herself. She then waited for the sound of the door to shut before decided to leave herself. she then stood up and brushed off her clothing.
she walked over to the bathroom and picked up her normal clothing. she quickly got dressed into them and exited the bathroom. she then located the dresser that rivera had pointed out earlier and put the clothings and such in the top drawer.
Rei then decided it best not to stay here much longer and exited the room.
