Kayne gave Rashne another long look out of the corner of his eye. Was he looking for an apology? Kayne wasn't sure if he was ready to cross that line yet. "Yes it was," he said simply, increasing his pace a little.

Ra smirked at Kayne's eyeroll and increase of speed. Did he really think he was going to chase after him. He wasn't that desperate for a chat. Shrugging he kept to his steady pace as the rounded the edge of the field.

Finishing the second lap, Kayne stopped at the spot where they had begun, pacing a bit while he caught his breath. He was glad Rashne hadn't paced him. He had to sort things out in his head. Discipline he was used to. Kindness, assertiveness, and responsibility? Those were all new to him. As far as he was concerned change wasn't necessarily a good thing. But Aeron's soft voice entered his mind. "Its hard to see the good that can come from change when it is the pain that is at the forefront of that change." He had thought long and hard about her words and knew them to be truth. Taking a deep breath, he let it out quickly as he ran his hand through his rusty hair, watching Rashne approach him.

Jogging to a halt next to Kayne Ra gave him a smile and flopped to the floor. Leaning on his knees to get his breath back. He didn't speak, he knew if this was going to sort itself out then Kayne was going to have to make the first move. It was his temper that started it all.

Kayne paced one more time then plopped down on the ground in front of Rashne. He crossed his legs and leaned down on them.
"Are you finished with with your essay?" he asked, looking off to the far end of the field.

Ra was suprised to hear him speak. Looking down he pulled a long blade of grass from the ground and began to twist it around his fingers.
"Nearly." He said looking up slightly. "What highly original punishment did he give you?" He asked dryly, a slight smirk pulling at the corner of his mouth.

"The same," Kayne replied, turning his head slightly to look back at Rashne. "Seven thousand and a bunch of cleaning." Why wasn't he more angry with him? Why did he actually want to talk to him? If he had been in Rashne's shoes, he wouldn't be so quick to forgive. There was still a yellow mark on his face from where he had hit him. Suddenly the same wave of guilt that had plagued him while talking to Aeron washed over him. Looking down at the laces on his shoes he asked, "Did I hurt you real bad?"

"Heh, well, he's nothing if not consistant." Ra said giving a snort of laughter and throwing the grass back onto the ground. He looked up at the auburn haired boy. This was why he had forgiven him, because he knew that the boy in the cafe wasn't the same as the one he had played soccer with. It wasn't the real Kayne. Just as the boy trapped in Yusuke's office that day wasn't the real him.
"Nah, well obviously a bit." He said with a smirk. "My girlfriend was more bothered by it than I was." He looked across the field remembering her reaction. "So if you see a hot, redhead storming your way ... I'd start running." He laughed a bit, hoping that Kayne would be amused by the joke. "How's your sister? She looked pretty scared when we got marched to the office...we didn't get her in trouble did we?"

Kayne looked up as Ra spoke. A faint smile spread across his lips when he warned him about his girlfriend. "I'll keep that in mind," he laughed lightly.
"Cirrus? She didn't get in trouble. She was only scared 'cause she thought she had been dragged down with me. She's obviously not the troublemaking twin. I'll be damned if she didn't give me an earful when I got back to the dorm though. A word of advice... don't piss off an Irish woman. It's not worth the ear ache," he said with a genuine smile.

Ra laughed at Kayne's comment about Irish women.
"Sounds like most women." He smirked pulling some more grass up and tearing it between his fingers. He fell silent for a bit wondering whether to voice the apology that had been floating around his head since the day of the fight. Heightened by Sora's words.
"Look, Kayne. I'm sorry." He began, picking at his shoe laces. "I didn't mean to provoke you. I wasn't thinking properly."

Kayne quirked an eyebrow in disbelief at Ra's apology.
"What are you apologizing for? I'm the one who was out of line. If Sorakai hadn't opened his big mouth I wouldn't have gotten pissed off," he said softly. "The thing is.... you guys don't know anything about us. Cirrus needs me. All we have is each other. There are good reasons why I watch my sister so closely. I'm just sorry I lost my mind the way I did. I was trying to start off on the right foot over here." He too picked a blade of grass and started shredding it piece by piece.

Ra nodded. He knew as well as anyone about the need for privacy and personal space, but he still thought Kayne was a bit wrong in his actions.
"I understand." He said simply. Taking a deep breath he looked off into the distance. "My uncle is similar with my cousin. She hates it, I hate it too. He is only protective because she is all he has too." He swallowed and looked down at the ground. "Especially when he's depressed." Ra looked up at Kayne. "I believe people who are too close can't always see clearly. When you grabbed her it annoyed me...I don't think anyone should treat someone else like that. You two need each other, you shouldn't create distance." He sighed heavily and hugged his knees to his chest. "There's too much hate between strangers, we don't need to create it between those we love."

Kayne laughed at Ra's cheesy statement. He knew what he meant... but it was really funny to hear him say it. When he finally stopped laughing he gave his head a small shake.
"I guess I ought to thank you then. I was really out of my head that day. To tell you the truth I didn't even know I had grabbed Cirrus like that until she yelled it at me. I just want you to know... I've never ever done that before. Things have been so stressful though with the move and all and her acting funny lately. I guess I should be glad you stepped in," he said still smiling. He glanced over his shoulder to see if sensei was on her way back yet.
"Do you understand what sensei is doing with us?" he asked the question that had been plaguing him since her announcement.

In the staffroom Jess stubbed out her cigarette and drained her mug of coffee. She'd been gone long enough, now was the time to either go back and pick up the bodies or find they had made up. Personally she was hoping for the later, blood stains were always so hard to get out of clothing.
Leaving the staffroom she swung by a vending machine and brought three bottles of water. Nearing the field she was pleased to see both boys in the distance, very much alive.

Ra smirked and looked up through his hair. "Sorry that didn't come out the way I meant it to." He laughed.
To Kayne's question he shook his head.
"I have no idea." He sighed. "There's probably some really harsh clause to being Captain and Vice Captain that she's not letting on about." Sniffing he sat up straight and crossed his legs. In the distance he saw her coming towards them.
"Speaking of which..." He pointed and looked back to Kayne. "What do you think?"
