People don't listen to their 'gut' enough: if it says run, then by all means run as fast as you can.

I have never heard of a company that requires training that they make you pay for. I'd check it out with the BBB as you're running for the hills.

According to the BBB (that's Bettr Business Bureau) warns against taking jobs that ask you to front some large sum of money first.

Have you tried running this company through their website just to make sure?

Yup I did that after the first meeting. Like I said earlier it all comes back perfectly legitimate. I can't find anything wrong with this business except that it asks for money I don't have right now.

But in any case, I'm going with my gut on this one. I already called and cancelled the rest of the meetings and such. She was angry that I wasted her time, but my thought was "you called me, remember?"

Yeah going with your gut is always a good thing. I mean $700 is a LOT of money to put up front.

I think you did the right thing. And the fact that she apparently became embittered when you told her you weren't interested is even more suspicious sounding to me. Good call though.

Boy am I ever glad I bailed when I did! I got an email from my dad today giving me a couple of webstes to visit that I hadn't found yet.

World Financial Group is under heavy scrutiny because of all the fraud lawsuits that have been filed againt them because of the so called "system" she'd been telling me was so great!

They're best known for their "illegal" pyramid system of recruiting new agents.

sweatdrop Why is it always me?

You know I am pretty sure that is the exact same company that tried to scam my MIL.

MILs must be susceptible to that nonsense because my mother in law dragged us to a World Financial group thing with selling mutal funds. OMG you're going to be millionare!!!

No, you try to sell mutal funds and get a percentage...a measly percentage and the person who recruited you gets a bigger chunk and the person that recruited them gets a chunk and then you only REALLY make money if you recruit other stupid suckers to make you some money.
