Yes Charlie.. we've all heard your views on the subject razz
I'm full Chinese myself, but I consider Taiwan to be a part of China just as, say, California is a part of America. Sure, you can say you're Taiwanese just as you can say you're Californian, but if you say you're Californian you automatically imply that you're American; in the same way, if you say you're Taiwanese, you imply that you're Chinese because Taiwan is a province of China as much as Hubei or Tibet (!) or HK.
I hope this thread isn't supposed to address the current political situation.. sweatdrop

Another Point: Puerto Ricans don't call themselves American. Nor are they considered to be American despite the fact that Puerto Rico is a possesion of the United States. Although in my opinion, Taiwan's relationship with China is more distant than Puerto Rico and The United States'.

xXHotBabiBluXx I'm confused about who is wrong and who is right. 3nodding Then just read what others have to say, interpt the the aruging statements and then come to a conclusion. This is an opened debate that has been going on for a while.. There isn't a universal right or wrong side. 3nodding
It's better to watch than to post meaningless posts. 3nodding It just looks like you're posting only to add to your post counts. Whether an end to this debate would come? Doesn't seem like it.xoxCharlenexox well, i 'm just using Taiwan since we're dicussing about if ppl from Taiwan are considered Taiwanese or Chinese But you're using langauge rather than Taiwan. When you stated "since Taiwan has their own language...tho ppl in cali call themselves californians, they still speak english just like everybody else in United States," that Taiwan's own langauge is enought to seperate them from being Chinese.

@DASG - ah, I was going to make that point, but you got there before me. Yes - Shanghai has its own dialect, as do most of the provinces of China - a famous one is, of course, Cantonese which is no further from Mandarin than the dialect from many of the other regions in China. Why should Taiwan be any different?
@Charlene - it's ok, it happens to everyone wink Just try and think and sort out what you really think from what you think you think before typing it out. 3nodding
