well one day,,i was talking to my sis...nd i told her the exact same thing " i don't know how to read 90% of the chinese characters" her reply" u don't know that much! theres alot of chinese characters!" so i guess 99 would be how much i can't read...

lol, I see. I can read some traditional chinese! mrgreen

when i was in HK, i didn't really learn any chinese since my school mostly taught us english...that was in pre-K...and when i finally got to 1st grade, we started learning chinese, but i only stayed there for 1 month before we left for Florida...so i learned like nothing...

Oh, I see. I started in a late age, I started at like 10 years old. xp

my mom is always yelling at me saying i have to read more chinese and use that stupid booklet she bought me to learn how to write...but how can i read chinese if i can't read it? and how can i really learn how to write chinese if i don't know what the word i am writing means? i'm always telling her to send me to HK for a few years her respond " oh, i think its going to be too hard for you" stare

rofl Fuuny mom, I learn chinese from weatching tvb shows, it really really helps. 3nodding

i've been watching tvb shows like my whole life...but i never learned anything since someone wouldn't define to me what something means! *stares evily at sis" evil

Maybe you can get a chinese novel and a dictionary. Then memorise some letters in the novel everyday xd Just a suggestion. I don't know if it works, though.

It works, but I don't do that, because I can't find a chinese dictionary. xd

If you're just trying to learn read some characters, you could go to zhongwen.com and learn a few words. It's free and pretty accurate.

Chinese movies and music really do help. I practice my Chinese by trying to read Chinese lyrics as I listen to the song xd
