The older Serpent answered, for Aure was unusually quiet, looking sullenly at Darien's back. It was obvious he had been forced to come here. "Not that long, actually. My caverns still have that 'new cave' smell." He smiled, and chuckled a little at his own joke. "We are travelling about, getting to know the other astral creatures who live here."

Aure looked at Daemetia from his coil, and said, "Come whenever. It's always open to visitors."

Daemetia nodded to Aure, but she was thinking about what Darien said at the same time. So they were new, too. THat was good, since she wouldn't be the only new ones in ages.
"How many other creatures are there?"

((Sorry for lateness.))

Darien creased his reptilian brows, thinking about it. "I'm, not really sure, but I think there's a list somewhere of all of us. I think Draconis flipped out for a while because she found one that looked kind of like what Aure would be when he grew up. Turned out to be Professor Feline's personal serpent. She called him 'her baby.'"

Aure continued to be silent, though he made faces behind Darien's back and mocked the things he talked about. He stopped when the larger Serpent's head whipped around and snapped inches from his face.

(No problem. ^_^)
Daemetia stifled her laughter at the immature serpent behind Darien's back. Suddenly, running back over what Darien said in her mind, she noticed something. "Who is Draconis?"

"Draconis is supposedly our human. We don't see her much." Darien sounded very indifferent as he spoke, like he couldn't care whether or not he had a human to look after, or a human to look after him, or however it works.

Aure butted in. "She brings us food. But most of the time she's elsewhere, and she smells like some kind of reptile."

The dark turquoise Serpent nodded, and said, "I saw one of the creatures she hangs around. They're called dragons. It's really weird. It's kind of like us, Serpents, that is, but it has forelegs and horns... And actual wings. Bigger than yours, even."

"They're not Dusts. I don't like them."

"Wow. Wings bigger than mine? They sound scary." Daemetia looked over her shoulder at her angelic and demonic wings. "I don't see my human much either. She usual is off with some anime loving friends. She never told me what anime is, though. Lairsha starts ranting and raving if I ask what anime is, so I make a point not to. I wonder if all humans rant and rave?"

The golden serpent sniggered, at the condescension of his elder, and smiled at Daemetia. Darien sighed at the young one, and replied, "Well, I'm not sure about that. Maybe some do. I think they're mostly like us. Except for the being human part. Draconis only rants and raves if you ask her about dragons, or about space..."

Daemetia turned back to them. "Space?" She had never heard of it before. Her owner didn't talk anything about a 'space' when she was at home. It sounded good, though. She flapped her wings a little, testing them out. The purple dustling wondered if she could fly.

While Aure lied down and looked up at the two of them, Darien was content to 'sit' and continue conversation with his new neighbour. "Apparently space is just a big void behind the sky. I don't know what she likes about it, it sounds boring. You can't fly to it, and even if you do get there you'll just die... Something about there being no air."

Darien shifted his weight and sat up straight, then looked down at his Aure, who he had raised like a son. "Are you not going to join the conversation?"

The golden Serpent shook his head and said, "I don't even want to be here."

The dark-turquoise Serpent glared at him and hissed silently, then smiled apologetically to Daemetia. "Please excuse him, all he likes to do is chase around pretty girls."

Aure merely continued to watch the Dustling dragon.

Inwardly Daemetia was a bit offended, but she refused to let it show. "Oh, it's fine. I've not really done much with the place yet." The teal-eyed Dust looked around the room. Nope, nothing much, except for the colors. She turned back to them. "Space does sound boring. What's the point of flying there if you just die?"

Darien shrugged, still in a polite sort of manner, and looked at Aure. The golden serpent looked up, and said, "Nice place. I like these colours," before retreating back to silence. It was obvious that he was a very different Serpent when not being watched by his elder.

The turquoise serpent sighed a little and changed the topic from the lack of life in space. "In my caves generally most of the furniture is made of rock or hard-pressed dirt or reeds and rushes." He shook his head as though thinking, and said, "I know it was my idea to use the natural caves as my home, but I don't think Draconis tried to get me a house like this."

"Thank you. A natural cave sounds awesome. Can you hear the birds?" Daemetia bowed her head, blushing slightly. They were so nice to her! She looked back up, waiting for a reaction. The purple dustling thought 'Why wouldn't she look for a house for you?' for a moment, before deciding against asking.

Darien looked up and all four of his ears twitched until they found the birds. He smiled, and said, "They're very pretty. At my caves, you can hear the river, which sounds quite nice echoing, and sometimes you can hear the animals who live in the caves. They stay away, for the most part."

Aure wriggled impatiently and tapped Darien's tail. "What is it?" the turquoise creature asked, and then bending down at his companion's request to listen.

The golden serpent whispered something like, "It's going to rain." Darien nodded, and looked back at Daemetia.

"Aure has brought to my attention that we have a previous engagement, and we would neither like to be caught in a cold rain nor leave our human outside. Draconis said she was going to come by to refill the larder, and I offered to help."
PostPosted: Tue May 09, 2006 6:54 pm

"Ah." Daemetia seemed slightly sad that her visitors were leaving. "That wouldn't be good. I'll probably come over and visit, if that's ok." She waited for a reply. Rain wasn't fun- it was wet, cold, and kept you inside all day. No fun at all.

"You can visit any time you like," said Darien. "My caves are welcome to everyone." He bowed his head to the much smaller dragon, and said to her, "Good evening," before turning and heading to the door.

Aure 'stood' up and crawled/slithered/walked over to Daemetia. "You understand our reason for why we have to beat the rain, right? Serpents are cold-blooded, and if the rain starts we might as well stay here..." He sounded a little impatient, looking at the sky.
