Personally I prefer Wiccan, since Wicca and Witchcraft are two different things, and since I haven't really done any magick yet, I can't really be considered a Witch sweatdrop . I kind of prefer the religious aspect (I really like magick, I just haven't done it) so I am really more of a Wiccan.

It depends. If I want to make a point without giggles from the people around me I'll use Wiccan, I find Wiccan instuls more respect.
I use the word witch if I'm looking for the conversation to blow over. And if I just want the conversation over.
People tend not to buy into Witch as refering to Wicca. Sorry to anyone who finds this a better term for Wicca. I've found Wiccan more of a solid unchangable word, where as witch seems to be throw about more.

With me, when people ask what religion i am, i tell them that i am wiccan, and then answer their confused blank stares with "im a witch" then, from there, they ask a bunch of questions that i sit and answer; such as "DUDE!!! can you turn me into a FROG?!" with answers like "no...that doesnt work because thats not what its like, and the wiccans rede prohibits it based on the 3 fold rule which says....." and then they lost interest...so basically, i havent a preference.

Well the first time I told someone, it just so happened to be four uber-christians. I had no idea. They freaked out, just over the fact that I siad I don't believe in their god. Then I explained to them that this is America. And that we have this new-fangle idea called "freedom of religion." and they counter with "Yea, but you SHOULD be christian." I was so sick I about threw up. I don't know that people were so closed minded. Just thinking of the memory makes me sick. Anyway the point is I don't tell people any more. My best friends have concluded that by no chance I am Christian, or Jewish, or any other big name faith. (and the kicker is I wear a pentacle necklace every day, and my one project in class has a huge pentacle on it.) biggrin wink

I'm sure there are a fair amount of people talking behind my back though. In junior high, because my friends and I dress a little different, people use to ask if we were witches. We wern't but we joked around and said yes. If they got really annoying we threatened to curse them. That was fun. xd

I'm both, so I use both, but if I don't know the person too well, I use Wiccan. If they ask about being a witch after that, I say yes.
