I consider myself mainly interested in my irish ancestry, really I am literally half british, but I am interested in the irish culture. Though I also am pretty fascinated by bulgarian culture, I will be the first to admit, I am very little irish by blood, but I listen to the traditional music, though Ireland is mainly catholic these days I still base my beliefs off of old irish paganism, granted, I am american, but I care more about where I came from and where am going than where I am, and america is not where I am staying. Either way, and no, I unfortunately do not speak gaelic. I would give my left pinky finger to be able though, I have tried time and time again, but I am bad at teaching myself these things. Oh, to add to my little celtic repetoire I also play the pennywhistle, harp, bagpipes (i know these are not irish, but, uilleann pipes are on my list of instruments to learn) and if I have my way, I will get an irish flute, I know it is the same fingerings as the pennywhistle, but the tone is richer in some ways than the whistle.

I'm British but my grandparents were Irish so I consider myself Irish too. I really wish I could speak Irish too, because its a pretty neat language and my grandmother was apparantly fluent in it (which gave here a scholarship at school so she could continue studying and eventually come here to Britain). I also base my beliefs off of Celtic polytheism (although my beliefs are based off of British paganism rather than Irish, which means that it is pretty much the same except the names of the gods are Welsh rather than Irish)

I think I'm notoriously Irish. Sticking my biased notions in on all the Northern Ireland converstions in the GD.

Ooh, can we talk about that? I swear I won't hurt anyone ... much.

Well I'm all Irish... as far as I can go back anyway (maybe there is some Norman blood or something...). I love it here, I love being able to speak irish but the way we learn it is ridiculous and the stuff we're learning now for the leaving certificate (like English A levels?) is stupid 'cause I don't even use half them words in English!!

There is nothing wrong with Cork or Kerry accents- don't stereotype! Not everyone speaks with thick accents from around there. Many can be easily understood and lots of people think they've a lovey accent. When I go abroad I'm always understood and people think I've a lovely accent smile

The Irish are certainly associated with their welcome and enjoyable, easygoing attitude. "Craic" I guess that could be called fun..

I'm 1/4 Irish and would love to know more about the language. However, I've already got my plate full with the languages I'm taking. sweatdrop
