Kayne openly glared at the teacher, then glazed his eyes over emotionlessly.

"We went out to dinner. Another guy was with us. He opened his big mouth telling me how to treat my sister like it was his business. We had a small argument, then he left. Then Rashne opened his mouth to agree with him. I grabbed my sister and told her we were leaving. She refused, but I said she didn't have a choice. Rashne pulled my hand off of her and shoved me. We walked outside and I tackled him to the ground, hit him a bit... the usual fight stuff. Then Ms. Montecelli came and here we are," he said blandly, staring at a spot above Yusuke's head. Man... this was so stupid.

Jessica listened to Cirrus carefully as she set about making some tea. All important discussions should be had over a cup of tea. It was her firm belief.

She listened to the whole situation. What a mess. The over protective brother story was one she knew all too well. Sha had been stuck in the middle of it in her last relationship. Friends with the sister, dating the brother. She knew how stubborn they could be when it came to listening to outside advice.

"Forget this Ra boy and your brother for a moment." She said taking a seat next to Cirrus. "How do you feel about the way your brother treats you?" It was a loaded question, but one that needed answering. The way he had commanded her back outside the restaurant had hit a nerve with Jess, one that almost had her snapping at him for his behaviour.

Cirrus blinked her silver eyes at Jess for a few moments. She was confused by the sudden change of subject.

"How do I feel?" she repeated the question. "Well... I don't know," she shrugged, dropping her eyes back down to her lap. "It's a bit irritating now... but he has his reasons and he means well," she said quickly, looking back up. Her mind unwillingly went back to their childhood. Kayne had always been the one to protect her. He had suffered so much in order to do it, starting at an incredibly young age. Cirrus swallowed hard to try to get rid of the lump that had risen unbidden in her throat.

"I guess... I guess I just wish he would let me breathe a bit on my own. We're safe now. I don't need a pit bull by my side any more," she said softly around the lump that refused to go away. She paused for a moment, then looked directly into Jessica's eyes.

"He's not always like this. He's really quite sweet and gentle, except for where boys and I are concerned." Her mind went back to the restaurant and anger flushed her cheeks. Except for today, she thought. Today had been the first time he had ever tried to physically push her around.

As the kettle boiled Jess stood and moved towards it.
"Does he know you feel this way about it?" She asked pouring the boiling water into the pot. Placing the lid on she grabbed two clean looking cups and brought them back over to the sofa. "Have you tried to talk to him?"

"Well... I've tried a couple of times. But no... he doesn't know how I feel about it," she replied softly taking one of the cups from Jess and holding it down in her lap.

Jess shook her head and sighed.
"You need to try and talk to him about it properly if it bothers you." She said sitting on the sofa. She had no idea about their past, and in the unfamiliar office she had no means to look up this girl's records. "He can't keep you hidden and protected forever. Life doesn't work like that."

Cirrus shook head with a bit of a deer caught in the headlights look plastered on her face. "I know that... and I don't want it. But Kayne... really just doesn't want to hear it. I've really tried. But... as you can see... he doesn't always listen too well."

Jess smiled a little.
"You know, I have a friend just like your brother. He treated his sister exactly the same, bossing her around. Dictating what she should and shouldn't do." She took the cup off the table and held it in both her hand. "All she did is rebel. Whatever he told her not to do, she did. Ended up in a heap load of trouble. Kayne needs to know that whilst he thinks he is doing what's best for you, he isnt."

Sighing she looked up at Cirrus. "You need to be firm with him. You can't let him bully you all your life. Because brother or not that is what he is doing."

Cirrus sighed lightly. "Look... Ms. Montecelli... I know what you're trying to do. I appreciate the advice. But I'm not rebelling against my brother. I just ignore him when gets too much on my nerves. I just wish that he hadn't gone this far with his temper," she said, tucking her hair behind her ear.

Jess looked at her and raised an eyebrow. She had messed up her point, she hadn't meant that Cirrus was rebelling against her brother. She was a polite, nice girl.

"Maybe I put that wrong." She sighed taking a sip of tea. Advice had never been her forte especially not when it came to family. "But he did go that far with his temper. Over something that sounds as though it were pretty minor. What happens if like a guy, or guys show you attention. Which they are bound to do. Is he going to punch them all?" She paused and stared at the clock above the doorway. "Maybe it's not you I should be having this conversation with." She said with a small smile. "Though maybe I can do something. I noticed your brother's name on the sign up for Archery. It's a high discipline sport. Maybe I can show him how to use his anger to a positive output."

"Archery?" Cirrus repeated. That sounded about right. Kayne was always looking for sports. "That would be nice if you could. Honestly... the reason why we're here is because of Kayne.... getting into fights over me," she finally admitted softly.

Jess nodded.
"Well, hopefully we can do something to sort him out. Even if I do have to give him a taste of his own medicine." Jess smirked, obviously meanin the comment as a joke and reference to her break up of the fight. She sighed again.
"I would have liked to talk to both of the boys myself actually. I mean I've heard that the Ra boy is trouble, but still if I'm going to have to keep them in check..." She took another sip of tea and slid her slippers off her feet so that she could move to a cross legged position.
"How are you settleing into Aquila so far?"

"I love it here," Cirrus smiled fondly, thinking of the school. She felt safe here. It was the first place she had ever felt safe for as far back as she could remember. Slowly she lifted her tea cup to her lips and took a small sip. "I feel safe," she said softly after she had swallowed and lowered her cup back down to her lap. She studied Jessica's more comfortable position and slowly did the same. Obviously she wanted to talk some more, which was fine with Cirrus. She was still a little rattled by the events that had unfolded earlier and Ms. Montecelli was pretty cool about everything so far.

Jess smiled. She liked this girl. Totally the opposite from her brother polite, sweet and totally lovely.
"I'm glad you feel safe here." She said cupping the mug in two hands so that she could feel the warmth radiating from it. "I think that's important. Seeing as you are so far from home. And you are managing to make plenty of friends...despite your brother's interventions?"

Cirrus would probably think Jess was prying, but she wanted to make sure everything was all right for the girl. As much as she didn't really want to be teaching here she felt she had a responsibility to the students.

Cirrus thought about her question for a moment. Her mind racing back to that wonderful day she had enjoyed with Kade. A small blush crept across her pale cheeks. "I've met a whole bunch of people. But I've only made one friend so far," she smiled. The butterflies returned to her stomach at the memory of Kade's arms wrapped around her waist and his hand holding hers. That would have to be another issue to be addressed with her brother one day and clouds rolled across her silvery eyes.
