letterboxing sounds fun! Now I actually have something to do this summer! Other than that... I'm really too impatient to do Victorian hobby type things, unfortunately, which usually need lots of patience.

Knitting and crochet. They were popular among women, even men, on victorian era and are certainly useful for a lolita. With a bit of practice you can make your own socks and cardigans with wonderful free patterns around the net. Knitting is great for lacy fabric, and crocheting is great for making ending laces. For more information, see this article on knitting for lolitas. Also see Knitting and Crochet Central for a good directory of free instructions and patterns. (Do, however, make a few clicks on the sponsor links of these sites - helps to keep them up!)

I was so hoping someone would bring this back! I myself can actually crochet!!! It's surprising since I have an amazing lack of talent (besides being a know-it-all which I hate!) but I am by no means good at it but it's still fun!

I'm learning how to crochet; I know how to needle point. :3 But um...going to the zoo. x: I work there now too so that's kind of cool. XD Ha ha...Here's a big one some of ya'll are leaving out: reading. Although I doubt they read Forgotten Realms novels, but still. Fairs and festivals. I like going to those, especially when dressed lolita (it makes it so magical!). And of course, baking and making tea. :3

Seraphynthetic Ha ha...Here's a big one some of ya'll are leaving out: reading. Although I doubt they read Forgotten Realms novels, but still. Fairs and festivals. I like going to those, especially when dressed lolita (it makes it so magical!). If you havn't done it yet, I'd suggest reading Oscar Wilder and Jane Austen! I've got their collected works in large editions - not very romantic-looking, true, but I still get the kicks from reading actualy 18th and 19th century literature. ^_^ Especially when I can read them in the original language now - "The Picture of Dorian Gray" bewitched me in Finnish some years ago. Oh, and I do think fantasy themes are very Victorian reading - just mr. Wilde has alot of fantasy themes in his novels and whatnot. From the end of the 18th century to about 1830's the literature or Europe had a romantic phase when history and mythology were appreciated by the writers of the day. Symbolism was a similar period at the turn of the century. I'm still researching on literature of those days - I love to read, but I've got so little time.. sweatdrop In addition to fairs and festivals, I love going to theatre - especially if the plays are older, like Shakespeare, Wilde, Tsehow (et cetera) adaptations. We have plenty of theatres here that are owned by cities and have old - looking benches and stage frames, so I've always enjoyed going there.

I do some knitting and crocheting, but I'm not very good at either and can't make much... Needle point I tried, but I suck at it, though I'm working and getting better ^_^
Letterboxing sounds like a lot of fun, I wish I could do it sometime...

They played alot of parlor games.
Like checkers, and this card game where you played in two teams of two. I forget its name.
We learned that in socials o.O'
Any card game would go, I think~ They play cards in alot of Jean Asuten books at least. X3 I'd also play other old-fashioned table games, like backgammon(can't spell that properly) or chess.

Letterboxing sounds like a lot of fun. I should try it.
I do have a lot of tea parties, I love them. I used to crochet a lot and got into needlepoint but stopped as it was too time consuming.

Quote: Actually, I tried reading "The Portrait of Dorian Gray" a few years back, but it confused me and I was reading 3 other books at the time so I had to put it down. Today I went antique shopping (which any loli should do!) and browsed the book sections. I found Frank L. Baum's Oz series (I could only afford one so I bought one of the ones featuring my favourite character, Ozma), a 50s baking cookbook, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (in one volume), a book of Victorian fashion paperdolls from the 70s, and (what I consider my greatest find) the first volume of Poe's poem collections in the 1903 special edition "Raven Edition" with colour pictures! (it sounds sad, but full colour pictures printed at that time in a book was a BIG thing and expensive).

Not exactly tea parties, but sort of and I also take walks, but when I walk it's a really long walk.
