"Good bye little ones, have a safe journey!" Sinn called after them as they ventured out into the wide world.
"Mmm, I guess it kinda is. But if so, then every day is an odd day for me." she said with a laugh. "And if we see Sinn, that won't be the end of our quest, because he goes out all the time to find new lanterns for the shop." she explained. "The quest isn't over till we find your new lanturn!" she said. Toshi kept up a steady pace as she led her sheepish friend through the maze that was Spyre city. It wasn't long before they came to an arched bridge that spanned a river. She crossed it, pausing to peek over the side and look at the water before continuing once more. The bridge marked the farthest she had ever gone from home, so she had stopped to honor the occasion. She didn't say anything though since she didn't want to make Dusk nervous. She had memorized her map though and soon led the pair of them to the edge of the city. Before them was a road that crossed a wide open plain. "Well Dusk, here's where our journey really begins. Are you ready?" she asked, looking back over her shoulder at him, smiling lightly, her bright pink eyes aglow with anticipation.

"Ready? Not really, but I'll go with you anyway, yeah."
Dusk's face was set in stone, his eyes blinking as he viewed the new land before him. Everything was so new, with so many new smells and sounds and sights. Dusk knew he'd be okay though, since Toshi was be his side and he could always take her hand if he got scared.
"Lead the way Ton-chan, and I'll follow as always. Maybe on the way we should get presents for the others, since I know Mama loves to collect random things."
The sheep boy took a step forward on the bridge, the breeze rustling around him as he moved, almost as if it was bidding a silent farewell.

Toshi smiled and said "I'm glad. I'd be lonely without you Dusk." And so they started off down the road, Toshi leading Dusk by the hand, but keeping him at her side. The road was wide and open, a gentle breeze rustled through the tall grass on either side. "Isn't this great? The fresh air, all the pretty green grass, the wide open sky!" Toshi said with a merry laugh.

"I guess so, yeah. The grass looks good enough to eat, if I were fully a sheep, yeah. I've heard that eating grass is good for your stomach, I think."
Dusk looked at the green stalks as they waved around, his blue eyes following their moves with quiet observance. They smelt nice, and his ears fluttered up and down happily as the pair strolled along. The ground was nice, and Dusk was a bit warm in his wool sweater.
He couldn't take it off, of course, because he didn't think he had anything else to wear. Plus Toshi would most likely not want to see him shirtless, since it's a scary thing.
"Ton-chan, the air is nice, yeah. The breeze makes me itch though, this wool is hot."

"mmm, maye you should try rolling up your sleeves?" She suggested as they walked. She grabbed a piece of tall grass and rolled it idly between her fingers, humming as she did so, smiling to herself as she watched the blade of grass dance in her fingers.

Dusk nodded and did so, showing off the pale purple skin of his forearms. The breeze felt good against his sweaty skin, but having rolled them up made the resting place for the bundle even sweatier. None the less, Dusk wouldn't complain.
"Oh, Lune showed me a trick with grass one day a go. Would you like to see it?"
He reached down and took a blade of grass, putting it up to his lips and blowing. A shrill whistle filled the air, something between a squeak and a buzz.

"Wow! That's so cool Dusk! How do you do that?!" She asked, clearly impressed by his whistling trick. "I can whistle with my lips, but not with a piece of grass. Will you teach me?" she asked as they walked side by side, she smiling earnestly at her best friend.

Dusk looked back, his face stone but his ears bouncing happily at Toshi's compliment and request. Finally he could be of some use to her and teach her something, instead of it being the other way around.
"Sure, of course. Find a good blade of grass, yeah, then...."
Dusk trailed off and continued to tell Toshi how to blow the whistle, making sure to pause every few moments to demonstrate and give advice should it be needed. After he felt his walkthrough was enough, Dusk blew his grass whistle again and look at Toshi.
"Your turn Ton-chan, you can do it. Don't blow too hard though or you'll blow away the blade and spit on yourself."

Toshi watched Dusk's demonstration avidly, listening to his every word. She found herself a good piece of grass and did as he bid her. She tried once and failed, the second time the blade of grass broke. The third time though she was able to emit a small, high pitched whistle. "Did you hear that Dusk?! I did it!!!" she cried excitedly.

Dusk nodded, his face still stone but his eyes bouncing and his ears flapping. He clapped his hands together in excitement for his friend, and then wrapped his arms around her in a hug.
"See, it's so much fun. Sometimes Lune does nice things like this for me, so I love him too, yeah. He actually can cook too, I didn't know that, but Mama told me. I should get him something too, him and Sol, the Kind Other, yeah."
Dusk released Toshi from her hug, placing his hand to his mouth in thought. The blade of grass he had been holding quickly went into his jaws, and he chewed it as he mulled over whatever to do.
"Anyway, should we keep going? If we ever get lost now, we can use the whistles."

"Really, He cooks too? That is surprising." Toshi said as she was hugged, she hugged him back and then said "Yeah, we should keep moving so we can cover more ground before the sun sets." Toshi said with a nodd, starting off at a brisk pace again along the side of the road, motioning for Dusk to follow.

Dusk quickly trotted up to Toshi's side, his hair blowing about him in the wind. It felt nice to be outside with the grasses and the sunshine, and since he was with Ton-chan, his best friend, Dusk didn't mind being without Rown.
"So Ton-chan, what exactally are we doing? I know we're looking for something, but what? Will I know what it is when I see it on first sight?"

"Mmm well...We're looking for a lanturn for you that will make you stronger." She explained, brow furrowed cutely as she thought. "Lanturns like ours," she paused and showed him her glass one before continuing "stand out. There's something different about them than normal ones. Hakari say's it's because they're lit by souls instead of normal light or fire. I should be able to recognize it since I work with other ones alot in the shop. You should too if only just because you're a lanturn spirit too." She explained.

"Ah, I see yeah. Makes more sense then what I had originally thought, and I do understand that our lanturns are different. Mine never seemed to go out no matter how strong the wind was blowing and it didn't seem to run on batteries."
Dusk turned his right hand into a fist and plopped it into his left, giving the universal 'I got it!' sign.
"So we'll just now, yeah. I thought that might too, since I never seemed to like other lanturns...just the ones we have."

"Yup! You got it!" Toshi said with a giggle. She looked around as she kept walking down the dusty road, a breeze making her clothes and hair flutter a bit so that she had to run one haid through her unruly locks to return them to some semblance of order. The sun was beginning to set in the west as she said "Maybe we should set up a camp soon. It'll be dark soon."
