He made a mixed sound of curiosity and approval when she explained, and made a note to look into it in the back of his mind. "I'll keep a lookout," he said with a little nod, then took a deep breath as he sank into his thoughts about his sister's Wonder and what he might be able to reasonably expect.
Bamburgh glanced down at his uniform, his frown returning at the sight of the grunge and all, and heaved a little sigh. "I'd be surprised, honestly. I think Saturn knights lean toward gothic or horror or something, so I might be worried if Sir Lancelot did spend any amount of time in my...well. Whatever my Wonder has to offer." He shrugged. "A castle, if I had to guess."

Again, that pang at the idea that he was neglecting his Wonder; again, her internal argument that it was none of her business - and probably not even a bad thing - that he was. It was his life; she had just told him to take or leave as much as he chose. She wouldn't make herself such a hypocrite as to immediately walk that back. "He did," she said vaguely, "wander through a haunted castle once. But that wasn't Bamburgh. Anyway." Giving herself a little shake away from distracting thoughts, she turned towards him, suddenly very serious. "I know you feel obligated, because of your sister. But I just - God, I hate being some sort of - well. I guess I just feel qualified to dispense advice and I just want to reiterate what I already said: Fate is bullshit. Destiny is bullshit. Do what you want to do. We spend too much time making our lives into something they aren't for the benefit of other people. Don't do that with this life too, if you have a lick of sense."

He blinked at that, and looked down.
"I do want to look out for her," he said slowly, after just a few seconds of thought. "Done it my whole life, and happy to. She's my sister." He hated that he sounded like a child as he said it, but it was true enough. He looked over at Joy, managing a small smile and another little shrug.
"You look more than qualified to me, by the way. And I'm glad for the advice. I'm old enough I can take hard-to-hear things on the chin, so don't worry about that. And if it makes you feel better, I always do what I want. It just happens to usually involve my sister." He made a little gesture with his hand, something between uncertain and dismissive.
"Call it 'twin thing' or whatever."

Twins seemed to be haunting her a little lately, she thought, but she did not say it aloud - the details of another person's civilian life not seeming like her intelligence to share - and instead she gave him a wry, somewhat grim smile. "Not just twins. There for a while the only reason I bothered was thinking that if I didn't I might be leaving a world to my sister's kids that I couldn't stomach. But it does make me feel better to hear that you always do what you want. As long as it's not hurting someone, that's the best thing anyone can do." She put out her hand, then, apparently preparing to depart. "You should be able to reach out to me if you need me for something, or else your sister could, until you can. It's spelled the French way. Stay sane," she added, not unpleasantly. "We need more of that."

"Well," he said, giving her a bit of a cheeky grin as he took her offered hand. "I do try not to hurt people on principle, so pretty sure I'm at least steady on that front." His grip was gentle but firm, and he gave her hand a solid shake before letting go.
"But thank you. I'll be sure to remember the French bit if I do end up having to reach out. The staying sane part, too, as often as I can manage."
With that he bowed slightly and tipped his hat to her.
