The sail home was leisurely andpleasant, if mostly uneventful. They saw a few whales, a shark or two, and no small amount of the yaotl as it was their migration season. He found the large salamander type critters quite intimidating, but they did not seem to bug Kechiri at all, even when some of the biggest he had ever seen swam underneath the boat.
"Kechiri," he didn't squeak, but he also wasn't overly proud of the noise he did produce either. Some critters defied credibility with their size and power and nothing so much as things that lived in the water. Yaotl definitely fit the bill. They were surprisingly fast on land and absolutely terrifying in water. It and an orca were the last thing he wanted to see down there. And given a choice between the two, he would rather meet the orca.
"You don't think you will come up here? Would something that big unbalance the boat?" He had been born a creature of the earth, and all the desert of salt water was beautiful, and he was mostly comfortable there because Kechi had taught him the rules of the waves. And over time, he had relaxed a little bit, but still, she was a water baby. He was an earthling. He had never lost his respect for the depths, and how they could swallow a whole ship as easily as aldabuck ate an apple. The salamanders passed blithely below, unaware of the fear they could instill. People were but ants to them.

"Oh, that's just Bob and his girlfriend. It means we're close. They probably will not eat us. The boat would not tip either."
It had a very deep keel, so her own pets would could climb aboard. She had used Bob as their test subject in case she ever went to war again, and because she didn't want anything that's bigger than Bob on her boat. She would need a much bigger ship for anything larger, and that would need a larger crew, when sometimes it was spare picking ever since she had slowed her campaign down to take on motherhood instead. It was easier to get a good crew when you had a reputation.
"You know, it's strange. I'm just as nervous this time around as I was last time." It hadn't taken very long for the spark that had been her son to catch hold in her womb, and she had wondered if it would be easier to give birth to her second child. Vhallas had been a heavy, large baby, and Kechiri had been a bit easy to panic. He had been a bit of a breech birth too, and it all turned out in the end, but she was pretty sure the midwife had been shocked at her sailor's vocabulary.
Apparently, most women yelled or screamed, not. None had ever sworn a blue streak as long as she had. I but when he was born, all the pressure was gone, and she was left to recover with the teeniest, perfect baby in her arms. Raol had been outside waiting for her.

"Sure, yeah, just Bob and Lady Bob. No big deal."
He shook himself and refocused on her. "Parenting is scary, but we did great the first time, so I think it'll be fine the second time too, especially if this next child is as smart as Vhallas was."
He had been pretty obedient, becoming a little more rebellious as he grew older, which was not surprising, considering who his parents were. "We will figure it out. We always do. He held her to him for a moment and enjoyed the love and closeness that they shared, and to think that at one point in his life he had thought she would be alone forever. Kechiri made the sunshine for him, and she always faced life with such zest.
He adored her spirit and boundless energy, as well as her courageousness and will to fight by whatever means necessary, she did her best to come out on top every possible time, no matter the odds. It amused him. Don't end that this the thing she had already accomplished once and so well, was what actually scared her.
" I bet your dad was scared every time. I'm sure my parents were too, and yet I had survived. It will be fine. I don't know why you seem so worried. Anyway, just smooth sailing from here as the kinfa flies." He squeezed her hand in that comforting way, and then let go.

"You are right, of course," she muttered not at all wanting to admit it. Her mate was brilliant in his own quiet way. Vhal may look like her, but he was more similar to his dad by way of personality. She would probably need a daughter to show her what it was like to deal with herself, all the better for the grandparent she supposed they had dealt with her, the original.
"I expect my parents will be delighted. Ushiruin doesn't even have a girlfriend yet, so there will be no help for him grandkids from him in the near future, unless he miraculously performs an uncle Thal while we are not looking."
She hoped he didn't. She hoped that he found someone special for himself, just as she had though it had been in a sort of unexpected place. It had been the right person at the right time, and she had taken her sweet time to get around to it. There was no reason that her little brother might just follow something similar, and yet again, he was starting to travel more who knew where the fates had in store for him or her other siblings. Her own path seemed bright, clear and sure as life so often was not. It was a nice break from the murky green darkness that used to be, but something she guessed, the taste of adventure. This trip had been good, and she'd been able to have more adventures with Roal. However, adding to her family was the best adventure of all. Plus she had the intervening time to do whatever she wanted.

Raolvar 10.
He nodded at her. She was always competitive, especially with her siblings, sometimes with him, but it was usually more playful. It was a part of who she was. Well, it had been very good to be in the other bed for a while. He found the one on the boat quite cozy, so long as there wasn't a storm. The one in Menehune territory had been good, but felt way too long. He smiled at the memory of seeing it. It would take up most of the cabin on the ship. They had giggled.
Overall there had been many wonderful memories collected on their vacation.
" I'm glad we got to do this. Kechiri, I had a truly wonderful time."
It had been a long adventure for his old nomadic heart. Now on to things that resided a heck of a lot closer to home. Thank the gods. He missed the home food very very much at this point. Clouds gathered overhead. not a bad storm from the looks of it, a bit tossy with some rain was all time to batten down the hatches and ride another storm out. It helped a great deal that his mate was not even batting an eye at the storm clouds.
