I'm curious, is the discord active at all? I've been considering whether I should join but it would feel silly to get there and it turns out its a dead server sweatdrop
It isn't super active, but it is a great way to get ahold of people (like myself!) quickly, since we aren't always on Gaia.
But we'd love to make it more active, and if anyone has thoughts on how to amp it up, I'd love to hear them! heart

Wheeew, I puzzled over Challenge #2 for a bit, but I really like where I ended up with it!
Before I figured out my current look, I reeeeeally wanted to build around the Diamond Millenium top, as when you trace the inspiration all the way back, this item is inspired by Sailor Moon... from a character design inspired by a Dior gown from the 90's... that itself was inspired by ionic columns. But sadly basically all of the arm mods I wanted to use took it off, and the ones that worked with it covered it up so much that it was basically pointless. rofl

As a newbie to the guild, it certainly is intimidating. It seems like such a large competition, and to be honest, some of the instructions and roles are unclear. For example, I have no idea what the mentors actually do. Do they just provide feedback at the end of each round alongside the judges? What kind of interaction can we expect with other participants? Can we only submit with the model we were accepted with? And if challenges are usually posted on Sunday and due the following Friday, where are us full-time weekday workers supposed to find the time?gonk I'm sure a lot of it will make sense in due time, but this first round is definitely a whirlwind.
It's also so surprising to hear that there are a lot of new faces this time around. How active has the guild been in the past with existing members?
Oh, trust me, I am still very new to the guild myself. This is only my second attempt in the Cycle. Last Cycle I got eliminated in a challenge for adding too much to my models hair, but it was a lesson learned!
From my experience, here is usually how the challenges go: The challenge is posted and the time frame is given for entries. During the current challenge, you can reach out for a mentor for assistance, or even ask one of us here in designer chat for advice! Please don't be afraid to do so, everyone here from my experience is super sweet and very helpful <3 At the end of each round, all the judges will post feedback about the pro's and con's of your design :3 Yes, you can only submit entries with the model you won your audition with. Like myself, I won my audition with Kimber, so I can only use Kimber as my model. I felt this myself with the time frames! Most times I managed to squeeze in an hour after work to make it in time for the submission date, and it helped that most weeks I had Thursdays and Fridays off, so it was definetly a close call sometimes xD
Honestly, from what i've seen, the guild is pretty active with all its members! You see the most activity during the Cycles and the submissions, but there are plenty of other challenges to do where I catch long time members posting <3

Let's say you don't think the entry your working on fits the prompt, or if you feel something is off with your style, it could help having a second pair of eyes take a look at it. If your having trouble writing your description and want someone to look over it, I can do that and point out what your missing or what you should leave out.
I was in two cycles. One I made it to week 6, the other one I got second place in the cycle so I have a good idea what the judges look at when judging.

Just got around to seeing the responses today. Thanks for the warm welcomes and clarifications! I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone a bit better and interacting a bit more moving forward.

I was excited to do it but then my partner and I had a fight last night and I just wasn't feeling very romantically inspired after that.
Also if you aren't feeling a prompt sometimes its because you've taken it in the wrong direction. Maybe it needs some humor? or some spice? a little quirky nod perhaps?
Honestly you have 5 more days I would personally do at least one additional look just to play around in a different direction to see If you find something you feel more confident in.

i've had a super busy last week or so with work - inventory and our district manager there all weekend - but now that its all over i finally feel like i can focus but... i definitely feel a bit of struggle.
i'm definitely gonna try and get into a groove but i hear you. if you wanna chat it out my pms or discord are open heart
