[Risth's Entry - RP Etiquette]
Kikue walked slowly towards the nearest table, her eyes steady as she recognized the girl she had met before already seated there. There were no other Islanders at lunch at the moment, it seemed. Vaguely, Kikue remembered the girl's name -- "Alice," hadn't that been what she had said? Nearing her, Kikue noticed that she wasn't eating, and had seen her coming. Smiling slowly, yukata fabric brushing against her, Kikue stopped to stand next to the otherwise empty table. The food on Alice's plate was barely touched; some of it had been moved around, but that was all. Kikue decided not to remark on it -- Alice was probably upset about being stuck here, just like she was. Just like everyone was.
"I suppose you aren't too thrilled with the food," Kikue said, making sure to use English, after being invited to sit in the vacant seat across from Alice. Meeting Alice's eyes, Kikue smiled in what she hoped was an encouraging way. She tried not to let her own feelings leak into the expression. Everyone wants to leave here, but while we stay, we can't let each other fall apart... Kikue made as if to peer at Alice's disgarded plate, and then glanced back to her. "I hope the sushi is good. It'd be some consolation to being kidnapped."

With a plate of mostly green vegetables balanced carefully on his lap, Jonah kept an eye on it as he wheeled himself between tables. He'd never bothered to eat particularly healthily in his life, but ever since he'd been here, the green stuff had been looking more and more appealing. It still tasted crap, so not much had changed there. To his mind, the salad looked like something he'd feed to one of his wife's old pets, not something he'd eat himself. Still, his body seemed to think it was what he should it, so he went along with it.
As he pushed himself along, he didn't bother to look around the canteen, and so when Alice spoke to him, it took him by surprise. Glancing across - the canteen being one of the only places he could actually see eye-to-eye with people - he half thought about telling her to pike off. Since he was stuck on the bloody island like everyone else though, he could at least make the attempt to not be a moody b*****d. It didn't come very naturally, but he made the effort. Pushing a few chairs out of the way, he maneuvered himself to the end of the table and dumped his plate on the surface before bending down to apply the brakes to his chair.
"I take me own everywhere I go. Saves time." He said glumly with a non-convincing smile, before stabbing various leaves and other greenery with his fork. After he'd swallowed them, he noticed her distinct lack of appetite, looking at her from the sides of his vision. Hovering his fork over his plate, he raised an eyebrow. "Not 'ungry?" The place wasn't five star, but it wasn't like the food was awful. Only half swallowing a second mouthful in between comments, he attempted to keep his food in his mouth as he talked. "Maybe you've been 'it by the same thing everyone else 'as 'ere. Seems like there ain't anybody who isn't fecked up, even if they look normal." After that, it looked like Jonah had used up his word quota for a while, as he shut up and ate his food. His mind on the things he'd seen since he got here, his forehead folded itself into a mild scowl as he finished off the greens.

Thank you so much to all who entered- and like I said, don't fret if this opportunity didn't pan out for you... because I'm putting up another one (hopefully tonight, if all plans go well.) ^_^ Anyway- based on the great spread of entries, I had to go beyond just the two 20k scholarships. +[Genn]Winners of a Partial Scholarship- 10k -These partial scholarships are going to those people who made the shortlist of one of the judges... but didn't quite squeak into the top for with a consensus of votes. <3 These people will, if they enter another scholarship opportunity- be allowed to either enter a 10k category, or even the 20k category (which, if they win the latter, they can then ask for their 10k to be redistributed to the fund, or given to a particular quester's scholarship fund. <3) Or, if they don't enter any other- the 10k will still be paid to the IoDM for them, should they ever win a flatsale. But wait... there's more... There are two people who, though they didn't make all the judge's top lists, had something in their entry that made me smile. Thus, the 5k scholarship is born. Same thing: they are free to enter any other contest and add to this. <3 +Randy2Love: One of the judges said something great- that although her character didn't know Alice's name... it didn't just pop out of nowhere. +Risth: This phrase gave me goosebumps: "She tried not to let her own feelings leak into the expression. It will be MUCH different- and open up the contest to YOUR strengths. *faints* Hocrap! I can't believe I got a 10k scholarship... eek The thing about me is, that I try my hardest not to control someone elses character, so with my post I had to wait for a reaction from Alice before I could continue. But, yay! whee
