“Is that so?” Talisia let out a soft laugh. “I suppose that’s fair.” She admitted after a moment. “Still, I would rather have no injured animals even if that meant a boring day around here.” It felt like they had a new rescue every other day lately, the spring bringing in a flurry of requests from the villagers and from travelers alike. It did keep her pantry full at least as many of the locals traded her goods for her help, leaving Talisia with little worry about baking or cooking even with Zyphire gone.
“Would you like some tea? You did well, Ziya.”

“A break? I must have done amazingly.” Ziya joked lightly as he grabbed a pair of mugs for them. “I’ll take some though. We still have some bread from Liyle, right?” They had helped her with a pair of roati the other day, the girl returning with freshly baked bread from her family as thanks for helping their familiars. Maybe running an animal sanctuary wasn’t the worst idea. It looked like it was more profitable than he had thought. Much better than just assuming Tally helped people for free all the time….though she actually rarely asked for anything in return. It worked out that the locals didn’t want to simply take advantage of her, so she got all the free goods for her help.

“Enjoy it. We have more work this evening, you’ll have to help me inspect the stitches on that raptrix.” Even though he was wild the concoction she had fed him before working on the stitches had calmed the thrashing beast down and despite his display with Flit, Ziya had proven more than capable with the raptrix. “In all sincerity though you are doing well. I’m happy to have such a good student.”

“Is that so?” Ziya smiled as he placed a kettle of water on the stove for it to boil. “I’ve had a good teacher, so I’m happy to learn.” And he sincerely meant that as well. So far his time at the sanctuary had been really beneficial and he was eager to return back to the Ild’vann and share his lessons with anyone else that wanted to learn.

Talisia simply smiled as she gathered the herbs for their tea and brought out slices of bread. It did seem that this was truly a good relationship and she was grateful that Zyphire had come into their lives and brought so many others through the Ild’vann. Even if she didn’t completely understand the way of lives that the hunters lived, she did appreciate her cousins and was more than delighted to welcome them into her home whenever they wanted….especially if they didn’t mind helping out like Ziya was. The very thought brought a soft chuckle to her lips, Talisia knowing just how much they liked to tease her about the never ending chores. Running a sanctuary like this wasn’t a simple task, so of course she appreciated all of the help. How could she not?
