Ida nodded thoughtfully, tapping a finger against her lips.
"Yeah, I suppose it would be nice if we didn't hurt any of the plants here if something went wrong... Why don't we move out into the meadow? There is lots of open space there." She said as she reached out to take her partner's hand.
"C'mon. Its not very far."
Out from the tower, past the line where the tree buildings stopped, was the large meadow Ida typically landed in when she came to her asteroid. It was the first place she'd ever landed, and that gave it a nostalgic air to it. Grass stood hip high all around them as she waded out into it, leading her bonded. Hidden in the grass, flowers added their sweet scent to the air, now joined by the lazy drone of the insects that had returned to Ida since that first day she'd arrived.
"Alright." She said when she finally let go, putting some distance between the two of them and turning to settle herself facing Illyria. "We can definitely start with defense first. Let me know when you are ready, and I can try shooting one of my lower level attacks at you. You've probably see it before, but its just a bunch of little darts that spray out in front of me. They shouldn't hurt too much, even if you don't manage to block them, but I'm sure you'll do just fine." She said with a confident smile, nodding to her friend.
She waited for Illyria to call she was ready, and then swept her hand in front of her, calling up a trail of glowing petals that hardened into little needles and sprayed out before her towards the sailor cat.
Sailor Scout Attack: Beautiful Petal Darts!
[What it does] A thrown hand casts a cloud of orchid petals, which harden into needle-like darts that fly in the direction the petals were first cast. Downside to this attack is its lack of accuracy with a single opponent, and lack of strength against multiple enemies. Its merely a spray of needle-like petals with some velocity behind them. The petals don't do much in the way of damage and are equivalent to paper cuts... irritating but not actually damaging. As any cuts received are barely skin deep, clothing can protect against this. Range is short, about five or six feet. Can be used twice per battle.Twice will exhaust her and she will have to retire from the fight until she's rested.

As Ida suggested, the meadow seemed like a perfect place to at least hopefully demonstrate her new abilities to her bonded partner. She would go on the defensive first and as she looked across to where Ida was now standing Illyria's fingers balled into a loose fist before she took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. It wouldn't do her any good if she were tense. Although in a battle situation wasn't being tense a good thing? Letting out one more slow breath did the Mauvian give a signal to Ida to say that she was ready.
Ida's magic had always fascinated Illyria. She'd witnessed most of the range of the Orchid senshi's magic by now and so with the call of Ida's basic senshi attack she drew herself up and called up her own defensive attack. The petals that flew from Ida shimmered briefly before they encountered a barrier. Whirling petals surrounded Illyria as she simply stood within. She knew that the shield she was covered by moved with her and she could have simply darted out of the way but Ida wanted to see what her magic would do.
Even as a petal dart of Ida's magic broke through did Illyria simply allow the magic to strike her. She flinched at the brief stinging sensation before she felt another pinprick hit, and then another. It seemed as if parts of Ida's attack were getting through the barrier and perhaps she wasn't surprised by it. All in all she was basically unscathed by the petals that had managed to hit her and she shrugged off the brief unpleasant sensation as her barrier disappeared.
"Ouch. Somehow I think there's still gaps in that barrier I have. Things still manage to get through."
When the barrier dropped, Ida trotted over to give Illyria a look over and make sure what magic had gotten through hadn't really hurt her bonded. Her basic magic wasn't that powerful, but Illyria was special to her and she didn't like the idea of her getting hurt in any fashion.
"You'll have to be careful not to rely on it too completely." She said with a nod as her eyes swept over her friend. "Be prepared for some things to get through it... Lets try again, and see how long you can keep it up."

The time spent testing the new form was a pleasant one, spent together with her bonded, in a place that always put Ida at ease. They were able to find the limits of the magic, both offensive and defensive, and how long Illyria could hold the form before it ran out of energy and faded. They figured out that the barrier could only really cover Illyria, and being outside of six feet made her offensive magic not as effective. Ida was pleased that they had a good idea of how it all worked, by the end. Illyria would be able to hold her own in battle even better than before, and that was one worry Ida could set aside when they were together.
"Are you ready to head home?" She said finally as she crouched down, opening her arms to the Mauvian.

Sweat had begun to dot her forehead just before the device seemed to power off on it's own. Illyria had been almost ready to attempt launching a sneak attack on Ida from behind when the feeling of exhaustion overwhelmed her. Her form shimmered once and all the changes that her magical transformation had brought disappeared all at the same time. Her momentum faltered and she staggered before she felt even her humanoid form leave her. There was a niggling doubt in the back of her mind that running the transformation for the full allotment of time was a bad idea if it were to leave her this worn out afterwards.
It'd had been an interesting learning process though to say the least. Practicing with Ida away from the chaos of Destiny City had been a relaxing experience and she had been happy for how the time had gone by. There'd been laughter and mishaps, but in the end, it was like she and Ida had figured out what she could do.
Pulling herself to all four paws Illyria willingly draped herself into Ida's arms, content on all accounts. She could fight just a little bit better at Ida's side. In time, things could only improve. At Ida's words Illyria turned over onto her back before feeling her whiskers twitch. Her gaze took in everything around her before she gave the simplest of nods, "let's go home."
