There was just enough time, barely, for him to brace himself as his bow melted away into his blade. That sound of metal on metal rang out and with it, the piercing ring of the crystal rings as they vibrated. He felt something give a bit in his shoulder though, where all that tension from his coughing rested and he stepped back to try and get a moment. That tightness in his chest came back, trying to send him into a coughing fit but he pushed it down as best he could. It showed on his face though, for a split second before he reigned it back in.
That ringing calmed back down into a hum as he held the rapier at the ready. By now the sound didn’t bother him, didn’t register in his mind when it rang out but he also knew that the other trick of things might not work against Beni. It had worked with the senshi because usually they weren’t ones with weapons and he’d surprised her. This was different though, the small general before him was used to using their weapon and knew how to use it well.
------------------------
That was something new, something unexpected. A secondary weapon and something else had caught his attention as well. Part of him wondered if Chalcanthite’s shoulder had given from the blow but it was hard to tell. He’d take a look after the spar though depending on how it ended it may be his cousin who needed a check-up more.

A blade? How in the hell did the other get a blade? It wasn’t just anything either it was a rapier. He had learned to fence, like many family members, while growing up but he’d never really taken to it. That wasn’t to say he was unskilled but he wasn’t the best either, there were far more skilled people in his family, so he knew what the other had for a weapon but the how was what left him confused.
The confusion didn’t last long as a ringing, and a vibration, shook his frame and seemed to reach down into his bones and rattle things inside him. What was going on he didn’t know but as he landed on his feet, and the other put some distance between them. While he knelt on the ground he felt a smile tug at his lips. The other had some tricks up their sleeve it seemed but so did he.
Holding onto his weapon, which had slipped from his fingers due to it’s vibrating, the blond aimed the spear towards the other. Pushing on the magic he knew his weapon now possessed, it was something he rarely used. He didn’t think, though he knew it would be close, if the others watching would be caught by the magic of his weapon. Watching as the icy arrow formed he watched it let itself fly towards the long haired general.
She hadn’t ever seen him use that bit of magic, but she knew he could do it, he’d told her about it. But to see it in action was something. “Ice and ivy….I don’t know how those two things work out, they shouldn’t, and yet he has a theme it seems.” Considering his uniform and the colors he wore not to mention she knew, unlike others, that if he were a knight he’d belong to Castor who was the senshi of hail.
“It seems the two are both putting each other to the test even if Benitoite is less organized.” He was no less vicious which at least was something, at least he wasn’t lacking in that area. “I believe I heard of the weapon thing Chalcanthite just did…something with youma and melding them with weapons….a sacrifice I think.” She spoke softly looking to Lorcan. “It is something you could do if you bonded to a youma. Benitoite can’t…he hasn’t had a youma in a very long time - since Bazzite.” She whispered, a sadness coloring her words and tilting her ears downward. She knew how much that had hurt the other, how could she not? She had lived with him and saw him when he came home the night Bazzite left him.
Perhaps though he would seek a youma once he knew about this, knew what it could do for him, it would help in future battles if he had this skill as well.

There wasn’t much he could do aside from trying to block but that hadn’t been enough as the ice shattered and the freezing cold settled into him. It was like that plunge he’d taken into the puddle, sending him down to one knee as he started coughing and struggled with his breathing. His lungs burned from how cold he felt and the whole area and air around him had frozen as well.
He tried getting back up, dismissing his weapon for a moment as he tried to settle the coughing back away. It had been a very long time since he’d been hit with any sort of magic and it still wasn’t a pleasant feeling nor something he really missed. Heaving himself back up, he drew his weapon again, that soft humming sound radiating out from him as he tried readying himself for the next blow.
-----------------------------------------
Watching the magic from his cousin left a bit of a sour taste in his mouth, he still didn’t like the stuff but the ivy made sense for his small cousin. It had been something he’d noticed worked into the design of his uniform. “I noticed that as well, a theme of both though I didn’t know about the magic. Though I do know of bonding with a youma, at least in theory.” Bazzite… he hadn’t heard that name but the context helped match it to what his cousin had told him during one of those chess games. A youma he’d made himself, not on purpose though. He could understand why they hadn’t bonded or made a new youma after something like that even if he may have handled things differently.
Sitting up more, he watched Chalcanthite go down and heard some worrying signs as they coughed and wheezed. Looking over towards Liam he spoke up a bit. “I can see what you mean about him, he’s pretty bad off it seems. Does this happen only in the cold or all the time?” Why not start some of the preliminary questions while things seemed to be winding down in a way? Odds are this would be over soon one way or another if his cousin was keen on keeping the promise of not interfering with one’s real life.

“When it’s cold out he gets like this but also when he pushes himself too hard, it’s a good thing he has a bow for a weapon.” Since he didn’t need to get as hands on as others did, because he didn’t think his partner could manage it. He would be more worried if the other had to get physical in fights, because he didn’t think they could do it. “Sometimes, a lot of the time, when he’s sleeping as well. It’s a wheezing sound and it just doesn’t sound good. I’ve been worried but he keeps refusing a doctor, until I think I broke him down recently.” He whispered, looking at Lorcan as he fiddled with his fingers.
If this could help Aloysius then it was ok to tell someone all of this, especially if this person was also in the Negaverse and was part of Benitoite’s family. Anything he can do to help the other…because he cared.
“He’s down to his last cigarette…I finally have him quitting.”
Watching the other the smaller general waited, expecting something, the other really didn’t sound good and he wasn’t going to continue this any longer. “Do you yield?” He questioned, a tilt of his head. As much as he wanted a fight, a good fight, and a spar like this was thrilling enough for him he knew he couldn’t sacrifice the others health for his own need to do something with himself. He knew his own thrill wasn’t worth more than the others health, he had someone seated not too far away who cared for him.
“I believe your partner would like your company, as you seem to not have fared well against my last attack.” The other had someone who cared..someone whom he wasn’t blood related to. Maybe he was a bit jealous…or maybe just wishing he’d gotten lucky in his own life. But it didn’t matter and the feelings were dismissed rather quickly as the blond waited for the others answer.

Taking a step forward he tried to shake off the cold, gritting his teeth. He had to be fine, had to work through it and keep pushing. “No, we can continue. I am fine.” Teleporting forward and behind the other, he checked them with his shoulder to try and down them. He could still feel that stirring in his lungs, could feel a bit of lightheadedness from where he had had trouble breathing but he pushed it off.
He had to push himself, had to make sure that everyone here knew what he was capable of. If only to provide a reason for others to let him have that peace and quiet he wanted. Grabbing the blond by the hair, he yanked them down the rest of the way and stabbed his rapier through the layers of their clothing to pin them down. “You saw nothing, and this needs to stay a secret. With all the aid I provide you, you can at least keep a secret right?” Looking over towards Liam and Lorcan, he figured that things were already out of his hands but he still drove the point across. There was no room for argument in his tone, even as his breathing came out ragged.
-------------------------------------
“I see, I think I have an idea of what is going on but I’ll have to do a few x-rays to make sure.” A smoker avoiding a doctor really wasn’t uncommon but he wondered how long they’d been at it. It was something he’d figure out and work on finding out some more information about youma while he was at it. “Depending on what's wrong that may be enough on its own to settle things down but either way I can slot him into my schedule by the week's end.”
Looking over he saw his cousin on the ground with the other pinning them, it was a sight to see. Maybe it might get his cousin to settle a bit by being forced to stay still but odds are that wouldn’t be enough. Hopefully, this spar had gotten some of the steam blown off, he’d try prying a bit more maybe later. He had to figure out something to do to help his cousin before they got hurt in a serious way.
---------------------------------------------
The whole thing had been back and forth and it was a bit unsettling to watch. It wasn’t really her way of things to be actually fighting like this but she could tell that even her brother had some skill in this. More than a little if she was being honest and she didn’t really quite like the implications of things even if she was another person who helped Liam. Maybe she’d ease off on them a bit, try and play nice a bit more just in case. At least until she heard him hacking up a lung, that little idea that things still might end with him dropping dead was still there. Maybe things would just run its course and she wouldn’t have to play a hand in it? Looking over at Liam. “You really do have him cleaning up his whole act, don’t you? First the drinking and now the smoking, whatever you’ve been doing is working.” She felt a bit odd about how open this all was though, it wasn’t really the Sharp way but Liam cared too much. It worked out most of the time and she liked that about him but still, it felt odd hearing weakness brought up and shaken out for everyone to hear.

“I do care, I really do.” Nodding his head to Melody’s words he couldn’t help but smile. “I haven’t had much in my life that was mine, and only mine, but what I do have I plan to keep.” No matter what, he would do what he had to. Even if he aired out some secrets he’d do it if it would help Aloysius, because the other wasn’t allowed to leave him. “If you can arrange things Lorcan and let me know when you need us I’ll make sure he’s clear to go.” He’d personally clear Aloysius’ schedule so he could meet with the doctor. Things needed to get done and he’d see to it.
“I’ve been trying for a while Melody. He’s helped me and I’m going to continue to help him as well. It’s just a bit of a process…it can’t just be done all of a sudden, that’ll just fail and cause more issues.” And would see to it that the other wouldn’t want to continue trying to get better.
Forced to the ground, he hadn’t been expecting to be grabbed by the hair and pushed to the ground, the blond had gone with the movement rather than have his hair pulled out of his head. Being pinned to the ground was another matter altogether and not one he liked…but there was something there, something in the others eyes and voice kept him from fighting as much as he wanted to. Normally he would not tolerate this, would fight against it, but he didn’t as he lay there staring up at the other.
“I’ll keep a secret but you should look out for your health - if not for your sake than for his.” He spoke softly, so no one else could possibly hear. He didn’t want Katya to even hear him. “You have someone precious who would miss you.”

Letting go of their hair as they settled down, he got up and off of them. “I know, I know. But now you know why I am staying back. We can call this a draw though if you would like.” Offering his hand to pull them up, he dismissed his weapon so they could get back up. He really felt it now, the lack of sleep settling in among other things. So much had happened in the past few days and it was all hitting him at once. He let his uniform melt away as well, back to the vest shirt, and pants he’d been wearing before. The cold air got to him still so he coughed a bit more, not nearly as bad as when he’d been hit by that frozen arrow.
“Time to head inside, you can all come along. I can make some tea for those who prefer that but I am sure Liam has other things stocked in the fridge as well.” Speaking loud enough for everyone to hear, he made his way over towards Liam.
----------------------------------
“Ah, looks like it’s over. A good match I’d have to say. I'll make a special time slot available on Saturday if that makes things easier. I have a small clinic space in my home that I use when patching up Alexandre so that can work. We can figure out the details in time.” It would be another project of his, something to pass the time between his other responsibilities. At least he could try prying a bit more into things for the Negaverse as well, at least with how easy things seemed to flow from this blond.

Freed from the others weapon the blond sat up slowly, his weapon vanishing as he sat there on the ground for several moments. “It’s because of him that you should fight more. To protect him and the future, to keep order from winning.” He whispered, words spoken softly as his blue eyes sought his fellow generals. Letting his uniform melt away he stood up, with the others help. “It’s why you should train more. To better fight.” Sighing he glanced towards the audience they had and smiled then.
“I’ll make coffee and you can make tea, seeing as I did start this whole thing. I’ll even make the tea, I’m rather good at it.” That way his cousin could also take the time to look over the other. “In fact, I insist on making both coffee and tea for everyone.” And he’d find something for himself to drink since he drank neither of those things, and he doubted the other had an espresso machine in his home.
“Yeah, and it was a good match. I don’t normally get involved with the negaverse, or get close to them, so I don’t see how well some of them can fight. The dark mirror tries to keep itself separate from both factions.” Because they really couldn't risk gaining one side, or the others, anger and becoming an enemy to either group.
“Saturday would be perfect, I appreciate the help.” More than Lorcan would ever know. Because it gave him a rush of relief, he didn’t need to worry anymore about a doctor. Aloysius would see someone, now and on Saturday, and they could figure out what was going on .The other would be taken care of and it left him feeling good….really good. Because he could take care of Aloysius now.
“Both are rather skilled.” Nodding her little head Katya silently jumped off the bench and headed towards the two, knowing the others would follow her. “Let us get inside and someone can get me something to eat.” Because she was hungry and someone was going to feed her - no was not an answer she would accept. “Perhaps some fish if possible.” She was picky but she was willing to go for things she normally wouldn’t…or at least lower her standards a bit.
Already Katya had decided, after spending time at Lorcan’s side, that she would be visiting him more often. His petting was very nice and he was such a calming person, unlike her general at times, Alexandre could at times get to be a bit dramatic for her…especially right now. She and Lorcan should talk about this.
