Whistling for a moment, he started to connect the list of incidents with the scars he’d seen. It gave him a bit of satisfaction as he went through things in his mind. Sighing at the mention of magic and things he nodded. “Stichtite, since it seems I’ll be doing a lot of patch jobs from now on for you. At least with my skills, you shouldn’t get as many scars. I’ll make sure you don’t get banged up too much Benitoite, or can I just call you Beni?”

“I have a habit of getting banged up rather often. Senshi and knights like going for Generals…” Shrugging a bit. He had a target on his back for a long time, in the beginning order was more dangerous it seemed, as time went on the target was because he was a general and not because order was so intent on taking out chaos. But perhaps it was also because of who he was? He wasn’t a General King but he’d been around long enough to hold his own in a fight. He was worth being noted on a battlefield he supposed.
“Can you feel my aura? You have one as well and senshi and knights will sense it. Take Katya with you, or I will when we go out, she can cancel out our auras so they won’t sense us.” But they’d be able to sense senshi and knights. “You’ll get used to sensing them and figuring how far off they are…even direction.” Sometimes you could sense someone and know who it was as well, though that was harder and took skill.
“To power down just focus on it, will it away.” And he powered down with ease himself. “It comes and goes as you want it…same for the weapon, though I doubt it’ll be much use right now in a fight.” Unlike his own weapon. A real one was earned…something you grew into.
“Never power up at home…like we just did. We’re lucky now but it might not always be the case. If a passing senshi or knight senses you they will come. Power up, and down, a block or two from home and walk the rest of the way. I won’t have someone tailing you home and deciding to off you in your sleep.” Though he did wonder if his cousin might take to sleeping with a weapon under his pillow now…just in case.
“And starseeds.” Gesturing to the one on the table still. “They can heal some wounds, it varies, and replenish some energy. However, they can become addictive and too many can break a person…turn them into a monster that is no longer human. I’ve seen it happen. Crush a starseed inside a person's chest…they become a monster…barely human at best and willingly to do whatever you tell them. It’s a pitiful existence and a horror to see and feel the change, while your arm is held captive in their chest.” He spoke from experience, obviously. “If you are going to play with souls be careful cousin, please.” Seating himself, slowly, he stretched a bit even if it was painful to do.
“If you have questions - ask. Personal, Negaverse related, anything and I’ll answer. I owe you that and more.”

“That’s a bad habit to have without having access to a good doctor.” Crossing his arms, he noticed something in his hand. It jingled a bit though the sound was dulled by layers of rust. It was a ring of keys, old and rusted. Each one had a slightly different size and shape though all looked like something from an old jail house. “You mean this is a weapon? What am I supposed to do, give them tetanus?” Running his fingers over them, nothing flaked off. So… can’t even give someone tetanus
He’d felt something, but it was a bit much and made his brow furrow as if trying to fight off a rising headache. He then focused on an image in his mind, of a light switch being turned off, and then the uniform and set of keys melted away and he was back in his sweater and pants. “So like tracking in a way, sounds like something I could get the hang of. Though yours felt like getting hit by a train, maybe it’s because everything is new there’s no scale for me to compare to yet?”
Looking at the starseed, he took a chance and picked the thing up much like someone picking up a piece of dog s**t. Holding it up against the bright light of his office he looked through the thing. “I see, so even magic can be addicting? And this powering up, I guess it would be like a tracking beacon, and is Katya a magic senshi as you said or are there other abilities that people like us have?” Handing the starseed back to his cousin he washed his hands in the sink, cleaning off whatever residue it might leave on him. “So as long as I don’t follow in Faust’s footsteps there shouldn’t be any problems? I don’t really intend or want to play god with something as transient as a soul, even if that proves there is a physical form for them.”
Sitting back down on the stool he thought for a moment. “Let’s move upstairs, I was playing a game of chess before you interrupted. We can exchange questions and answers over a game?” Smiling slyly for a moment, he was excited to have someone to play against. It was getting boring trying to play against himself.

“That is part of it but mine is still going to feel large, and heavy, to you at least for now. A General king or General Queen is going to feel heavier and larger than my own.” And he wouldn’t even get into their Queen or Metalia. Both of those were enormous and made him feel small when it came to those sorts of things. “The strength of an aura will give way to how strong they are before you even see them. Your range of sensing will also expand as you gain in rank. So right now I’d sense you before you would sense me…” Which meant a super or eternal senshi, or the knight equivalent, would sense Lorcan before he’d pick up on any of them. It meant they’d come for him before he could run or decide to go after them himself.
“Yes, it is like a beacon and Katya is a alien cat called a Mauvian. She serves the same side as us and assists by finding senshi we can bring to our side first. Their magic helps to balance our weapons. Katya enjoys helping when she can remove her nose from a history book.” Rolling his eyes at that. She was more interested in books, and what luxury goods she could steal, than any other Mauvian he was certain of that. Rolling his eyes, as he knew he wouldn’t beat Lorcan in chess, he motioned for the other to lead the way. “I won’t win but at least I can put up something of a fight.” Shaking his head he couldn’t help but laugh. Powering down as he trailed right behind his cousin, up the stairs and into the main room wher Lorcan had been entertaining himself.
“So far there are three factions in this war. On the order side you have senshi, knights and mauvians. The mauvians are needed to awaken a senshi and upgrade them each time. Remove the cats and remove the senshi’s source of power, it’s bad enough they awaken pre-teens. They shouldn’t be allowed to awaken any senshi to order.” Before he got carried away, because he really disliked order and their cats, he took a breath to reign himself back in.
“We serve chaos which is the Negaverse. We have officers like ourselves, corrupt senshi and corrupt Mauvians like Katya. The other side is chaos…but they keep neutral. As a whole the dark mirror senshi are not looking for anything which would interfere with our wants or those of order. They are a small group of energy gathering senshi who are simply looking to exist. I’m alright with them and I’m on good terms with their prince, princess and several other members. They make good allies and I’m not looking to fight them. They are chaos…even if it’s not our brand of chaos.” So they got a pass from him, plus he remembered when they’d had an alliance with them.
The dark mirror were ok, in his opinion, he didn’t care that they didn’t serve the same chaos. They still served chaos and they tended to keep out of things. It all worked for him. “Recently some actual aliens have arrived, non-human skin tones and all. Some have sided with us and some with the senshi, that made things a bit more of a mess to be honest. I’m more interested in dealing with the clear cut things…senshi and knights - they need to die.” He wasn’t going to give chances to them to change sides, he’d leave that to others…to those who were better than he was. He’d tried that in the past.
Following his cousin up and into the living room, eyeing the chess board, he found himself going for a drink first. Helping himself to a bottle of water from the fridge.
“This whole thing, all of it, is the continuation of an ancient war. Over a thousand years ago. Everyone got reborn and it’s restarted sort to speak.” His cousin liked history and would no doubt be interested in things, in the past, he also might find a cat who read history books interesting. Katya might like him as well…though he’d never pamper her like she wanted…from everyone. Though maybe that was the one thing Lorcan would like? A cat…he didn’t seem interested in dating, or anything else, so was he a cat person in disguise? Though only if it had no hair…because any cat with hair would certainly be an issue. At least a hairless one couldn’t shed and he could bathe it as well.
Maybe that was a Christmas gift idea for his cousin..a sphinx cat….

Face deadpan he stared at them. “Alien cat?” Dragging his palm down his face he breathed in and then exhaled a sigh at the absurdity of it. “Okay and then there are the two opposing sides with peppered neutral factions and you have befriended royalty? Truth be that last part seems up your alley.” They’d always been more posh and showy of their status while he’d just lived in his own lane and world without bringing any attention to his family ties. It was easier because he had his father’s last name, it gave him a bit of distance where it mattered while still being part of the family. Taking his seat at the board, he reset everything and pulled the clock out from the little side drawer on the table. “Sounds very intense and a bit absurd, though I think it could be interesting regardless. I think I’ll keep my focus a bit closer-knit and more secular. Serving the family and keeping an eye out for those senshi from the other side. The simple things at first and maybe I’ll revisit that bigger picture later on. You can tell me a bit at a time, I don’t intend on going anywhere, not that I ever considered it before either.” Leaning over the table, he brushed a bit of dust off the clock before settling back down. “Black starts first considering this occasion, your move.”
