The crossing of the waves went well and from there the journey seemed shorter than it had the last time, finally they were in place and ready for when the time came. It would take a while still, they had shown honour by coming as fast as they did. They rested and he enjoyed a very special sort of attention, there were a lot of curious females trying to get good looks at his face. These ones must not have ventured too far from the mother tree and did not often see people with beards. He blushed. He was happy that Zuella did not stray too far from him. She seemed to think his predicament an amusing one, well he was not amused. He wasn't sure what to do but well it was a tad embarassing when you were used to blending mostly in with others. There were at least a few icelings that also braved Matori's heat, but he wasn't sure how many of them thrived out here, maybe he should look one day. Start counting how many of his tribesmen he saw. He didn't really miss the cold of his homeland or the icey stares of its people. He belonged here in Jauhar and in Matori.

They were able to relax and have banquets celebrating the blooms, she enjoyed feeding Kellye all of her favorites from childhood. Giggling at the ones he didn't like. There were some of his foods she wasn't fond of but over all they ate a mix of both cuisines, however some alk dishes were so rare they trotted them out during ceremonies like this. It was a very special time and she was grateful to her family for making it happen and making her and Kellye feel welcome at this point in their expectant parenthood.
She was having the time of her life, and ever the great even crept closer, she and Kellye spent every moment together, waiting for the summons to receive their new baby. She wasn't sure she had ever obsessed over anything like this ever but her mothering instincts were already revved up high. She would be the best Mama possible. Zuella would teach them about all the plants, and Kellye could teach them about all the fish, then they would never grow hungry.

He squinted at her, she was smiling away about something and he wondered if it was perhaps at his expense. She had such a sunny, goofy sense of humor, it was adorable. She was too cute for words. She also moved like she was on pins and needles. One tiny sound out of place and they were both on edge. Any moment now.
He shook his head and stroked a hand down her leg, trying to calm her down as well as himself. This was an old trick that helped them sleep at night. It was the same way you brushed down an animal. Smooth and steady and comforting. Sometimes he made the same motion on his own thigh when he was really scared or anxious at nighttime. It was something he used to do as a child and wishing that his parents had come back. It was how he comforted the sick. He sighed, and took more deep breaths. It was working on him, time to see if it would work on her too.

It did indeed work on her too. She grasped his hand with hers and sighed. "I think I need to go lie down, would you care to join me?" She tugged his arm gently and guided him back to their little nest, she had lined it with the nice scented flowers that grew around here. A delicate perfume unlike any other, fragipani, they were called.
They made their way to their shared hammock in the trees on the outskirts of the glade, were it was quiet and full of lovely birdsong. They were away from the hustle and bustle but the others would know where to find them should the need be.
She really was wired too tight, but his relaxing gesture had made her need that nap quite badly. She was overexcited and overtired. It would be a better sleep that night hopefully. Or the day after that, when they finally had their baby, it could happen at any moment now. She was sure it was coming, it was almost like she could feel it but she might just be hoping and wishing too hard. Please, she asked the night air, please. She lay in his arms and listened to his steady heartbeat in her ear.

It was nearly two in the morning, he was awoken abruptly by torchlight, it was inky dark except for a few sentry lights. The sister who woke them was grinning.
"It is time to be parents, sister, earthling." She nodded at each in turn. These two were cute, even she had to admit that. Goofballs. She hoped parenting was as fun as they seemed to think it was.
Kellye was unrolled from the hammock as he was still mostly asleep, thankfully they helped him out. He woke up quickly enough once he was on his feet and moving toward the entrance to where Aisha was.
They were there, "The flower....its opening." He was still far back from the tree but he had a good view at least. He inhaled and took in the moment. This was happening, he was far away but that was his child up there coming into being.
"Go Zuella," He invited her to get closer as close as they would let her, "Bring them home to me." He kissed her and set her loose.
