Luis keeps Cartwright grounded by placing him in to a headlock on the mat.
Cartwright is stuck on the mat for a moment, as his body absorbs the strikes and snap suplex, but this grounded headlock isn't pleasant to be in either!
Looking for a way out, Cartwright aims to grab the arm around his head and use it to switch positions, as he would roll to be behind Luis with a hammerlock!

The hammerlock is applied and Cartwright looks to continue wrenching the wrist of Luis, to apply extra pressure to the hold!

Luis was slowly transitioned from the grounded headlock into the hammerlock position. The Lion would pull himself onto a knee to try to bring the fight off the ground.

Luis repositions himself up to a knee from the mat, while Cartwright keeps the hammerlock applied and twisting the wrist!

The process was slowly as Cart cranked down on the Lion's wrist, but Luis was able to plant a knee on the canvas, changing the positioning of the wrestlers. Finally, he reached back trying grav the champion toss him forward for a snapmare!

Luis manages to find Cartwright's head with his free hand and flings Cartwright overhead, forcing The Englishman to release the hammerlock, to Luis and the crowds delight!

The Mega Lion took a moment to shake out his arm a few times before diving forward attempting to grab the Englishman for a chinlock!

Cartwright looks devastated as Luis is first to apply the legendary chin lock in this match.
Cartwright flails his arms around as he struggles to breath, trying to find Luis' hair so that he can give it a pull!

Luis winced as Cart yanked at his hair. That's allowed?! "Ow ! Ow! Let go of my hair you fluffer!" The Lion would use his freehand to grab a handful of the Englishman's hair as well!

OW! Cartwright complains as the referee has to step-in and separate both men.
The referee talks to Howard Finkel as Cartwright nurses the top of his head, he wasn't planning to follow HBK's hair pattern!
Howard: "The referee has informed me that he is giving Luis Leone his first public warning for hair pulling."
The crowd loudly boos at the announcement while Cartwright points and laughs at his challenger.
Howard: "I have also been informed that Cartwright has been given his first public warning for hair pulling!"
Now the crowd laughs and points at a furious Cartwright, who begins to argue with his staff!
King: "This is crazy JR!
Luis clearly started this!"
JR: "The referee is just enforcing the rules!
Something you wouldn't see in All Elite Wrestling!"

The two competitors were broken up, apparently it was against the rules! The frustration was clearly worn on the Lion's face as his hold was broken up. Well if the Englishman wanted to cheat in his own game, then Luis would be happy to oblige. As soon as Cart was back on his feet, Luis would step in, immediately going for a kick to the gut, which he would follow up with the Full Throttle DDT!

As Cartwright argued with the referee over his public warning, Luis wants to be a sneaky lad and give The Boss a kick.
The panicked referee steps away as Cartwright turns to face Luis, the foot coming his way!
Cartwright tries to side-step the foot so that he can slap-on a sleeper hold behind Luis!

The Englishman was slippery as a fish in KY jelly as he completely avoided Luis' attack before slapping on the sleeper hold! The Lion was caught completely by surprise with the sleeper. He swung his arms desperately trying grab for something as he started losing air.

The Mega Lion was fading as as he struggled to breath. His arms fell to his sides as his body slowly went limp. After a moment he raised his arms again, this time to swing back an elbow to break the hold.
