The conversation with the carpenter went well, and Etana was feeling relieved and excited to know that something had been checked off of the ever growing to do list with the baby on the way. They had settled on a bleached driftwood for the crib, with some carvings in the corner posts that would reflect their home in Kahikina. She hoped Pello agreed but she thought that it would be wonderful to have in the home.
"Fish for dinner sounds delicious." She met Pello's smile with one of her own. "And maybe we can pick up some more of that bread if they still have it." She rubbed the small of her back and settled into a sigh. "It'll be good to be home and sit down. Today was long."

Pello wondered if maybe he should learn more about how to make the food she craved. It wasn't a long walk to the market, but having it on hand and fresh was never a bad thing. Nodding in response, he figured it wouldn't hurt to grab some extra.
"They usually sell it for less in the afternoon. Not as fresh but we can always reheat it." He added, cordially, "How about you sit down here on this bench and I'll go and get the fish and bread?"
He imagined it was a lot of work walking around with two, and would soon enough experience it as he swore to carry around their growing child. Be it in his arms, on his back, or even in a sling, he would make sure to pull his own weight once he was able. Etana deserved to rest after all the work she went through growing this child.

Etana couldn’t think of anything she wanted more right now than to sit and rest her feet for just a minute so she didn’t put up a fight when Pello offered. “If you’re sure…” She half mumbled.
Her ankles were getting to the point where they were swollen and her calves ached by the end of the day. She was enjoying the journey for motherhood but… there were things she could do without. She would be happy when she could see her feet again after this, though she would miss the anticipation and the bond she already felt with the baby.

He returned with the supplies with a little nervousness, anxious these days to be away from his partner longer than a few minutes. Maybe it was the fear she'd go into labor without him, something he was quite excited and nervous about.
Either way, he arrived back with a quick kiss on the cheek and an offer to help her stand.
"Let's head home." He said with a warm smile, still giddy at the statement. His life was a wonder and he wouldn't have it any other way.

Etana grabbed the offered hand to help lift her back up and managed to right herself with a small 'oof'.
"Home sounds so good right now. " She confirmed before looping her arm with Pello's. It was only a matter of time before their small family became one person larger and she couldn't seem to wait any longer. The anticipation was intense but soon it would all come to fruition.
