I am a grammar nazi, although it is nothing to be proud of (In my opinion). I constantly correct my friends of their grammar, and occasionally correct my very own teachers.

Yup, I'm a nazi too. My whole family is, actually. At the dinner table, we're constantly correcting eachother. We're a big group of know-it-alls. I drive my friends mad *lol* Ah well, at least they speak proper Dutch now *shrugs*

Hyotana Okay, here's a stranger story for you strangers. I am a nutty grammar nazi, this is widely acknowledged. Sometimes called compulsive verbal edit, I belong to the cursed class, closet intellectuals, the insane. Alright, the strange part: I'm dyslexic. I can't spell for salvation. I had to spell check and proof read this message twice, and I still don't have faith it's spelled correctly. And generally my spelling is so atrocious I don't spell check, people understand I do not have an IQ of 83, even if I spell like it. And yet, I am a compulsive grammar edit. Odd? Terrible? Hippo-critical? I think so. you're only a hippocrit if you purposely do the things you tell others not to (well, to me anyways).

I don't necessarily believe that we should take that type of view, even though you do have a point. But what I'm wondering is, where did the term come from? Not just for grammer, but for other things as well? Is it supposed to be a comment about a controlling person? Or is it something else entirely? I'm just wondering, while you're at it.

Player137>> plz let us out [GM]Dave>> Did you just say "plz"? [GM]Dave>> Poor grammar is frowned upon here in D block. [GM]Dave>> Meet your new cellmate.
Jormungand uses You Got a Purdy Mouth. Player137 takes 32,841 points of damage. Player137 was defeated by Jormungand.
[GM]Dave>> Are there any more questions? [GM]Dave>> I take your silence as cautious acceptance.
Is this guy a Grammar Nazi? (opinion)
I am a grammar nazi when people deliberately piss me off.

Hmmm... you teach English to more flies with honey... hee hee!
Seriously, I usually need the lesson rather than give it. I certainly TRY to be literate, but I admit my fingers and creativity tend to work much faster than that pesky left brain. However, I never take offense to tactful correction. Therefore, when I actually AM on the other side I do the same. Not a Nazi... but not one to stay mum. However intentional language killers (txttlk) fully deserve mockage. xd

rofl OK, I know you were trying to show this guy as a p***k, and maybe he is, but he is DAMN funny. I laughed harder reading his weblog than I do at most stuff online (except Dr. Tran).

It is important to keep words, and remind people to keep full words alive.
