She observed as her Niece threw her trident at a fish in the water and when she saw it stick into the riverbed she nodded her head in approval. Much better form. Also more power behind it. When she brought the fish up and it was revealed that the poor thing had been cut in half Akel couldn't help but laugh. "You got it alright."

At the mention of Enya being the better swimmer she nodded. "Considering I only swim if I have to, I'd say you got that win." Akel knew how to of course but she hadn't done it for fun since she was a teen. She didn't fault the younger girls from doing it either.

"Fighting isn't for everyone." In her younger years she would have scoffed at someone who said they didn't like fighting. It was what their Alk mothers had taught them to be good at. However, as she'd grown she'd gotten her own set of views and things were different. "I don't mind helping you. I don't like to lose either." That she could understand. "You aren't that bad you just need a few adjustments."

"That's all?" Enya crouched down in the river so that the water was up to her chest instead. Now that her trident was completely submerged in the water she started to pick off bits of flesh and scale that were stuck to the tips. "I used to swim everyday back home. Most of the time it was in rivers, but I loved diving in the reefs with the Hapuna. It's a different world under the waves." Part of her mourned the fact that she would never be able to hold her breath as long as they could, but Enya was just happy to experience it.

She'd tried swimming in the rivers here on Yael, but after sticking her head under the darker waters she got spooked by what she saw. While nothing had struck at her the shift in hues and temperature scared her away.

"Really?" When Enya smiled she felt the warmth in her heart. "It's weird, but when I fight with swords they feel like an extension of my arms. It's like they were made to be there and I'm good with them, but I didn't like who I was when I held them. I'm not as good with my trident, but it feels better in here-" She laid a hand over her chest, "-if that makes sense."

Akeldama chuckled. "Yes, that's all. There's not much swimming around here and no real tactical use for it. It's mostly for enjoyment." And since she hadn't grown up with a need for it she hadn't done it often enough to care. "The location you grew up in allowed for more swimming. Not to mention your mother likely didn't pressure you to train from morning to night." At least, she hoped not. Pyrrha didn't strike her as the type.

The older of the two glanced at her spear. She'd never considered another weapon as an extension of herself nor had she been so comfortable with another. But she could understand both sentiments in regards to her own weapon. "My spear is basically a part of me when I need it, so I understand that. I also understand that feeling. I am lucky to get both from one weapon. Choosing what makes you more comfortable is always best." Just because someone is good at something doesn't mean they enjoy it and just because someone enjoys something doesn't mean they're good at it. Having both is a true blessing. "You can always learn to be better at something you enjoy but you can't always find joy in something you have a natural talent for." Akel wasn't going to judge Enya for it. It wasn't something she could personally relate to so she felt she didn't have expertise on the matter.

"Not both of them." Enya walked a bit in the river until she found a half submerged rock and sat atop it. It was slick with river grime that would no doubt leave it's mark on her clothing, but the young Elidae didn't seem to care. "I worked a lot with Mama Kanika and my grandmothers. It was a lot, but not like what I've seen here." There were some girls she'd seen with arms three times as thick as her own and legs strong enough to crack stone.

"So long as I can go home with a few stories of won battles under my belt that should be good." She gave her stomach a few mock slaps and sat up a little straighter; obviously posturing, especially with her 'deepened' voice. Enya couldn't keep it up for long, though, and her face split into a smile. "Do you think we have enough fish or should I keep going?"

Having some training was good but knowing that it was not on the same level as what the Elaria did was concerning. Not bad per se but it made Akel wonder the extend of her niece's skills. The deeper voice and patting of the girl's stomach only made her snort. "Right. I can't promise you that. Maybe one win." And here she grinned in a smug way to suggest she was being sarcastic.

At the question of more fish she looked at what was on the ground in front of her. "I think that is plenty. Did you want to clean them here or take them back to do it? Akeldama was going to make the girl do all the work. "Pruu might not like scales all over the house." She leaned casually on her spear.

"Get out of the water before you turn into a fish and lets get going." She beckoned with one hand before pointing at the fresh catch on the ground.
