Ushi 4

His sister always knew what to say, and she and his wife were the two most influential people in his life. He was ever grateful. He nodded. Unable to hide all of his emotion, there was just too much. They were getting closer.

He smirked mildly at Variel's advances, girl knew what she wanted. It was cute to see her that happy.

"Thank you for your help Viltre. We remain ever grateful." And that was about as many words as he could get out at the moment, no doubt the others would understand.

Variel 5

She honestly just enjoyed herself for a change, with their combined firepower and Vilre's shifty antics, not many would be able to storm their humble (okay less than humble), group of four.

She enjoyed talking with Ein, she enjoyed being this close to Viltre, and she enjoyed that Ushi had finally gotten some news which had been so important to him.

Some good had come of today at least. They relaxed and enjoyed food and drink by the fire and chatted amiably about general things.

Finally this family might have some closure soon.

Viltre 5

For whatever cause, Einsol's twin seemed to think there were debts outstanding. Surprise, he decided. Surprise and amusement. A blink, two, and a quiet snort, 'unsuccessfully hidden'. "Ever gr- ...brother mine, all previous favors were repaid. You kept my little sister and her boys safe." By his reckoning, this was a new weight on a balanced scales. Thalassa's clan had held up their end of a mutually beneficial set of favors. One which avoided a whole pile of dead bodies at the time. ...It might cause a new pile now, but no one Viltre's kith or kin would particularly miss.

As they pulled up to the flame, the slender man reached back and brushed Variel's knuckles, squeezing the hand for an instant. Unless stopped, he'd sling out of the saddle here and find a spot to sit. Before long, the four relaxed around the place, arranged somewhat close to keep off any chill coming duskways. The haunch, as promised, was spitted and roasting in short order, leaving the janarim to clean the rest of the carcass. And while the Taleian thief could chatter with the best, there were still things that needed discussion.

"So how will this go? Off to Sulburi in the morning? Camping here? Or are we heading back to the ranch first? Is it to be the four of us?"

Einsol 5

While they settled down, and the pair of war-beasts bedded likewise, the healer got out a few small jars of herbs for the meat. They'd already spitted the leg, and hauling it over the fire didn't take much more time than rubbing the herbs over it first. With any luck, the flavours wpuld seep in as it roasted. Once that was done, the sturdy hybrid went and unslung a pair of wineskins from their saddle. Good strong stuff, if not quite a meal on its own. She'd hand one to Variel and settle in within arms reach. Alcohol helped to get the words flowing, and it could only be appropriate to celebrate the start of a hunt so long awaited.

Sunny and open, Einsol chattered and laughed as they went, flirting the whole way down. Even when their guest segued into business, the seriousness didn't last long. "Gonna need to get word home tomorrow. About a day's ride out from our territory, so we're campin' tonight. Ain't victualed or supplied for a trip out of country; was just scouting you two. Can't think of anyone more appropriate to hunt with if we ain't bringin' our whole pack, tho'. Either way we're in good company."

Variel was running with it; Viltre not so much. Einsol had made certain decisions already, but for all her forwardness, she respected boundaries. Playing with one part of a couple and not the other made for hurt feelings somewhere. Better to state her interests more plainly. The worst they'd say was no. "Variel. You're pretty, you've got a sweet ol' janarim, an' you clearly know how to pick your jobs. Viltre. I like what you've done for my kin, your evading's adorable, an' you're pretty yourself. How'd it be if I snuck into your tent tonight?" She took a pull from the skin of wine, passing it along. "...If I'm goin' too far, just say, an' I'll back off. I'm findin' I like ya both so far as I know ya. Like to know you both better."

Ushiwa 5

He noticed the quick reassurance the leaf male gave Variel before getting off, he approved. Maybe there would be peace for the other secondboy. Ushi knew it could be a difficult position, though if Thal were not Thal it would be a lot worse. He lived to compete with his brother, his brother lived to hunt with Viltre's sister and train critters on a beach somewhere with fresh fruit. He was so peaceful, could be a fair opponant if Ushi could annoy him into it. But well, he loved his brother.

He was inclined to love Viltre at the moment for what he was doing for them. Variel had a few new scars, the going hadn't been easy, but the leafling was in one peace, she was doing a good job keeping her new mate alive. He stared at them then turned away. He wasn't a talker, unless he had to.

He smirked at Einsol's words. Fascinating! She finally found someone or more than one someone. Leave it to his sister. He wished her luck.

Variel 6

Her heart leapt at his touch, there was a sweet man in there somewhere, one who didn't deserve half of the grief he had put up with, and he continued to let her in, to let her see his face occassionaly without the mask, revealing pain, but hope too. What he was inside was beautiful, and the outside sure didn't hurt either.

She wrapped her arm around his side where they had gotten off the janarim palm to his chest for a moment, in a hug, listened to Einsol's words, "No matter what you chose, it changes how much I feel for you not at all." She whispered in his ear. Hoping she conveyed her trust in him and her heartily growing feelings for him. He meant more to her than a trist in a tent, she would remain in his tent. She had never been particularly hoardy and she had known Einsol for a long time, the girl was beautiful and sweet as pie, so long as you were on the right side of the family blood fued.

She released Viltre reluctantly. She was very much in that moon calf phase of fuzziness, where he could do no wrong and she saw life through rose tinted spectacles.

"It is chilly at night, would hate for you to er, get cold Einsol." She winked.

Viltre 6

Business went and smoothed, as it so often did. They had an outline, something to steer towards. That and a sense of satisfaction led him to take a pull of the profferred wine. He still couldn't share his partner's enthusiasm for strong drink, but there was a difference between personal taste and rudeness. And the merchant's son had exquisite manners. Ushiwa kept metaphorically to the side during supper. His Taleian brother let the hunter be, preferring not to push so early on in their association. There would be time enough to become friends later.

When the dark hybrid propositioned both Variel and the thief at once, the signals of his brain screeched to a halt for an instant. It was a testament to the sheer polish of his mask that he didn't spray his mouthful of wine into the fire. Really shouldn't have shocked him, if he thought back. Auntie Nao's girls had done so to either and both of the pair. But that was business. Easier to maintain a distance when you knew there was little personal feeling behind it. A necessary evil in his circles.

Einsol, on the other hand, knew nothing at all about that sort of thing, and opened herself up immediately. Like she had nothing to fear from others. Like she had nothing to hide. It was at once frightening and reassuring, and Viltre wasn't sure what to do with that. The Oban speaking at his ear helped, yes, as did the strong arm about him. She'd been a separate case from the start... And she clearly enjoyed the attention. His malfunctions could wait. "I. I can't guarantee anything will happen. Told her, still puzzling myself out. I'm willing to give it a try, at least."

Einsol 6

You had to take care when approaching groups of anyhing. Cornered creatures were likely to do anything, and that held true with more than one. Always best to leave them an out. The healer paused at the answer, then gentled her smile. The tall Leaf man was a little older than she or Variel, but for all that he seemed no more experienced than either woman. Not here, at any rate. "Late bloomer, huh? That's okay. Can keep it in mind. If this ain't to one of our tastes, there's the end of it an' no harm done."

The smile Einsol flashed the warrior was of more direct cast. Her, she didn't need to worry about scaring away. "I get the feelin' I'll be nice an' cozy tonight; thank ya Variel." There were rules, prowling for a mate (or two). Kindness was an effective strategy for sapient folk. That it ran alongside the sturdy healer's preferences was a bonus. But then, most social niceties followed the way nature held them, if you scratched some of the paint off.

As Ushi hadn't done much else, his dark twin could only conclude he approved of her tastes in prospective mates. If she regretted anything, it would've been making her move before he could be back to his own Sae. True, he'd seen her earlier today, but her best brother was a lot more sentimental than he let on. Wonder if he forgot, or tangled it up in his thoughts somewhere n' doesn't know?

Ushiwa 6

He was well aware he had seen Sae earlier that morning but that did not help him as his bedroll was empty now. AND she had the kids, and he was not there, he should bring them all, they would camp..away from this one. He smirked a little, wether something happened or not they had been very kind to Ein. Course that meant they had excellent taste too. She was the bestest earthling.

Oh well in absence of family he would drink to their health. There was a lot of family therefore toasts required a lot of drinking. Sometimes he and Ein would brawl in the middle of it for entertainment.

He did enjoy himself though. He was full with a fresh scent on his quarry and a happy sister. What more could he want..besides Sae.

Variel 7

She smiled, poor Viltre, hard to handle one lady nevermind two. And the ones that seemed to be attracted to him had a lot in common.

A) They were sweet, mostly
B) They were powerful in one way or another
C) Extremely Deadly
D) Well Built
E) Gorgeous

The man had won life, she was sure. She was delighted to see that little flash of warmth once in a while directed at her, maskless.

She needed to take him to a masquerade one day. Now that would be romantic. Perhaps behind a real mask he could be himself. At least for her. That was something special held between them like a jewel. She had no doubt she had chosen her mate well. Let her sister have the prince she would take the Thief of Hearts. She all but purred.

Einsol had no filter therefore left nothing unread with them, it was refreshing it was clean and it was a sort of relief after all of the acting that they did in high stakes situations. Though she did enjoy that game heartily enough. She also enjoyed relaxing and letting loose.

She threaded her fingers into Viltre's. She was happy.

Viltre 7

Well. She was willing to be gentle, at least. His father's terrible examples of fidelity and Merle's consistent distain for the man's habits had managed to taint the idea of non-monogamous relationships. Spite probably wasn't the best motivation for trying, but if Merle disapproves, he thought, there might be something to it. Challenging his programming took risks. More importantly, he couldn't say he was taking advantage of these ladies. His stepmother aside, the family patriarch was shameless in many senses. Viltre might be able to outrun either, but both could fold him up into a knot, physically. Good secondary incentive towards honesty.

This hadn't been what he expected from today. The ideal outcome had been simple: meet his sister's in-laws, his nephews, and get bouncing to Oba. There had been a lot of fuss over those boys, and a part of him needed to see that it had all been worth it. And that all would still happen. Was in the process of happening. Just. A bit more closely than he'd imagined. Ushiwa, spirits bless him, was being courteous and getting as much alcohol in his system as possible. Young Kavensei might have joined him if he hadn't already hit a buzz from two pulls.

For now, he squeezed the hand in his and raised the wineskin a final time. What do they make this stuff from, I wonder? Is wine supposed to burn this much going down? "If all's settled, then, I look forward to traveling with you." He looked to Einsol, still unconciously waiting for the shoe to drop. "Both of you."

Einsol 7

Gentle or not, her smile grew a little as she watched her prospective bedmates. Individually, they were pretty enough, and pleasant company. Together they were just adorable! Variel had the same sort of half-concussed expression that Thal wore under Terrwyn's gaze. And Viltre tickled her predatory instincts; he looked fun to chase. A pity she hadn't brought Ray, or she'd have introduced them. But alas, it wasn't an appropriate thing to bring her keldari along this time. Not to a potential trap. He'd been left in Tethys' careful hands. Her little brother had a way with danger noodles, and would keep her slithery sunbeam well.

After the man had a final pull, the skin was passed on, strong wine flowing as it needed to. They would set up the tents in a bit. The stars were bright, the rain was a ways off, bellies were full and heads full of wine. "Yup. Think it's gonna be well from tonight on."

Ushi 7

Ushi tilted his head at his sister. "I am glad we brought the wine. I will not be awake much longer sister but when I wake later, I will keep watch over the wee hours."

"For the moment though..." He got up and curled up with his janarim. "It's wamer and comfier here, so long as he doesnt roll."

Kechi had picked him out. A good boy. And scary looking, his daughter had good taste. He patted the thick armored neck and got a sweet snuffle for his trouble. He started telling it a rather long story about him and Sae and some cliffs and soon enough both he and the janarim were asleep.

He knew he wasn't going to last long, what was in that wine? He'd have to ask his sister later if he remembered, fifty fifty at this point.
