He harrumphed.
There was still one essential blockade. Leaving would require leaving everything he knew. It'd require giving in to what happened to him and losing everything he still cared about. It'd require abandoning Orah. It'd require abandoning Dad, and everything they had built, and everything he had done to hold them together as a unit, even after Orah's disappearance and reappearance.
Fulgurite wrung his hands. This conversation was hitting a nerve, and it was a deeply uncomfortable one. He couldn't. He couldn't--

He glanced behind him.
"I have people I need to stay for."
Fulgurite sucked in a breath and realized the easier solution to a conversation that was intensifying an empty pit in his stomach was to simply... disappear.
