“I’ll keep no secrets from you,” Devyn promised, and while he was certain there would be times in their relationship that they could keep secrets for nice surprises, he didn’t think they had to start so soon. If Michael was going to wear a ring he made him, he should have some input. Probably starting early on, because Devyn knew he liked things quite a bit more decorated than Michael, and the last thing he wanted to do was make him a ring he felt silly wearing.
“We’ll find a class and we can all go together. As a family.”
Or Elliot could come too, he supposed Atticus might like to have his friend there, and it was only fair to keep things even. And Elliot was family too, wasn’t he?
“I’ll see if I can find something tomorrow while you’re at work. And I’ll have to plan more dates for us. I want to do everything with you. Probably more than once. Thank you for giving me a chance. And for being honest with me.”

“I think I’m doing pretty good with being honest, comparatively,” Michael huffed, but it was clear he was only joking.
Although he had found being honest was a lot easier with Devyn. Maybe because Devyn treated him with not just respect but a quiet understanding. It had always been easy to talk to Devyn, and every time he was reminded how wonderful Devyn was, Michael felt silly for any doubts he might have had.
“Thank you for giving me a chance too. I promise I’ll keep no secrets from you, and I’ll remember that I’m worthy of your love,” he said as he leaned close so he could press a kiss to Devyn’s lips. He let it linger longer than the two previous ones, but all things considered, they were still pretty tame for a newly engaged couple.
“I love you,” he hummed, leaning close to press his forehead against Devyn’s once the kiss was broken.

Devyn laughed again, but with a softness that made it impossible to misunderstand his intentions were simply to express delight.
“I’ll never get tired of hearing you say that. And I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of saying it, myself.”
And he’d never get tired of the kisses, or the smiles, or the laughter, or any of it. He scooted a little closer. “I don’t think I could have ever imagined meeting someone as wonderful as you. You make me feel young again, and alive. And I could say any number of tacky things right now to express all of that, and I’m sure I will, in time, but I’ll spare you for now. I’m very proud of you for being so honest with me. I’ll aspire to do the same.”
He drew back a bit and smoothed some of Michael’s hair out of his face so he could just look at him. His face wasn’t new to Devyn, but every time he looked at it he found something else to love about it, and now he supposed he had a right to admire Michael so freely.
“I love you, too, Michael. Are we telling your mother we’re dating or engaged?”

Michael drew in a sharp breath, but let it out in a puff of somewhat dramatic defeat. But he was in a good mood, and anything other than smiles was just theatrics.
“She’ll start planning a wedding as soon as we tell her,” he warned, but he didn’t seem too upset about the idea. His mother had gone through enough grief of her own in the past year that he thought she deserved something nice to look forward to.
“Well… since we have no plans for the day, maybe we can see if mom is available for brunch or something. Ah, unless you’re too full,” he hummed, but he was just teasing. He knew Devyn could eat just about anything that was in front of him.
“I’m happy you feel alive and young. You deserve a lifetime of good things. And no matter what, I’ll do my best to make that happen.”
