Well, I got the epidural, but my labor progressed so fast it didn't kick in till after. The worst part for me was being unable to sleep especially after being up for a day and the puking. It also totally sucked that I didn't get to hold Logan right after he was born due to all the minor complications, etc.
The best part was when it was all totally over and just a memory!

thesillyone100 KristiElizabeth thesillyone100 I didnt get drugs and stuff, I just went through the pain. By the time I had gotten to the hospital it was too late for them to give me any drugs. too close to delivery? I was induced, she was overdue Yes, it was too close to delivery. I was home alone when I went into labor, but I didnt exactly realize it until things started really hurting and my water broke. Then I was at the time only 14 and couldnt drive, so I had to call my mom who was at work to come and get me, and by that time it was almost time for delivery. I didnt exactly know I was coming into labor because I wasnt due for a month. oh ok my water dident get to break naturally they wanted to put a montor on her head so they had to break my water for me

I honestly didn't feel any pain, Its just when theres a mans whole hand in my puss.......Makes me feel Odd. Yeah, that made me feel a little uncomfortable, but I sure did feel pain. I had a mid-wife....... I never had a guy in the room (besides my boyfriend)

Three words Ring of Fire... passing the widest part of the baby's head. But that was over so quickly. I had natural labour with one and two, no drugs. Having the doctor's hand get stuck during a contraction with #2 was akward as well. She was checking to see if I was dilated and the baby's head trapped her hand in the birth canal until the contraction was over!
#3 was a c-section and I was out cold (they were doing some other surgery while they were in there.) and it was a high risk pregnancy so not knowing if my baby was o.k. when I woke up was hard. I was asked her name when I woke and I was so doped up from the anesthetic I thought they needed the name for the death certificate and burst into tears and could do nothing but repeate her name over and over till they told me she was fine and in my husband's arms. I was still pretty freaked until I got to hold her.
The catheter sucked with the c-section too. But all was well after. Kids are now 14 yob, 13yob, and 5 yog

I was on the pitocin from moment one of my pregnancy since my bloodpressure spiked.
So I'd say being confined to the bed was the worst especially since my labor took 36 hours.
I did get to sleep but the stadol was pretty henious. It made me crazy, I guess I was fighting the sleep (The nurse said "This will make you a little sleepy so don't fight it" Well 1. That was the understatement of the year, and 2. I shouldn't have) So I was all yammering that William needed to watch me because I wasn't breathing. And that I couldn't breath.
Also the oxygen mask, they put it on me, but I wasn't really having problems and the baby wasn't really having problems it's just I had to wait so long to get an epidural (2 hours from the time I asked) that I was holding my breath through contractions. I kept taking it off and putting it on my forehead. I don't remember when they took it off but I guess they figured I wasn't going to wear it.

I had patocin most of my labor as well. Thy only took about 20 minutes to get the guy in to do the epidural, the epidural itsself hurt like hell when they were putting it in. Previously friends had told me that compared to the pain of the contractions they could barly feel the epidural, not with me, putting the epidural in hurt more than the contractions. But once it was in i was fine.

Hmm, well, it didn't hurt too bad. They numb it with lidicane before they stick the catheter in. However, I had watched all those silly birth stories shows and whatnot and the women were so calm.
So, I finally asked for it and the anestheiologist kept telling me to relax my shoulders. Well, it's kinda hard to get into the necessary position and relax when she was doing it right during the contraction. I couldn't help but jump a little bit when it did happen, which she wasn't happy about it, but I couldn't help it. It wasn't any worse than normal shots. I think not seeing it totally helps.

I also went natural (my choice). I too had the aweful expierence of having a nurse keep trying to push drugs on me. I was 10 days late so my doctor set up an induction date, we (my hubby and me) got to the hospital and they inserted some sort of ripening agent; I was still just a 1+ at ten days late, then they expected to start me on pit in the morning--fortunatly I started labor about an hour after the second "pill" was inserted. Labor wasn't as bad as everyone kept telling me it would be. I think that the worst thing for me was that morning when I felt the need to push, because the last time that the nurse had checked me she told me I was still just a 1+ and that she thought that the baby had turned. So when I got that urge to push I was so worried that I was giong to mess something up (thinking that I wasn't dialated and that the baby was turned). Because they thought that the baby was turned I guess they'd called my doctor (female--I wasn't comfortable with the whole male OB/GYN either)because as soon as I sent my husband out for the nurse my doctor came in, checked me, told me I was a 10 and the baby was in the right position, I was flooded with relief and the baby was out in like half an hour. Again I was worried when they took my baby after briefly laying on on me to have daddy cut the cord. When they finally broght her back they said that she had swallowed some maconium(sp?) and that they had cleaned it out. I think for me the best part of all if it was the first time that I was able to nurse. I think partly because that was the first time I was really able to see my baby, and hold her. Partly though I just really enjoyed the breast feeding experience.

Well my first birth was a emergency c-section. I had my daughter about 8 days before my scheduled c-section. I was actually getting ready to go to the neighbors house to roast marshmellows. I got dressed and ready to go. The weather was nice and there was a rainbow visible at night. eek So I finished going to the bathroom and getting ready and I bent down to get my shoes on and well my water broke. I called the doctor and such and headed to the hospital,I got all ready for the c-section. I needed a c-section because my daughter was breeched. The worst part of the c-section was when they were tugging at something and I got sick all over the place. The best part well...was after I was not drugged up on morphine and I got to see my daughter correctly for the first time.

i had an epidural (sp?) and i had no problem through all of labor...slept through contractions and they woke me up at 8am to tell me that in 15 minutes or so i'd have to start pushing, and at 815 i started pushing, he was out at 832 and that was the greatest relief ever, my tummy felt so much better. so that was awesome and then every moment with him since has been the best. but i'd have to agree with when he was set in my arms, opened those eyes and smiled at me (no lie! <3)
i don't know why anyone would put themselves through the pain of a natural birth! gonk i remember every moment of labor no grogginess.

I don't remember the epidural hurting at all. I know it probably did, but I don't even remember it having a sting. You know what with the contractions and all.
Also I HATED that they made me scooch up onto the top of the stupid a** maternity bed. It's the most rickity thing because you can't put weight on the bottom third because it's a break away for when they pop up the stirips, and I had two IVs and that belly strap fetal heartbeat monitor and the catheter and all the other s**t and they wanted my to climb MID CONTRACTION to the top third of the bed and lean forward to get the epidural. But I don't remember it hurting more than any other shot. I don't have a fear of needles or anything so it was just a regular shot to me.
The best thing about labor for me, was actually AFTERWARDS about four hours later at six o' clock in the morning when I finally got to see my daughter. I mean they gave her to me in the delivery room, but She had to go to get checked out because it was unsure whether my water was clear so I mean I didn't even KNOW what she looked like, I remembered holding her for like SECONDS.
