Ergon gripped the saddle tightly from the moment he had climbed on, back stiff and breath forced to come slowly. Give him an irritated customer, he could have been furious and maintained a calm exterior. This was much harder to hide his concern. Yngvara climbed on and he glanced over to his sister and his son. He couldn't see too clearly from there. Was the boy strapped in completely?
He stiffened further when Yuli started to move, and managed to bite back a startled hitch from his breath. Okay, if she could do this, then so could he..
The moment they left the ground, he leaned to press against Yngvara's back and his knuckles paled from how hard he clutched the saddle. As proud as he was of himself for not screaming, he would have appreciated at least a small breath of air! His stomach sank further as they climbed. The ground was definitely not supposed to be so far from his feet!

Sylvirah 5
Even though she'd done this dozens of times with her own children, Sylvirah didn't let her guard down for a moment. The chiavi that lifted them into the skies could very well decide she'd had enough despite yeas of partnership or Eirex himself could wriggle his way out of the restraints. She didn't expect either to happen, but she also didn't want to lose the boy on her watch.
That being said, once they leveled off she did look over toward Yuli and his charges. Ergon's face was priceless and she couldn't help the bark of laughter that slipped out. Shaking her head, Sylvirah smoothed one hand across her nephew's shoulder and held on the reigns with her other hand. "Look, Eirex, isn't it beautiful up here?"

Yngvara 5
Unlike Ada's gradual climb the much younger chiavi sprang forth from the treeline like a demon from the ether. When he decided to level out there was a lurching sensation that momentarily lifted Yngvara from her seat before dropping her into place. Yuli had managed the 'stunt' more times than she could count so she had the forthough to reach back and grab Ergon's thigh, hoping he wouldn't panic as much. The young huntswoman clucked her tongue, mentally chastising the showoff before chancing a look back at him.
Ah he...didn't look well. Was he paler than usual? She couldn't tell; Ergon was always pale. "Opp med haken." She smiled a little, gave him a pat and turned around. "Chin up. You did great." Now that the chiavi were in full flight she was able to move a little closer to the others and give her cousin a little wave.

The initial lift-off got a shriek of surprise and fear... but that was quickly followed with a whoop of delight. He'd never experienced anything like this before! Eirex held tight with one hand, but the other raised and stuck out as though he was helping them to ascend. A broad grin was stuck on his face and he looked back at his aunt with pure joy. "It's great," he chirped.
Once they leveled out, he released his other hand to stick out both arms and briefly closed his eyes. His heart leapt into his throat and he quickly brought one hand back to the saddle.. but it was amazing!
He looked over when he noticed the other pair getting close. He waved back and giggled, looking between his cousin and his father. He let out another whoop of delight to make it as clear as possible to his father how much fun he was having.

He had no doubt that his insides had remained back on the ground! Except for his stomach, which continued to clench and lurch until they leveled out. Finally, Ergon could suck in a desperate gasp of air and prove his lungs were still in place. His heart had to be in place as well, or at least somewhere in his body, considering how his pulse pounded in his ears.
He could barely hear his niece, and could only nod in reply. They were regularly out on these things?! Gods, who thought this was enjoyable?!
Then he looked over to make sure Sylvirah still had Eirex in place.. and his tightly set mouth loosened just enough for a small smile of appreciation and pride. Eirex looked like he was having the time of his life.

Sylvirah 6
This was everything. Getting to experience her world with a new generation, with people she loved and cared for, was all Sylvirah could have asked for. There was a time in her life when she thought any hope of family was lost to her, but now it was growing. When Eirex gave out an excited cry so did she and quickly followed it with a laugh.
"Okay, give me your hands." Now that Ada was in a rhythm Sylvirah felt safe taking her nephew's little hands and slipping the reighns into them. "Loop them twice around your hands, but don't get it too tight or she'll pull up. If you want her to go left just tug leg and if you want her to go right then tug right."
And once she had him set up Sylvirah sat back, leaving it completely to Eirex. "Now...take us wherever you want to go!"

Yngvara 6
"Do you see that valley?" Yngvara tried to yell back at Ergon while pointing to a larger, empty patch of land. "Got my first mammu there. If you come down at the right angle you can snap off the restraints and drop right on their backs. They never know." The first few times had been utterly terrifying and she'd broken a few bones, but the look of pride on her mother's face when she'd brought down the first beast was a high she'd never come down from.
When she looked back to Eirex and saw Sylvirah setting him up she gave a little laugh. "You'll have to get him one now."

Eirex's attention instantly went to his hands, looking on with awe as the straps were handed over. His eyes were wide with excitement, but he listened attentively, following his aunts directions exactly. His heart was in his throat when he gave the reins a tug to the right, and Ada responded. Oh, he was about to wiggle right out of his skin!!
He looked back at his aunt one more time for confirmation. He was really getting to direct this amazing thing! He looked over at his father and cousin as well. "Let's go!" he cheered. He gave the reins a firm pull to the right so that he wouldn't risk running into the other pair. He wasn't certain where they would go, but he would find cool spot surely from all the way up here!

Relieved that Eriex was well enough, Ergon attempted to turn his focus to his own experience. Now that Yuli was flying smoother, he could suck in a deeper breath. There was absolutely no looking down at the ground though.
"You jump off this thing while it's flying?" he gasped out, chills going down his back at the thought. This really was a wild family! Just this side of insane; maybe.
He looked over again when Yngvara did, but Ada was swooping away by then. Had he..? No. No way was that Eirex holding the reins. "He'll just have to be content visiting your beasts," he huffed.

Yngvara 7
"Sometimes." With Eirex at the helm Yngvara kept a sharper eye on Ada, just incase he decided to take a sharper turn than Yuli was comfortable with. "It was an addition made to the saddles for emergencies. If your chiavi is attacked are you going down with them? You'll jump. We just use it for other things." Back in the day it was necessary; now Yngvara just did it for a rush.
Now that Ada was picking up a little bit of speed, Yngvara tugged Yuli in their direction and followed suit.
"That's fine. I'll just let him borrow Yuli whenever he wants." She smirked.

Sylvirah 7
"There's a lake this way with a secret cave! Want to land there?" It would still take a while to get there with the chiavi, but by then the avians would be ready for a break. There was also enough open ground that a shaky landing wouldn't endanger anyone.
"How about it, Eirex? Think you'll be a flyer one day?"

What a rush! Eirex felt so... gods, what was even the word for this? It was completely new to the lad. The grin was starting to make his cheeks ache, but he couldn't stop smiling. When he was directed to a secret cave, he instantly followed where he was being guided. Who wouldn't want to see a secret cave?
Would he be a flyer some day? He thought a moment before laughing. "I'm flying now!" he chirped happily. He wasn't sure when he would be able to fly again, or if it would become a regular practice. His father might just lock him in his room. At that moment though, he could see it clear as the sun... One day, his own chiavi soaring through the sky with him at the reins...

Ergon's stomach dropped once more. Just as he'd feared. If something went wrong, what other option was there? Another prayer was sent to the gods for a safe journey. If anything did attack.. surely they could just outrun- er- outfly it? That was what he was counting on anyway.
Part of him screamed at the idea of Eirex flying again.. but he managed to bite his tongue. He could still remember that utter joy on the boy's face a moment ago... "Only if you or your mother are with him. One the same beast," he said firmly. Their angle shifted and he lost his breath again when more of the ground came into view on the side they were turning to. He couldn't wait to get back down!
