"Do what you want," despite every fiber in his being wanting to shove Fysarius away from him, Cypher instead his eyes fixated on the path ahead. he refused to spare his comrade a glance or engage in conversation; mostly because with the current state of his jaw, it was impossible to talk without increased pain.

With each step, a wall formed around him; each layer carefully placed so that he did not let his guard down and leave himself vulnerable again. Mistakes were made, many on his own part. Cypher did not read the situation correctly and now paid the price for it; a damaged bond that was perhaps too fragile to consider it as such if it was so easily broken.

His face was another matter entirely. Ness had used her Source Stone to heal him once, it was a month or so ago but it had healed the gashes across his chest near completely; there were still faint scars but he was not of the mind to complain. Her aid had been appreciated. Unfortunately, he knew that is he went to her now, she would ask questions and would want to know how he got so injured. Granted one look at Fysarius’ hands would give her the answers she sought, Cy wasn’t of the mind to explain if only to avoid either of them being reprimanded for fighting.

No, he’d figure out how to use the Source Stone to heal himself.

Twice more, when he could no longer stand the lingering metallic taste, Cypher turned his head away from Fys and spit a mouthful of blood into a bush or some shrub where it wouldn’t be seen. There were no words of appreciation when they got back to the house, or when he removed his arm from his comrades shoulder. Not a word was said was sad as he walked down the hallway toward the room he had been staying, not a glance spared when he unlocked the door and stepped inside.

Never again… he thought as he looked at himself in the mirror.
