 Cody Carter Cody watched the scenes play out and his fist gripped as he felt like his blood boiled a bit seeing the witch do such things to the little girl. However their was something that seemed odd about being able to see this illusion, he felt as if he had seen this witch before, or her tails at least, but when the vision vanished, he watched as Lady Death picked up the little girl as if she were her own daughter. As Lady death spoke, he felt like the mission wasnt complete, so he stepped forward, "Lady Death, if I may suggest something. Youre a very busy individual, keeping the world, the city and people safe from kishin eggs. To add the burden of searching for a suitable home for little Sonata seems to be, something that shouldnt be added to the pile of duties you already handle. That being said, im not here to suggest that we watch her, because we are meister and weapons, she requires a place to feel loved, but we have missions now and then outside of classes. My proposition, I feel Sonata deserves a proper motherly figure, and I believe you know of the Knight Time Tavern here in Death City. Its a tavern my mother set up to distract herself and honor her husband." He explained as the Knight Time Tavern was a tavern that did lunch and dinners, had a small bar and was a one night stop for travelers just getting into Death City. Usually most people use the rooms, renting them out when they drank to much and need a place to pass out but either way. His mother, besides himself, were the only survivors of his clan, having been from a clan of knights that passed down the Soul Armor ability. A monster attacked, and killed all the other members of his family still alive, including Cody's father. When they moved to Death City, Cody enrolled to become a Meister and what originally was a normal tavern, his mother became friends with the owner before they retired, so she themed up the place as a castle like tavern motif. He looked to Lady Death, "Sonata could use a motherly figure and my mother, Vanessa Carter would be more then happy to watch after Sonata as if she were her own daughter." He wagered as his mother cared for children and those who visited her tavern. He figured that Sonata could see his mother as hers if she felt welcomed, and this would also allow his mother to feel less like her only family was in danger of facing the monster that killed her husband.

 Sonata Dusk
Sonata buries her face as Lady Death held onto her. She falls asleep feeling safe in Lady Death's arms, unable to stay awake any longer. Sonata could just feel Lady's death's soul wavelength as she was held. It was a warm, and more importantly safe, feeling to Sonata. She instantly fell asleep hugging her tail as it came up around Lady Death's arm and into Sonata's arms. Sonata was both physically and mentally exhausted, so this was a much needed rest. Anyone could tell she felt safe as she lay in Lady Death's arms, hugging her tail. It was a comforting skill that she'd developed and used whenever she felt safe or scared when she slept.

Ann Marie and Rose Mary Blight
 Lady Death looked down at the fox child as she curled up safely in her arms and feel fast asleep. She didn't think much about the repercussions that came with the child until Cody mentioned her work load. It was true the woman never slept since managing the academy and Death City was a full time job. She didn't even know where to start looking for a home to house Sonata, especially given her unique circumstances. However, Cody thought of a solution quickly and Ann Marie was in full agreement. "That's prefect, Cody! You're mother is such a wonderful woman and cooks the best meals!" The sister's had been to the Knight Time Tavern with Cody a handful of times, and Cody's mother always welcomed them with open arms. Cody's mother was strong, compassionate, and wise since she and Cody had been through a past tragedy. The meister took them how his family was mascaraed by a monster leaving him and his mother as the only survivors. They moved to Death City to get a new start as Cody applied for the academy and his mother opened up the tavern.
The sister's backstories are equally as tragic considering they're both orphans now. Their father was very abusive and sought power, eventually turning himself into a Kishin. Their mother was a weapon and slayed him without a meister, but they didn't live happily ever after after the incident. Their mother fell into depression and committed suicided a few months later. The girls had been living in a the streets of Death City for some time before Lady Death found them and enrolled them into the academy. They have been living on the school grounds for three years now, and have become accustomed to their lives. Ann Marie, despite all their turmoil, always had a smile on her face acting like nothing was wrong. Rose Mary on the other hand, remained gloomy and still had a hard time trusting anyone. In fact, she was far from excited to see Cody's mother because it made her secretly resent Cody and his mother. She could never experience that relationship because child and parent, but she never voiced her feelings so it stayed bottled up. She just wanted to get this over with quickly so she nodded quietly in response. Lady Death handled Sonata to Cody and nodding firmly, "I'll leave her to you then. Tell your mother she has my thanks. I will provide finical support and protection should she need it." With that, Lady Death returned to her duties of watching over the academy and Death City through her mirror. Rose Mary and Ann Marie followed Cody ready to go to the Knight Time Tavern.

Cody Carter Cody could see Lady Death weighing her options but found that she agreed that it was the best course of action. He gently nodded after carefully accepting the sleeping fox child, craddling Sonata the best he could to allow her to rest against him. Cody knew that Ann Marie loved his mother but he could sense Rose Mary's resentment when in the presence of his mother. Her soul practically turned green with resentment but that wasnt for him to scold her over. He did still have his mother, they did not so him scolding her didnt feel right. Either way, he thanked Lady Death for her support and informed her they would have their kishin report due to later after Sonata was cared for. Leaving, he would take a back exit from the school to keep people from bothering them and disturbing Sonata. They traveled to the Knight Time Tavern, but as they walked inside, it was adorned with sturdy wooden tables. The floor and pillars a different but warm colored wood. Lanterns adorned the pillars, giving it an old timey feel but the seats were cushioned and comfort still was present as a women turned to their presence, "Welcome to the... oh, Welcome back son, Ann and Rose, I hope you all have." the brown haired woman stopped when she noticed the fox child in her son's arms but he explained and she smiled, "Thats my boy, little Sonata here is more then welcome to stay." she stated happily, walking over and gently picking up the young girl, craddling her as a mother would, "Poor little thing, dont worry Sonata, after your rest, ill have a nice warm meal for ya." she said in a motherly tone, gently walking to the side door by the bar that went to her home attached to the tavern where she would go take Sonata to the spare bedroom to sleep. Cody turned to Ann Marie and Rose Mary, "Alright you two, Id say its time we head back to the school and take care of our report before heading back to our apartment to get some rest." He said knowing that Rose Mary didnt want to be around the tavern all that long. Before they left, he got them take out from the chef that made their favorite meals to take to the apartment whenever they stopped by. Vanessa Carter

Sonata Dusk
Sonata woke up about 20 minutes after Cody, Ann Marie and Rose Mary left for their apartment. She got a little nervous as she looked around the room she was in. She quickly got up, and started to look around nervously, not sure if she was allowed to do so. She then saw a picture of Cody,as a boy, along his mom and dad before the accident while looking around and coming to the living room area of the home his mother lived in. She tilts her head a bit as she looked at the photo. She recognized Cody, but the woman and man in the picture were a mystery to the little fox girl. She gently placed the picture down before going to see if anyone was around, eventually she came to the Knight Time Tavern and the smell of the delicious food hits her nose. Her stomach growled loudly before she saw the woman from the picture. The woman looked a little older than in the picture Sonata saw but she could tell that it was the same woman. Sonata was more enticed by the smell of the delicious food that came from the kitchen but was aware that one needed money in order to get some. She had no money, so her ears went against her head some, unaware that she was staying with Cody's mother at that particular moment.

Ann Marie and Rose Mary Blight
They left through the back exit to avoid the curious crowds and went straight to the tavern. Upon walking inside, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Sturdy wooden tables lined the restaurant along with cushioned leather booths. Pillars decorated with lanterns gave the place an old renaissance vibe that attached many locals. Of course, his mother greeted them like any other customers until she realized that it was her son. Once he explained Sonata's presences, she happily accepted the child no questions asked. Ann Marie loved her motherly enthusiasm, but Rose Mary was indifferent to the situation. At least, Sonata would be took care of for the time being until they find a permanent solution. The brown haired woman took Sonata to the house adjacent from the tavern as Cody turned to the two declaring their mission complete. Ann Marie was ecstatic agreeing with Cody ready to celebrate their victory over a well deserved meal. Rose Mary accepted her meal quietly, but wasn't ready to put this mission to rest. Something didn't sit right with her and now she needed to find out what it is.
After they finished their reports and had dinner, Ann Marie departed to her room to get her beauty sleep. She never messed with her sleep schedule and did everything she could to make sure she remained flawless. Rose Mary didn't stick around either, and left to her room as well. She didn't go to see though and snuck out knowing that Cody would catch up to her eventually once he senses her soul drifting away. She decided to head to the alley they fought in earlier where they found Sonata. Rose Mary was going to snoop around for a bit hoping to find some shred of evidence about the witch to easy her troubled mind.

Cody Carter Vanessa was working on cleaning some counters when she noticed one of her serving staff looking to the side, pointing at something. Vanessa turned to find Sonata out of bed and she smiled, "Hello little Sonata!" She said kindly as she walked over, "I hope you slept well, you must be starving after your long journey." she said in a motherly tone gently leading her to a table and helped her into the seat. She left for a moment but came back with a glass of apple juice, "I hope youre not alergic to apple juice Miss Sonata, if you are, I can get you any drink you would like. Right now they are making some food for you in the kitchen, its the kids chicken special." she said kindly as she could see the child may have been confused. She sat in a chair at the table, sitting next to Sonata, "So Sonata, ive been informed you do not have a home, and Lady Death was informed by my son that you would be more then able to stay here. My son is correct but I wanted to make sure it was with you. My home is open to you, and I will care for you as if you were my own daughter, but only if you want to. If you would rather another home, i will help you but I want you to be happy, safe and well cared for." she said sincerely, showing she did want to help the young girl, looking into the Sonata's eyes with soft motherly eyes. Cody walked home with his weapon partners and eventually after a nice meal and their reports done, he saw that Ann Marie was off to her room. If their was one thing besides her amazing defense, it was that she never missed out on her sleep. However as he got ready for bed, he felt Rose Mary sneaking out, able to track which general direction she went, he would follow. When he found she left Death City to the neighboring city they found Sonata, he approached the Alley to find the blind weapon searching, "Do you believe Sonata to be a trojan horse of some kind?" He asked curiously to her, crossing his arms as he looked at Rose Mary a bit concerned. He stepped into the alley, "Sonata and the Kishin were the only two souls in this alleyway, and I didnt sense anyone else for a small distance around us because this is in the factory district, all the factories are closed." He explained as he thought it over, "I wanted to ask you, why do you look at my mother like you do? I fear to say but it almost looks like you look to her and I as if you have a distaste or envy of me." He stated having noticed Rose Mary's expression whenever she was around his mother when he interacted with her. He looked at her, "I only ask because their was one other place where I saw that kind of look and it concerns me." He said softly in a concerned tone as he sat on a dumpster. Vanessa Carter

Sonata Dusk
Sonata was a bit surprised that Vanessa knew her name but soon figured out that Cody must have told her what happened. When she heard the words 'kid's chicken special' Sonata's ears perked and her tail started to wag before she took a sip of her apple juice and her tail started to wag even faster. "Thank you..." She says taken back at the woman's kindness before she hugs Vanessa happily. "No one's ever been this nice to Sonata before...." She says as her ears went against her head as she admits that fact. While Kite, had her moments of kindness, they usually came with consequences on Sonata's behalf.

Ann Marie and Rose Mary Blight
Cody nearly made her jump out of her skin when he spoke from behind her. Of course he followed her here, he still found Sonata to be innocent and after what they just witnessed from her memories why wouldn't they. However, Rose Mary had a gut feeling that something didn't add up and wouldn't be persuaded otherwise. Cody continued convincing her that Sonata and the Kishin were the only souls present. This district is full of factories and according to Cody all of them are closed. Rose Mary may not see, but the smell of soot lingering in the air around here, regardless of boilers being lit or not. Even with this fact, she still searched trying to find anything that would make him reconsider.
Out of the blue, he asked why Rose Mary had distain for his mother and him when ever they went to visit her. Her cheeks became flushed and hot since the question was so personal and having Cody call her out made it worse. However, she swallowed her embarrassment and looked to where she had heard Cody settle upon the dumpster. Her stiff demeanor took over since she now felt like the villain towards her own meister. "Is it that obvious? Fine, yes I'm jealous of you two, is that what you wanted to hear." She gritted her teeth and tightened her fists. "Hearing you two together, and the bound you share, it makes me green with envy. My own mother was a coward...She stood up for a man that beat Ann Marie and I every night until we passed out from our wounds. Then he turned himself into a Kishin and feeling sorry for him she went after him. After she killed the b*****d, she couldn't live without him and followed him in death. She was a fool..." Pain could be seen all over Rose Mary's face as she held back tears from the awful memories. "Had she been like your mother, loving, compassionate, and strong...Did she love us? Even once in our short time together?" Rose Mary put her hand up to her chest and shook her head. "It's hard to let go of these feelings of rage and jealously..." She exhaled deeply and looked to Cody as she stepped forward, "Do you hate me too?" She asked fearing that her own meister would resent her when suddenly a small clicking scrape was hear near her foot. Rose Mary's aggression and fear instantly vanished as she bent down to retrieve the object. After feeling around for a bit, her fingers caught a hold of something square and no bigger than her finger tips. From the indentations of the object, she quickly came to the conclusion of what it was, a tracking chip. Cody was powerful, and so was Lady Death but even she couldn't since a soul through a chip. Holding it out to Cody, Rose Mary's demeanor returned to its normal melancholy self as she replied bluntly, "Still don't think she's a trojan horse of some kind?"

Cody Carter Vanessa watched as the little girl was curious and responsive of her words, she soon found that the little fox girl hugged her, which the woman gently hugged her back, "Well thats a shame, cause you seem like such a loving little sweetheart. Dont worry Sonata, when youre here, I will protect you and you will be under my care." She said hugging the little girl as if her own daughter. As she held the little girl, the food was brought out, the chicken grilled with some tater tots, which was placed for Sonata to eat to her little heart's content, "Dig in, its all for you." She said kindly, a gently sincere smile on her face. Cody looked to Rose Mary as she would take a moment to explain herself, to explain why she felt the feelings that she did, but as he looked at her, he remained quiet as he let her speak. When she explained the difference of their lives, he thought it over as he looked at the ground but when she asked if he hated her too, he remained quiet til she noticed the chip. He walked over and examined the chip, but he walked over to the dumpster and set it down, "Even if she was a trojan horse, their isnt any use for a tracker that isnt on her anymore. The tracker is kinda useless if its here and not on Sonata anymore." He said feeling like Sonata should be cleared more from it. He then thought it over as he walked over and hugged Rose Mary, "I dont hate you, I never have. Do you remember when you and Ann Marie became my weapons, the oath I told you about? 'A sound soul, residing in a sound mind, inside a sound body... with this armor i shall protect those around me.' When i said that, i didnt just say it because of some knight code, I said it because I trust you you and Ann with my life and would give my life to protect you both." He said as he stepped back, "You both are my partners, my weapons and thus, you are both an extension of my soul and I would never turn my back on either of you." He said sincerely, looking her in the eyes even if she couldnt look back. He sighed, "As for my mother, that relationship you saw with her, it wasnt her tending to me... my bond with her was for her sake, not mine. Before we fled to Death City, we were apart of a family, a legacy of other knight meisters that acted outside of the DWMA, but still worked to protect the world from monsters. The blood line and 'family tree' were all filled with those gifted with traits that could learn how to use the gift of soul armor. My mother is apart of the Ravencroft bloodline, the original family of knight meisters. Her brother, Damien Ravencroft, was next in line to be head of the family lineage. However, my mother was there to introduce my father, a powerful soul with amazing control of his soul wavelength. She married him and with his quick learning of the soul armor ability, he was given the title of head of the family. My uncle, Damien, became envious and angry, and as it turns out, began to force himself stronger by slaughtering innocent people to absorb their souls to become stronger. He became the kishin that killed his family, the other knight meisters and my father. My mother and I escaped but she believed she failed her brother and had pushed him away into doing such dark things. She believed the blood of the innocent he killed, was on her hands... so I had to keep her sane, I was the last good in her life so I had to tend to her. Now though, she has Sonata to mother, to be a mother to a child who was abused and experimented on. My mother has purpose outside of thinking she needs me, a guy planing to fight monsters like her brother. One day I may face my uncle, hoping to ease her mind of the monster she feels she failed to stop because she wasnt supportive enough." He explained, hoping Rose Mary understood. Vanessa Carter

Sonata Dusk
Sonata's eyes widened as she sees how much food was on her plate. She smiles as she takes a bite of the chicken, before her tail starts wagging more than it was before. Her face seemed to light up as she ate the children's chicken special. She absolutely loved it. It was really yummy, and the chicken was really juicy. As she ate her tail wagged happily and once she was done, and her belly was full, she smiles and says "I'm full." after she finishes her apple juice. She'd missed having a full belly, but she'd never had good food like this before. It was almost like she'd never eaten anything other than nasty slop before as she smiles at Vanessa chicken and little grease from the tater tots on her cheeks. "Thank you for Sonata's food." She says happily. (O.O.C.- Sorry it took me so long. Been really busy as of late but the semester is finally over and things have calmed down somewhat. So I'll be posting whenever possible.))

Ann Marie and Rose Mary Blight
The warmth of skin felt alien to her as he embraced her. She had never been the affectionate type, not even towards her sister, but she didn't want to lose this feeling. When he recited the lines that he had pledged to Ann Marie and her they day she meet, she mouthed them in unison. The unbreakable vow was hard to forget, however, she lacked those same convictions in her soul. She'll never trust herself as much as he trusts her, and at some point she'll stray from the path. Rose Mary bit her lip when Cody revealed that his relationship with his mother was for her sake and not his own. She had a false picture of the two this entire time and now he was laying everything out in the open.
According to him, his family were a group of Knight Meisters with the Soul Armor ability acting outside of the DWMA. The title of the head to their family lineage was suppose to go to his mother's brother, but went to the man she married instead, Cody's father. His uncle became enraged and began feasting on human souls transforming himself into a Kishin. He then slaughtered Cody's family expect for him and his mother whom escaped. His mother thinks she has to bare the burden of her brother's transgressions causing Cody to keep her in line. However, with Sonata as a sort of "replacement" she be able to have purpose outside of her past. Rose Mary grimaced, Cody's mother has trauma that can be filled...even by the prospects of a helpless child. Cody believes that one day he will face his uncle and final free his mother from the chains of their past. Rose Mary didn't know what to say, even replicating the hug wasn't enough. Although, somehow she had the courage to pipe up something, "When that time comes, to face your uncle, we'll be ready..." She tightened her fist in hope that they'll be strong enough to face such an adversary. "We should go...it's starting to get cold out." She said bluntly ready to put this night behind her.

Cody Carter Vanessa smiled watching the little girl eat up the meal til she was full and then drank her juice. She lightly laughed as she got a napkin and gently knelled by her, cleaning her face of the mess, her hands gentle and motherly as she smiled, "There, all clean..." she realized the girl had a bit more dirt on her, "Hmm... seems like you have more dirt on you then I thought... come on sweety, im going to get you all cleaned up and in nicer clothes." as she would gently lead the girl out of the tavern into the neighboring apartment as she would help the girl get clean and into some more fitting clothes, sometimes she got donations for travelers, sometimes they were refuges needing a stay and spare clothes were nice. Once cleaned, she got some clean clothes for Sonata, helping her get dressed, "Sonata is such a well mannered and wonderful girl. Youre so cute!" she stated happily. Cody sighed as he could see she had doubt, even though Rose Mary was blind, she had a sight to her but her eyes showed doubt and it concerned him. However as she spoke about being ready, he gently put a hand on her shoulder, "Yes, WE will be ready, with your sister as my shield in my left hand, and you as my blade in my right, nothing will stop us from clensing this world of darkness. Whatever monsters be in our path, we will cut through them." He spoke sincerely as he lightly smiled, "Yeah, lets head home, we all could use some rest." He said as he walked with her and put his arm around her, "If it means anything Rose, you and your sister are both strong, you both seem equal, but soul wise, you have so much strength. Ane Marie acts happy but she has as much sadness in her soul as you, but she uses her smile to hide it, ive seen it. She worries about you and I can see that you are in pain yourself but you try holding it together. You dont have to do it alone, we are a team." He said kindly as they walked back to Death City and back to the apartment. Vanessa Carter

Sonata was having fun in the bath but was even more surprised when Vanessa gave her some new, better fitting clothing. She smiles as she gets redressed, happy that Cody's mother was so nice to her. She hugs Cody's mother happily with a small laugh before saying "Thank you for helping Sonata." She says before hearing Vanessa say that she was a well mannered, wonderful little one. Sonata giggles as she heard that. Sonata loved when people were nice to her without wanting anything in return. It wasn't common for people to do that where she was from, as it was always everyone for themselves, with Sonata receiving the short end of the stick. (O.O.C.- ))

Ann Marie and Rose Mary Blight
The next morning, Ann Marie was up bright and early cooking a breakfast that looked like a five star meal! Eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, toast, fruits, and several juices and milk. If she had witnessed last nights events and confessions she wouldn't have been so cheery. Rose Mary ate all she could until her stomach felt like it was ready to explode. She refused to let them leave until they consumed all the required nutrients since they had a test today. The test!!!! Rose Mary had completely forgotten and knew she'd probably fail, but didn't fret to much. Of course, they were suppose to do well in school, but Rose Mary's expertise were in the field. Sighing, Ann Marie lead the way to class and the three sat down near the front row. Since Rose Mary couldn't see, she needed to be near the front to hear and memorize notes. Rose Mary could succeed if she actually applied herself, but she couldn't follow in her sister's prefect footsteps. Ann Marie aced every single test and had straight A's, nothing could break her flawless record.
Rose Mary swayed about aimlessly as she tried her best on the test (it was in brail especially for her) as her mind drifted to other places. Ann Marie hardly blinked finishing her test in no time flat as she quickly cheered Cody and her sister on.
