“The cream is lovely, but wait.” Katori found herself blinking and blinking some more as her mind processed the new information. “Did you just say Taaru?” The mage was suddenly very interested in this conversation. Taaru as in her twin brother? He had been kidnapped by the Dretch?! Oh that would definitely explain how they lost touch at one point but he had never mentioned anything in his recent letters!

“I did.” Nasrin frowned. “Is something the matter, Katori?” She tilted her head innocently as she studied the suddenly frantic looking hybrid. Did Taaru’s name somehow bother her? Was there actually a connection after all?

“That’s my twin.” Katori finally found herself spitting out the words as she took a long moment to try and rearrange her scrambled thoughts. “I knew he was staying towards Matori but I never pieced together…oh my spirits. Both of you are okay now then? Either way I’m going to murder him for not telling me about that!”

“Yes, yes!” Nasrin found herself reaching out to touch Katori’s shoulder, an attempt to calm her down. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t even think to make the connection even though your similar appearances and everything made it so obvious. We’re doing fine, but he went off to take care of a few things before I joined him in Zena. I think he probably didn’t want to worry anyone and we both were still processing what actually happened.” She felt so flustered! Nasrin found herself rambling as she tried to get over the shock of stumbling into Taaru’s twin. “It’s nice to meet you properly though! I uh…I wanted to meet Taaru’s family and now I am….a little unexpectedly but still. I uh….how are you?”

Katori had to take a deep breath, her frustrations quieting down when Nasrin comforted her. “I’m fine.” She finally managed before letting out a sigh. “I just cannot believe….but then again I did a few things without telling him so I suppose I’ll let him get away this time.” She closed her eyes for a moment before focusing on Nasrin again. “I suppose I should be jealous that he’s bringing home such a cute girl.” She teased despite the knot in her chest. If something ever happened to Taaru in the future…how long would it take for her to find out? They had always been together but now so much was happening to them both while they were apart. It was scary to think about honestly.

“Life happens and there’s always surprises.” Offered Nasrin softly as she watched Katori. “A cute…” Her words trailed off with surprise as her cheeks darkened once more. “Ah, I see.” Nasrin quickly moved to gather up the clothing. She had just admitted to Taaru’s twin that she was with him….oh spirits. That was definitely embarrassing. “I should see if they’ll let me try any of this one or should I just buy it all?”

Katori laughed at the other girl’s reaction. “It should be fine to buy it all. I think if you need any alterations my cousin should be more than willing to help when you arrive at the sanctuary.” Katori offered with a grin. “Don’t forget that you should buy some snow boots as well. The leather ones with fur over there should be well insulated and good at keeping your feet dry.”

“Your cousin.” Nasrin chewed on her bottom lip thoughtfully before turning back to Katori. “I know Taaru mentioned he had a lot of family but is there anything in particular I should expect?” She found herself asking. She had talked to Taaru a little bit about his family but it helped to get more details from his twin.

“Ah, well you have our older cousin Zyphire. He’s about twelve years older than us?” Mused Katori with a frown. “He’s really good at cooking and housekeeping. I always asked him to take care of my things. He’s with some ice huntress now and they have children, but he always comes home in the winter. My father is a sorcerer but he always travels and my aunt and uncle are hit or miss. They usually travel but their children tend to linger at the sanctuary sometimes. There’s Azreal, Kuno, Branna and Teagan. Branna is quiet so he won’t bother you and doesn't bother Azreal because he’s a bit grumpy. Azreal and Kuno are the closest in age to us.” She truly didn’t keep that much track of all of this. “Zyphire’s children are still fairly young so you won’t have to worry about them since they usually stay with their mother.”

Nasrin blinked as she listened to Katori. “That’s a big family.” She managed after a moment. Taaru had spoken briefly about everyone but even Nasrin didn’t realize how big the family truly was! Hopefully the manor was big enough to fit them all. Perhaps it was time to think about expanding and making their own home at the sanctuary? Just the thought made her cheeks darken. Perhaps in the future, I don’t want to rush things.

“It is.” Katori chuckled as she gestured towards the shopkeep and handed over some coins. “I’ll buy the outfits if you buy a meal. I’ve worked up an appetite with all of this excitement. What about you?” She studied Nasrin with a small smile before grabbing a pair of gloves for the healer too.

“I could go for a meal.” Nasrin smiled appreciatively as she gathered her new purchases, the shopkeeper being kind enough to provide her with a bag for everything. “Do you have a place in mind? I haven’t been to this particular village yet…” She glanced around, curious about where Katori wanted to go.

“The tavern is fine.” Katori gestured for Nasrin to follow her. “I’ve been here a few times and the food is always good there. If you’re traveling through, are you staying here for the night? I’m assuming Taaru went ahead to the sanctuary to prepare everything?” She teased her twin with affection. “The sanctuary is a few days away but we often stop here while traveling towards Oba and Matori.”

“I am.” Nasrin shook her head. “He got a letter and had to go take care of an issue nearby. I offered to stay here since I still needed supplies and didn’t want to slow him down.” She explained as she followed Katori into the small tavern nestled at the edge of town. It seemed decent enough and the smell of food coming from the inside made her stomach rumble.

“Good. That means I can beat him home and let everyone know.” Teased Katori some more as she helped Nasrin towards a table and took her belongings. “We’ll have some spiced tea and your daily special for me please. Fresh rolls too.” She glanced towards Nasrin. “Hopefully that’s alright with you?”
