Leaning against the railing, the senshi couldn't help but stare raptly at the little flying creatures. They flashed through sunbeams like little jewels, and as the two of them listened, their calls came sweetly down to them through the curtains of leaves.
All this time, Ida mused, and there were now animals on her planet. It seemed impossible... where had they come from? Had they just... popped out of the air? Out of the ground? Had they been sealed away somewhere inside one of the buildings?
"I'm not entirely sure where they came from." She said after a moment, her voice low and soft. "When I first came here, Ida had nothing but grass and a few straggly flowers... the trees were all dead and petrified. Its gotten better over time... I planted a garden and cleaned things up where I could, and eventually the trees came back to life and put out leaves."
Her garden had started out so small... she'd built it up over the years into something extensive, and more wild than structured, since there were never enough hours in the day to really tend it the way it needed.
"The bugs were startling when they first showed up... I figured maybe there were dormant eggs in the soil and plants, and maybe they'd hatched when the planet came to life? It was a long shot, but animals... can our worlds just... bring life out of nothing when the magic gets strong enough?"

“I don’t know.” Erytheia answered. The question puzzled him just as much as it did Ida. What could a world do if its magic was fully restored? “I wonder if, given enough time and magic, it could return to the way it was in the past.” He thought about Erytheia, the wonder, for a moment. He had no memory of it. But he was a descended knight. Yuki held all the memories and he was noticeably silent on the topic. “I do not have any memories of my wonder’s past. They are all held by Yuki, my ancestor. But you might have memories.”He looked out from the balcony, trying once more to find a bird flitting past. “Does this resemble the Ida of the past?”✪

Ida chewed her lower lip as she watched the little birds, crossing her arms as she leaned on the railing with her hands tucked against her sides. He had good thoughts, things she was also considering, and a good question. Was this how it had been? She didn't specifically remember these birds... she remembered the flowers they had seen, and the trees. Considering the sporadic nature of the memories, its possible she just hadn't seen them yet.
"The more time I spend here, the more things start to change and come back to life, but... Its all different than it used to be. Which I guess makes sense? Its been a thousand plus years since there were people here. Even if the world was completely restored, it wouldn't really be the same." She said as she glanced over at him. "A lot of people came to Ida in the past to be healed and treated for all sorts of diseases. Without the people who lived here, and the people who came from other planets, I don't think it'll really ever look or feel much like it does in my old memories, even with the same plants and animals. It'll just be something new, and thats not a bad thing. At least there will be animals here to enjoy it now, and not just me."
She laughed as she straightened, rolling her shoulders.
"There are other things to see, if you like. I've cleaned up some of the rooms down on the ground floor, and I have a pretty extensive garden now. I've been working on it for a few years."

Even if it was completely restored, it would never be the same as it was. Would it be like that for Erytheia too? But nothing had come back to Erytheia, not like this. Perhaps nothing would come back at all. Perhaps there was nothing to begin with to come back to. “That’s not a bad thing. New is good.” He said, almost to convince himself. There was so much to Ida’s world and all new to him. He almost wasn’t surprised when she said there was more. It all seemed so vast and endless. He smiled, genuinely, the rare hint of excitement back in his voice. “Then let’s go!”✪

Ida found herself smiling brightly, feeling lighter inside than she had for a while. She loved her world, and the chance to share it filled her with warmth.
"I'm not sure how much of the inside of the towers that you saw, or if it was just the main tower... but this world was like a huge hospital complex back in the Silver Millennium. People had normal lives, of course, the usual things, but a good portion of the people helped research diseased and care for people who came here with conditions that couldn't be treated on other worlds. A lot of the insides of the builds show remnants of that, and there are a lot of... almost apartments for long term patients." She said as she waved at the large arched door way behind them. Leading him inside, she began to point out things she had discovered and remembered their function, as well as the things she wasn't quite sure of yet.
Her little tour led them down through the building they were in and she explained the way Idan technology had been made, literally, of plants. The planet gave off ambient energy, she explained, and the plants had evolved to absorb that energy, some more than others. The people had learned how to harness that gathered energy the way you use electricity, and with the planet's ability to great increase the speed plants grew, were able to grow the equivalent of machinery that used the energy. Lights, computers, vehicles... all grown of plant matter and running off the planet's energy. There had been artisans who specialized in directing the plant growth to make what they needed, and scientists who had found ways to breed new plants for new industrial purposes.
It was a lot to explain, and by the time they reached the base of the tree, Ida realized she'd been talking for quite a while and she blushed as she slowed, waving awkwardly out at the other trees.
"And... that's sort of what's in all of them, at least here. Living spaces, work places, everything. I've only seen a portion of it... but I have restored some rooms for myself to use, over by the garden."

Erytheia was amazed. All of his was powered by the plants on Ida. He looked at each thing she described, his imagination filling in the blanks as to how each would have functioned in the past. He imagined the grand hospital Ida described and he could practically see it as each new detail Ida described filled in the picture. It was as if the plants were coming alive more and more. “I’d love to see the restored rooms and garden.”✪

She brightened at his statement, pleased she hadn't worn him out with all of her tour-guiding. It made her feel warm that even after all that, he was still interested. Smiling shyly, she waved a hand at the stairs and turned to lead him that way.
"We can go down and see them, then. They're this way." She said, clasping her hands behind her back. "They're not nearly as grand as the ancient trees and buildings, or all the technology they made back in the silver millennium. I've been doing it all by myself, so its taken a long time and a lot of effort, even with my powered strength. I had a lot of clearing to do before anything else..."
They made their way down the stairs at a slower pace this time, since there were no birds to chase. It gave more time to enjoy the view from the balcony and winding stairs, the arches holding up the roof draped with trailing vines and leaves.
"Have you done anything on your wonder yet? What was there when you went the first time?" She asked as they walked, shifting the topic finally to something other than her asteroid.

Erytheia wondered if they would run into that cocoon-like machine that he vaguely remembered that he had seen as a page. “My wonder?” His mind was forced away from the plants of Ida to a more broken landscape. His own. “It’s nothing as advanced as this.” He said, recalling his first time there also as a page. How scared he had been! “On my first visit there, it was completely barren.”✪

Ida nodded as she listened, carefully navigating her way down the stairs.
She remembered her own first visit to Ida... the empty meadow of grass, the stark trees. How silent everything had been. The contrast to now was significant, even with just the faint bird song over their heads.
"Just rock and dirt? Where there buildings? Ida had nothing but grass my first time here... all the trees were still dead. Every place I've been, there were ruins of some sort, but they're all so different an unique." She said.

“For the most part. At least, on my first visit.” He said as they descended the stairs. “On my next visit, I found an old tree and my signet ring. Actually, it wasn’t until I was a knight that Yuki introduced me to the first structure on Erytheia — a large gate with a closed stone door.”✪

"Oh..." Ida said, drawing out the word as she considered what a place like that would be like. Nothing but half-dead wilderness, for how long? Months? It wouldn't have bothered her, she thought, if Ida had not had any buildings... but she was a city girl, for all that she gardened, and had been most of her life. She didn't know what she would have done with a world like that... make some fumbling first attempts, and then learn how to work with it through research, trial and error, probably. Or maybe she would have only built herself a small structure and left the rest of the world alone... if there were no structures, then maybe that was how it was meant to be.
"Is that all there was, just the large gate? Was there a wall, or a city inside?"
The worlds and wonders they all came from were strange and magical places. It would have been odd to only have that, but she was not sure it would surprise her that much.

“Just the gate.” He said, realizing how odd that sounded. “And, according to Yuki, he’s never seen it open even when he was alive.”✪

At the bottom of the stairs, Ida turned and led the way across the quiet city of trees, following what might have been a paved path at one point and was now a trail of broken stone buried in deep grass.
"I wonder if it teleports you somewhere if you go through it. It must be somewhere no one wants to go, or it would be open, right?" She said, curious about the possibilities.
"Does your ancestor talk about it much? What significance it had?"

“He said many thing about that — about the Shine Gates. That’s what Yuki called them the one time he told me where he thought they led.”He said cautiously, as if he didn’t quite believe what he was saying at all. “The most plausible of all the places, strangely enough, is the Galaxy Caldron.”✪

Ida tilted her head as she thought about that.
"You know, that would make a lot of sense. I knew Hvergelmir, who is also a Cosmos Knight, and she told me her wonder used to be a way station on the route to the Cauldron. Cosmos guards the Cauldron... it does make sense. Though, I don't know why it wouldn't be open, then. Even back in your ancestor's time." It certainly was a mystery, but that was part of the wonderful things about homeworlds and wonders. There was so much to learn and discover.
The garden Ida took Erytheia to was not walled, and only really stood out from the rest of the greenery by virtue of how much more orderly and tended it was than the rampant growth around them. There were a number of tilled beds full of growing things, and mulch paths laid down between them. Flowers were everywhere, but there were a number of food crops as well. Each plant, though it might have looked familiar, came in a bright, vibrant, and very odd color, wildly different from its counterpart on earth. They were also a good deal larger too, far larger than they might have otherwise grown.
"This is what I work on when I come to Ida." She said, waving a hand at all of it. I like seeing the things I plant grow so well here."
