Uvarovite's single call of his new name made Spinel physically wince. It was that same one he knew so well from childhood that his father had used when he ws done listening to his son. Evene as an adult by legal terms, that tone nd that look was enough to make the white haired youth scowl.

But he said nothing. To the so called man in charge, to keep the peace in that moment, he closed his mouth like a good little boy and lethis ;elders; talk. His 'betterso.

But he watched. He listeed. He waited.

For while he loved the thrill of adventure, he also enjoyed sweet, sweet payback.

And the kiss a** Leucite had his full attention now.

:As you wish" was his only comment as he alloed them to lead and fell into line.

He gave the young man another look before taking a deep breath and nodding. Spinel was going to be an issue and he was going to have to keep an eye on him. If he behaved the rest of the mission he could leave it alone, it wasn't as if the young man would be his issue. But he he became an issue ...

"Now that we are settled ... Leucite, keep focus on your crystal and we will follow that. It seems to be stronger than mine."

If it turned out to be nothing they could reverse course and go after the signature that he had found but Uvarovite wanted to make sure they didn't miss anything.

Following the stronger signature lead directly to one of the abandoned warehouses. The doors on one of the loading bays were open -- if one could consider a door that looked to be half on its hinges open, as opposed to just broken. It was an invitation, either way, to the group that had made its way there, with no traces of a lock and no sign of security. It was dark inside, of course, but the crystals seemed as though they would give off enough of a glow to see by when this close to an apparent energy source.

Just beyond the door and do the left was a staircase leading up to the second floor, likely to an office overlooking the warehouse floor. The floor itself, at a quick glance, seemed to be rows of steel shelving that could turn up a number of things with proper exploration. No one ever really said what these abandoned places had stored before they'd been left alone and neglected, after all...

OOC:

The crystal doesn't seem to be giving a clear lead as to where in the warehouse the signature is coming from. It's like being told 'You Are Here' after pulling into a parking lot but before you can actually find where you're headed. Your choices continue...

Do you split up and investigate both floors at once?

Do you start upstairs and clear the top floor before heading down?

Do you start downstairs and clear the bottom floor before heading up?

As you decide, please roll 1d20 and quote Brilliant Moonbeams if you roll 17-20.

Leucite had done as commanded, and as they entered the abandoned warehouse, he couldn't help but notice that, if you'd cleaned up the place some, it would make for a great MMA gym. He could already see the layout in his head, and made a mental note to maybe run the idea by his cousin the next time he saw her. Though odds are it would go the same way his last idea had gone.

Naw... best to shelve the idea and actually look into what it would even take to get something like that up and running first, actually surprise her with a bit of forethought and planning. Not that he was in any position to really to coach or teach but hey - with time he might just earn a real following.

Focus on the mission! He chided himself, before turning his attention to the room at large. Lots of options... but really the most prudent would be...

"Start at the bottom and work our way up?" He suggested to Uvarovite. "Be harder to slip the net if we fan out and always keep one of us between the door and the group?"

"You most likely have a point..." He couldn't argue with Leucite's plan. They could split up but that ran the risk of them losing the creature they were chasing if it was in the warehouse. If they kept at least one person by the door then they had a much better chance of actually catching it should it try to escape.

It would be easier if they could bar the door somehow but trying to move a huge door that was already off his hinge was most likely a waste of time.

"Who wants to stay down here and keep an eye on the door and who would like to be in the search party?"

"Given equipment," Spinel decided to answer as he took in a deep breath. He knew the look Uvarovite had given him. It was the same look he'd seen others around his father provide him over and over again while the 'golden child' shined.

"One of you two should stand by the door." He motioned towards Uvarovite and Leucite, each holding nets. "Or trade with one of us and you two go in. The person at the door should have a chance at catching the cat and not just with their bare hands. Even if this thing is as smart as claimed, well..."

He held up the cat toys. "I've never heard of an escaping animal stop running for its life stop to play."

"Spinel has a point," Leuctie nodded. "It should be either you or me. I'll hold the door. I'm pretty fast on my feet, and as long as someone calls out if it slips past, I should be able to get a bead before it gets past me. Even if it tries to slip out while you guys move by, I'll just keep my head on a swivel."

If they had a better means to communicate - like lapel radios or something - then he would have been more inclined to suggest that Uvarovite play door guard and coordinate from the possibly better vantage point, but since they didn't he decided he's volunteer as tribute.

Uvarovite nodded at Leucite's suggestion assuming that the other man wouldn't have volunteered if he didn't think he could handle it. Depending on how large the second floor was, and how it was laid out, he could also stay on the stairs and make sure that whatever they were looking for had less of a chance to get past them as well.

He rested his net over his shoulder before motioning for the others to head up in front of him. "You two have the lures so you will have a better chance at finding our mystery creature. I will trust your judgements if you find it."
