Daire flashed a grin, and there was something deliberately mischievous about it. “Intuition, mostly,” he said, sounding all too put together and comfortable talking about his illegal practices.
“Sometimes, you just know. Sometimes, I suppose, you take something and you’re wrong, but,” he shrugged. “At that point in time, why even bother taking it back? It’s not like strange things only ever wind up in museums. You can find them all over. Haven’t you ever been out and you look at something and you just feel it? Can’t put your finger on it and you know there’s something about it?”
He leaned back, obviously capable of being relaxed while very invested in the conversation. “And I don’t mean some cute name brand shirt, or some burger on a menu. I mean, you’re out, and you feel it. Maybe it’s a museum, or a pawn store, or just something you found in the middle of nowhere. Usually something old. My grandfather always thought that things built up energy the older they were. Good energy, bad energy. Thought it could manifest in different ways. He had a lot of theories. Was real big on things developing souls, but.” This was the first time he faltered, even though it was just slightly. “That’s a whole other story, I don’t know if you’re ready for that one yet.”

Felt drawn to an object? Eris tilted her head in thought, a little hum escaping her as she thought. Her henshin pen, she supposed, would have been that object when she was younger. Since then though, her life's been pretty devoid of ...any powerful emotions other than sadness and boredom. So she shrugged a little. "Maybe at some point in my life, but I can't say I remember what it was like if it happened." She was still thinking, but listening to Daire. Then he said she wasn't ready for something, and Eris looked at him with a challenge in her eye and a brow arched. The tiny smirk on her lips grew until she actually let out a laugh, barely contained behind a black gloved hand. "Yeah? Not ready hm? I guess you're trying to keep me around by leading me with all these promises of interesting things." It was working, too. She wanted to know what he was talking about. Maybe something they could use. "I didn't know souls could be developed..."

Daire couldn’t help but laugh. “Well, I get the impression you wouldn’t waste any time with me if I wasn’t interesting. If I play all my cards, I won’t get to see you again, will I?”
He cracked a grin and was undeniably playful, but not maliciously secretive. “Truth be told, I don’t know if it’s true. I want to find out. He was studying all sorts of things. Maps, writings, art. My grandfather all all these wild conspiracies, and yeah, they sound a little crazy, but. I don’t know. There’s just something about the way he talked about things that made me believe them. And in Destiny City, where anything’s possible? ...I’ll get the answers he couldn’t. I mean--I’ve already found you, right? And you’re a work of art, full of magic and secrets. Maybe I oughta stick with you.”

"....You'll put yourself in a great deal of trouble if you stick with me," Eris stated simply, pursing her lips. "I'm not always... Well. You probably won't enjoy the things I have to do to survive." She pushed hair off her shoulder before stepping forward again, hands going behind her back, between her wings. "However, you can if you wish. I can offer some protection against the others who might wish to do you harm, should you start sticking your nose where it doesn't belong." This was an offer to him, as well as a warning. Part of her was wondering if she could persuade him into joining her ranks. He would be too old to be awakened, she thought, but he might make a good lieutenant. She was debating with herself on that. She was quiet for a bit after that, lost in thought. No, she wouldn't offer him that. Not yet. She wanted to get a feel of who he really was. Perhaps see if he would make it. How would she test him though without actually hurting him? "Where should we make our next meeting?" Maybe a change of topic would do good. "...if you would like to anyway. I do not know what else I can offer you at the moment aside from what I said."

“To be fair, I’m usually always in some deal of trouble. What’s a little more?” he asked, and somehow made it sound like he wasn’t just speaking with hubris. “We all do things to survive. Not all of them are pretty. I’m not afraid.”
Not overconfidence, just a fact. It was something he was at peace with.
“The truth is, I’m always sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong. But you don’t find what I’m looking for if you’re always playing by the rules. Of course I’d like to meet up with you. You don’t have to offer me anything. I mean, yeah, I’d absolutely take a conversation over dinner if you’re offering. My treat, since you’ve been so accommodating for me already. Anywhere you like. Unless you want a nice, home cooked meal. Which, I can also provide.”

Somewhere private? Why did her chest ache at that? She idly rubbed it, just below the cracks, and let her face fall into a pensive expression. She'd never been to someone's house before.... that she wasn't 'assigned' to. Kip had been assigned to take care of her when she had been corrupted. He'd then given her his house, so she didn't have to worry about finding somewhere else to stay. "...Perhaps..." She glanced over to him, single brow knit just a little. "...Perhaps it would be fine to trust you enough to come over. You've done nothing wrong thus far. As far as I know, you know how to keep a secret." Especially if he was a thief. You had to keep secrets. "...maybe then I would entrust you with another secret." Why Eris was thinking of showing up as a civilian? She wouldn't be able to relax if she was powered up and in someone's house. It made that place a walking target for any Order sided senshi to track her down. It would potentially put him in trouble. Eris didn't want him in that kind of danger. Should she exchange numbers with him? Should she tell him her real name?

Daire’s eyes lit up. “I’m very good at keeping secrets. And I’ll be on my best behavior. I’m a gentleman at heart, I assure you.”
He batted his eyelashes as if that was supposed to be particularly convincing, but despite all the flamboyance and flair he didn’t seem like he was up to anything.
“I don’t make friends as interesting as you very often. And, even if I did, it wouldn’t make this something disposable to me. Besides, you’ve got magic. If I ever upset you, I’m sure you could just kill me.” He said it flippantly enough, but without any doubt on the matter. “I wouldn’t play with fire like that. Can’t help but get lost in it, though. Especially when it’s so pretty.”
That, he said, while tracing the features of her face.
Daire gave no indication that he was deliberately laying it on thick, then; he seemed like he might have actually gotten distracted just admiring her.

Eris could feel his eyes on her, and she looked back at him with an unreadable expression. A twitch, a crease in her brow, and she sighed before looking around. She couldn't show up as a civilian. Daire wouldn't know it was her. Her jaw clenched, mind made up, Eris slowly moved away from him, but held up a hand for him to wait. "I will kill you if you betray me." It was said coldly, but with a tint of tight worry. With a flash of light, Eris went from her powered form to her civilian form. Her long hair was short now, a pixie cut that was unstyled and slightly wavy on the top of her head. The eyepatch had changed to a plain black oval, and the clothing changed. Instead of her dangerous and elegant dress, she wore a pair of high-quality jeans and an overly large, white, knit sweater with a cream shirt under that. This was the first time she's ever trusted anyone with her civilian form since Kip. No one knew both forms except these two men now. Rin looked completely unsure. Ready to run at the first sign of trouble. "I'm Rin Tanikawa. We can exchange phone numbers if...it's amendable to you."

Maybe the idea of magic was only just really setting in, when she shifted from one form to the next. He saw her change. He wouldn’t have recognized Rin if she’d been standing in front of him, no matter how many times he’d traced the lines of Eris’ face.
“Betray you? Please, give me some credit. And your phone number, Rin Tanikawa.”
He was already pulling out his phone. “I’m not foolish enough to earn a goddess’ ire. I’m just happy enough to have earned her attention.”

Slowly she pulled out her phone and handed it over. Yes, it was Rin's idea, but it still made her nervous. The only numbers she had in her phone were work and a couple of fast food places. At the same time, she took his phone and made a new contact for herself, adding just 'Rin' as the name. His words did make her lips curl though. Rin watched him, expression seeming a little more gentle than Eris'. Part of her felt like she should apologize because she didn't know if she'd actually answer all his texts. She didn't have friends. She wanted them though. Rin wanted a lot now. "Good to know. Just... I work a 7 am to 5 pm job Monday through Friday... as long as school is in. Just in case I do not respond to you." Not an apology. An explanation. That was better.

Daire raised a brow but didn’t seem particularly upset about this. His eyes stayed on the screen of her phone until he finished plugging in his information, and then he handed it back over. “I’m not worried. You’ll text me when you think about me. Pretty girl like you, no doubt you’ve got a lot going on. I’m a bit of a night owl, but I’m a light sleeper too, so.”
He shrugged, and had a comfortable, lazy smile on his face. It seemed like it belonged there, like he was enjoying this.
Enjoying her.
“I’ll wake up for you. Whenever you want.”

The flush that always seemed to be on her face when she talked to Daire got even brighter the longer he complimented her. Honestly, Rin was trying so hard to get used to the way he talked, the way he flirted with her constantly. It had to just be how he talked to everyone. It wasn't anything to get worked up about. She took a deep breath and pocketed her phone before looking back up at him. "I...will not wake you up, I hope." A little smile quirked on her lips. "I didn't like being woken up when I did live with others." It was true. Rin hated her alarm waking her up, but that wasn't the same as someone else waking her up. Right? You set the alarm. Someone texting you randomly woke you up when you weren't expecting it? That wasn't something she enjoyed. ...In theory. She never had anyone texting her that early, even before she became a recluse. "If I do, feel free to tell me I owe you coffee. I'll make it up to you." She was enjoying this too.

Oh, she was cute. Daire’s smile never left his face and for as lazy and easy going as it appeared to be, he seemed to be completely invested in her.
“A coffee date? We shouldn’t save that for a chance text. We should pick a time and place, now. I know a cute cafe, I can text you the address. Good coffee, good tea, good pastries. Everything you could want for breakfast, brunch, and more. I can text you the address. Maybe afterwards, we can do a museum in the day time, if you’re into that? Unless you might be more interested in something a bit more exciting. Tell me what you want, I’ll make it happen.”

He was so excited with his words, she just brought a hand to her face and rubbed it with an amused almost giggle. "...Saturdays and Sundays are my best days, as I work... So ...Saturday morning? Maybe mid-morning? Nine or ten." Rin thought about what she needed to do in the morning, and what time would be best. "Let's make it more concrete," she said, hoping to get to that before he could say anything about that. "So nine. You can text me the address, I do not mind at all." The temperatures were warming up, too, so perhaps she wouldn't have to bundle up for this meeting. "I wouldn't mind a museum date. It'd be nice to see it from the inside for a change." A small jab that mad her lips quirk up.

Oh, she was precious. Endearing. How could he not be captivated? She had an air of danger about her, but at her core she was still something else.
This.
“Nine, Saturday morning. I’ll text you the address when I get home. We’ll take a tour. A proper one. And if that’s not interesting enough, maybe I’ll see if I can’t pick a few locks and sneak us inside their back rooms to see if there’s anything else back there.”
He was teasing, obviously, but the offer for something exciting was there. Obviously, he didn’t want to blow his cover or have any odd eyes on him, but if he was going to get into trouble it might as well have been with a pretty girl.
