"Fine, just a moment.." Wyatt said, smile fading as he picked up on Lukas' tone and demeanor. Well s**t - mommy was in trouble with daddy. He retrieved the brush trimmers, electing to leave the plant behind and met back up with Lukas at the checkout and watching the man carefully as they were rung up and made their way back to the truck.

Lukas was uncomfortably quiet for the rest of the little trip. In checkout, there was a brief pause, noticing no plant there, but he couldn't bring himself to say anything. His gaze still remained above Wyatt's shorter frame, from the moment he paid, all the way until he loaded the truck up and got in the driver's seat. The car didn't start up yet. For a long moment, he stopped moving entirely, looking at the somewhat empty parking lot and away from the man he had come to really enjoy being around. It felt incredibly awkward between them right now, and his chest, well, the more he thought about it, the more it tightened. And honestly, he couldn't stand it. He never was one to simply just... Let things be. ".... Wyatt." He finally spoke up, turning to look at him with an unreadable expression. Not quite neutral but there was something stirring in his mind. "... Promise me you won't hate me for what I'm going to do now?"

"Hate you? What? No, I am fully expecting to get a dressing down for what I did. Clearly I was out of line, and I apologize~" Wyatt replied preemptively, having felt that bit of panic stir up in him as they got in the car, and that moment of silence grew. The panic was a feeling that made his face feel cold and swimmy and a twisting in his stomach. He thought he knew where their boundaries were, and even though they sometimes pushed them a little, he was figuring now he had over-stepped....

"A dressin' down? What?" While he wanted to ask more, he only sighed, shaking his head. Whatever rambling Wyatt wanted to keep doing, he ignored. Instead he crossed the space between them in the truck, careful of gear shifts and breaks, and wrapped an arm around the small of Wyatt's back. If that woman was close to him earlier, Lukas now had the smaller man pulled even moreso, bodies flush against one another. That arm about Wyatt was locked in place, refusing to give him a chance to move away, the other hand coming up to quickly, but with as much gentleness as he could muster, grab Wyatt's chin and force him to look directly at him. "Look. I don't care when yah play your lil' teasing games up in the mountains, or when you try to be all subtle and coy... But you can't do things like that ta me... Cuz I'm just like you. I got needs and thoughts and wants and if yah keep actin' like that, I'mma think you mean and and you want somethin' more for me. I'm tryin' to be patient with yah but iffin' you keep acting like this, I ain't gonna be able to hold back. ... I like yah, Wyatt. You know that."

Wyatt didn't know what to expect from Lukas right then, but before he knew it, he was pinned between the seat and Lukas, and he could feel his heart racing in his chest and he regarded the man and his words with the utmost seriousness. Oh but Lukas, that was exactly what he wanted. Wyatt let out a breathless, quiet, but serious, "Who says I'm playing?" and held his gaze firmly with his rose pink eyes as if they were in a standoff. Wyatt was playing, but not in the way Lukas thought he was. He wanted this from the man. It garnered a physical reaction that he was sure, with as close as they were, Lukas could feel. But still, Wyatt held his gaze in challenge. Daring. But knowing Lukas wasn't tipped over that boiling point just yet, or else he wouldn't be giving him this 'warning.' He was pretty confident in that.

A soft, rumbling sound came from Lukas's throat. He couldn't call it a growl, but maybe a sound of frustration? "I dunno. I don't. Cuz you play these word games all sly like, an' there's too much in yer head goin' on that I can't ever tell. If I keep goin', are you gonna push me away? Are you gonna regret sayin' what yer sayin' right now?" That hold on Wyatt only got tighter, the gap between their faces closing little by little. "I'm not playin' anymore either."

Wyatt was about to say something when a knock came on the window of his door, startling him and he tore away from Lukas' grip to look and see the parking lot guard staring in at them. "s**t," he muttered under his breath. The muffled voice of the guard spoke, now that he had their attention, "Best get going, you two. Can't have any of that here!" Wyatt lifted a hand, waving off the guard, who waited for them to right themselves before moving on.

Just what sort of crappy luck was he having today?! He didn't scramble as much as Wyatt did, his expression turning back into his neutral, one. "Sure thing, Officer. Sorry about that!" Lukas called out, voice steady and professional as always. A second later, they were on the road, back up the mountain, with the man driving not saying a single word.
