Maybe that was it? It always seemed like those that weren't of Oba were trying do desperately to prove themselves to their local tutors. Sariza had been seen by a few shifter healers over the years, even a leafling once, and they were always so much rougher than the natives. They were rushed, harsher and never seemed to have enough patience for the fears of a child.
This man was just different. He radiated a sort of sadness that translated into a much more methodical experience and his focus was on her pain rather than what he had to do next. If he worried about how much time he was taking on one patient instead of the waiting room outside he didn't show it. "...Thank you for that."

Why was she thanking him? It shouldn't have to be some sort of special event for a healer to take care in their patient. Still, whatever happened to this woman had skewed her worldview and if he could help compensate for those troubles even a little bit Asa would gladly do so.
"You're quite welcome." Sitting back, he looked at the limb and nodded. "You're all set to go, miss. They'll get you all squared away up front. Tell them you need a jar of numbing salve; it'll help take the edge off while you sleep."

Sariza nodded her head and gently eased her way off the examination table. Getting adjusted to the sling would take some time. She already felt the urge to slip it out, but surely six weeks would fly by, right? Goddess I hope so.
"Would it be alright if I had your name? So I can know who to see when I come back?" Obviously if she had to see another healer she would, but honestly, if Sariza could see this man again she would much prefer that. If Father even lets you outside after this. He was likely going to throw a fit over the injury.

“Oh, of course. My name’s Asa and it’s been a pleasure to meet you, miss. I hope that your next assignment treats you better than this one.” He would have stood to see her out the door, as was only proper, but it seemed that every time Asa used his magic his stamina drained just a little bit more. So, instead, he simply chose to sit up as tall as he could. “Stay safe out there. All too often I see the city guard in this clinic for treatment, but I’d rather you not make it a habit.”

“I’ll try not to.” Sariza offered him a small, awkward smile before slipping out the door. If she noticed the way the bags beneath his eyes seemed a little more pronounced Sariza made no mention of it. There was something off about the healer, something that he didn’t want to focus on and for that reason alone she didn’t question it. With any luck he would continue to stay so kind no matter what life tossed his way. She could only hope that when she came back in six weeks that he would be there and that the harsh realities of the desert wouldn’t scare him away.
