Etana chuckled at Pello’s joke. Maybe it was better that they had ‘gotten her out’. She could definitely agree that she wasn’t the same person she was before moving to Haukea. She thought of her sister, Bane, and how serious she was. They definitely had moved onto different paths in their lives.
Etana pursed her lips. They had barely started their journey into Tendaji, she hadn’t given the end of their adventure a thought yet. ”Well… where do you think?” She didn’t quite know if she was following Pello’s thoughts. Was he saying where she would settle, or where they would settle? He had been a major part of her life for years now, she couldn’t imagine not living with him. ”Do we go back to Haukea?”

He shrugged at her follow-up question, before a rare thoughtful look crossed his normally playful features. He too wondered about the unknown, and if he would be tempted to settle somewhere outside of home like many Kahikinans were starting to do. He had been warned by a few Hapuna about the alluring cultures of the world around them, though nothing would ever compare to the reef-lands they hailed from. But what if they desired to spend more than a simple trip on the mainland?
"I can't imagine it not being home...but I'm also not unwilling to settle somewhere if it makes sense? With me not going into the family business, it's easy to consider what ifs..."

Etana nodded slowly to Pello, taking in his words. Well he didn't seem to be talking about splitting up and parting ways, but he also didn't flat out say we, but Etana was probably overthinking things. She internally brushed her worries off tried to pay more attention to what Pello was saying and not how he was saying it.
"Well, I've already been living away from home for so long, I don't think it would bother me to settle down in a new place. Although Tendaji just seems so foreign it's hard to imagine..."

He smiled at her with her comment about living away from her home, understanding she was just as excited about this opportunity to explore the world as he.
"You're right...but it sounds just foreign enough for me want to spend a year or two learning all I can about that...before retiring back at the reefs. Sunlight, Surf...it'll be hard for anyone to convince me there's a better place."
It seemed the waves were calming enough that Pello forgot about any seasickness, his pallor a bit warmer once more.
"If you give it a chance, I'm sure you'd love it too."

Etana returned the smile and cocked her head to the side. “I think the company would make any situation better regardless.”
Pello wanted to venture out and explore and it sounded like he wanted to live a Tendaji life for the experience of it. The way he talked about it could even persuade Etana to be excited by the idea. She was used to Pello leading the way throughout their childhood and she didn’t really have any qualms about following him still now.
They were one step closer on their adventure and soon she would see whether Tendaji lived up to the hype.
