Koril couldn't help giggling and squeezed Sol's hand encouragingly. "Don't worry. As much as he lurks, papa is just a big softie like the quhar! Remember those in Oba? I promise he smells much better than they did though." He looked between his parents and grinned. "I can't wait to see how big everyone is now!"
Ah, it was so good to be back visiting! "It all smells wonderful! Just ask if you need help with anything." It was a good thing that he had never been a picky eater. Such a trait would not have traveled well with his old budget. Once he guided Sol to the table, he felt a damp nose press against his leg. "Oh Flana, I'm sure they have a treat stored away for you, too."
Meanwhile, Sandstorm had settled under a tree and Mekameko had made her way after the group to follow the yummy smells. With a soft little trill, she hopped over and sat at the floor of the counter, tails twitching with interest as she sniffed the air.

With a small nod, Dex turned to fetch water for everyone. Wait, what was he being compared to now? "I like to think I look a little better than those beasts," he huffed, though the humor was returning to his tone. Though a poor youth kept him from reaching 'tall,' his muscled had been allowed ample fortification to flourish.
He set the waters at each place at the table, snorting at Kyril's comment. "Destroyed? More like annihilated! There won't be a scrap left after the boys get through here, so eat up while you can." If he focused more on just enjoying time with his family than the fact that a new and important face was there, he could face the evening with relative calm.

To say that Sol wasn't expecting the hug would have been an understatement. He bristled immediately, mostly out of shock and the general spike of unease that came from not being able to predict the sudden act. His hand tightened unconsciously around Koril's, but once it was all over his smile was a little...embarrassed? Shy, even? It was definitely nice to feel welcomed, but he was starting to think that maybe meeting everyone one at a time first might have been nice.
"It smells great, Kyril." And it really did. As soon settled down at the table he raised his nose just a bit to try and pick up a few of the scents. "Is that fish?" His smile took an almost excited little quirk. The Zenan born hybrid had a soft spot for it and on habit he leaned closer to Koril, "Would you mind?" It was one thing to set up their meals back home, but something he'd discovered on the road was that some things it was just easier to swallow his pride and ask for help with.
Sol patted the table top until his hand came into contact with his goblet. Before lifting it to his lips he sent a little burst of magic through it, creating a fine layer of ice on the outside to chill the water just enough to remind him of home.

A giggle left Shadiya's lips at the interaction and the dancer had to look away to try to hide her growing smile. More than likely it was in vain considering how happy she was to see both of her oldest children again and even more so to just spend time together at a dinner. She just hoped Sol would be prepared for the full dinner in a couple of nights once everyone came home. Now that would be a bit chaotic indeed. "Don't worry, honey. You definitely look better than most things." Shadiya teased with a grin towards Dexurn, her hand reaching out to touch his shoulder once more before she took a seat for herself. "Come sit and enjoy. He's not wrong because they will destroy everything so take what you want now while you have the chance."

"Okay, okay." Kyril rolled her eyes though a grin did cross her lips at the commentary. "The food is going to be annihilated once everyone else comes in." She teased lightly before her expression brightened even more at Sol's response to the food. "It is! If you like it I can order more tomorrow when I'm back in the village. We don't cook so much here but we often get fresh meals from a chef in town." She had already started stacking her plate with the shredded roast and potatoes, her fork moving to plop a piece in her mouth before she gently pushed the tray of fish closer to Sol and Koril.
"I do hope you're enjoying Matori so far. Have you been in the region before?" Kyril managed after she swallowed a bite, her gaze curious as she looked between her brother and his companion.

Koril laughed with delight. "I remember being hungry all the time when I was little. I can only imagine what it's like with those two. Remind me.. it's Omari and Olokun, right?" It was still amazing that his family continued to grow in size. While he was sad to have missed out on the new arrivals, there was no way he would trade that experience for what he has instead.
"Of course." Koril set to work getting two plates put together. "Just wait until you try this. It's different than the fish up in Zena but I'm sure you'll still love it." Once Sol was settled in, he took a moment to put a few bites of the fish and roast onto plates for the curious and hungry animals. "Now, no begging you two. I'll feed you properly after I finish."
Of course, neither beast paid his words any mind. Flana was inhaling her portion while Mekameko seemed to be trying to push her bowl away from the table to get space from everyone to eat in peace.

Dex sat back and waited to make sure everyone else filled their plates before he grabbed his own. As awkward as he felt, he was also fascinated watching the young couple interact. Koril had grown so much over the years, maturing and smoothing out those over-energized tendencies. That seemed to be the theme of the night.. everyone growing and changing.
"I remember when we first came to Matori," he chimed in, reaching over to pat Shadiya's hand lightly. "It was like a dream."

"No, I haven't. I came to Oba when I was younger with my sister, but that was as far south as we got." The more he heard about the two gremlins who would ransack the table once they got the chance the more curious Sol became. A part of him wanted to hide away for his own safety, but that one bit of him...Honestly, he just wanted to see how bad it could actually get. Surely a few children couldn't get that rough, right?
"My fathers are here now, though, raising my younger siblings. It would be nice to visit them while we're here." With one hand Sol loosely laid his hand atop the edge of the plate as a sort of mental marker while the other lifted his utensil and with practiced ease he took up a bite of something. Until it hit his lips he wasn't sure what, but happily enough it was the fish. "Where else have you lived besides Matori?"

"Yep." Shadiya nodded towards Koril. "I'm surprised you didn't eat us out of our home back then." She grinned as she plucked a few grapes from a vine and snacked on them. The Oban's amused gaze flickered between her son and his familiars before going back towards her husband. Her expression softened and she found herself nodding in agreement. "Truly a dream indeed. Of course we didn't realize exactly where it would lead us but here we are today and all the happier for it. " She mused as she curled her fingers around Dexurn's hand to give it a squeeze. "We mostly live here while going to Oba whenever it is necessary."
Shadiya leaned towards her husband with an amused grin. "Our home is plenty big to house a bit of a gathering, right? Maybe we could consider allowing both of the families to meet in one place if that's what everyone would like to do?"

"Aw, what a shame." Kyril clicked her tongue in her mouth as she gave a slight shake of her head. "Well, at least you can enjoy it now. The beach is mostly private through here so please feel free to explore if you'd like. There's more than just views, the very sound of the ocean and the feeling of the sand beneath your feet is enough to relax anyone." She admitted with a small smile as she listened to her mother's proposal. If the house wasn't already chaotic enough then well....what more harm could be done?
"I've also been to Belrea while apprenticing under another artisan there. Other than Koril though most of us stick around Matori and Oba." She added to the conversation before reaching for another drink.

Koril wiggled with the warm feeling that came every time his parents looked at each other that way. Their loving voices and dreamy eyes... it was so lovely. Would he and Sol sound like that one day, talking about their past together? One could only hope! "I'd say our family has gotten pretty lucky with trips giving them something special," he crooned, nudging Sol gently. After all, if he'd never taken that first step...
"Belrea! Isn't is strange over there?" He leaned toward Kyril with interest. "I wish I could have spent more time there, but my ride refused to stay longer and I didn't want to risk getting stuck. Everything was still really new. Did you like it?"

Dex nodded lightly. "We also spent a little time in Sauti before really settling here. Shadiya's family home and dance studio is in Oba though." While his past was officially the past, he still very much preferred to keep himself in Matori and keep Oba visits minimal.
"Your family is here? Are they very far?" Then Shadiya mentioned having both families meet, and he shrank back slightly. "Is.. your family large?"

A family gathering? Sol's mouth opened a little at that, only to close on an awkward grimace. He wasn't sure exactly how the whole thing would play out, he hoped they would get along, but his family was fairly...boisterous.
"My fathers have been traveling the coasts with my three younger siblings so asking them come to meet you wouldn't be difficult. My twin twin sister and her...boyfriend, however, are traveling abroad in Belrea. My nephews are with them." Roughly in comparison his family didn't seem quite as large as Koril's but it was quickly getting there. Turning a bit toward his own boyfriend, Sol reached out to squeeze his hand with a little grin. "It would be nice for you to meet them." Returning the favor of being intimidated by a father figure would be a just reward.
Still turned to Koril, Sol thought on it for a moment and spoke. "If you'd like we could always go to Belrea. If you wanted."

"Oh yes those were the days." Reminisced Shadiya with almost a wistful sigh. Not that she minded traveling between Oba and Matori but there was something about just being on the road that was endearing....well when one wasn't on the run from a crazed uncle and others. "Maybe I should dye my hair black again for a bit." She teased quietly before raising a brow at Dexurn's reaction. A hand slinked beneath the table so that she could rub at his knee comfortingly. "If anything we can always just have a picnic on the beach since there's plenty of space outside for whoever can visit." Even if they couldn't offer beds for the night inside the manor there was always the idea of tents so that everyone could sleep under the stars for a night perhaps. And maybe the teens and children could entertain one another during the visit? Just hopefully not at the expense of their house.
"Either way I think it would be lovely for the families to meet one day. Hopefully there will be more occasions to meet up in the future for the others in Belrea." Shadiya mused with a small smile before giving Dexurn's knee a final squeeze and returning her hand to the table and grabbing a knife so that she could cut into the meat on her own plate.

Kyril grinned when she got her brother's attention. "Well you definitely missed out!" She teased before pausing to take another sip of her drink. "It was an amazing experience and I'm thankful that I got the chance to mentor overseas. I'll have to show you some of my new art pieces that I've created since returning. They have a technique that makes the glass super thin and the colors more vibrant than anything I've ever managed before." It was so delicate that it almost seemed like paper when she rolled in the smoky white coloring. One such piece she had actually curled up like parchment and inscribed her name in gold leaf which was currently sitting on a shelf in her room. Perhaps she could show Koril that one?
Her gaze turned towards Sol and she smiled as he offered her brother that chance to travel. "I'd be careful or he'll drag you all the across the world even into the new islands." Kyril joked lightly, "But in all honesty if you two do travel overseas please be careful. I can also give you some good places to visit for food and board if you stay within the main city."
