Rammie would slink behind Alestor. When the teacher got closer to him, she would back up. She didn't like being that close to someone of authority. She didn't know what would happen. Then the teacher gave them all a stern look, saying that now was the time to ask questions because on the battle field they could not.
Rammie knew that. Rammie had seen what a war could do to people. She had seen her home and everyone that she loved die as bombs rained down from the sky. She would grab Alestor's hand, as angry tears would drip down her face. She would hide her face in the back of Alestor's uniform, making it wet.
Then they were talking about underground areas, she knew something about this. She would mumble into Alestor's back. "It would depend on the ventilation. If everything fell apart, then the first thing to do would be to make sure that the air never got stale..." That would be her contribution to the conversation. Her fear and anger were causing her eyes to change color, so she would continue to hide them. tab✿. tab𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧: # 0 46 posts made tab✿. tab𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: The Holodeck tab✿. tab𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗬: Alestor tab✿. tab𝗢𝗢𝗖: tab✿. tab𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗘:Rammie
It would be difficult for the teacher with her semblance to get an accurate idea of the flooded emotions swirling through the old faunus mind, even he couldn’t get a grasp on his own emotions yet. Five years of being a emotionless doll for so long really did do a number on his personality. His own personal trial...even so his mind seemed to focus on the shaking hand of the small girl beside him tearing up hiding behind him again. Seemed just going with the flow or what he thought was going with the flow was not working. Glancing over to the teacher who was much harsher with her words then needed, then again watching the holograms and listening to the thoughts of his classmates it was all the result of humanity reaching its breaking point. Sighing Alestor tightened his grip slightly to Let Rammie know he was here like always.
Clearing his throat, he was expected to answer in some way of form so might as well get it out of the way. Thinking back on the day Atlas fell the first thing that came to mind was the emergency notice before the communication died. Once he had a chance to speak up Alestor again would raise his hand. The swirling sea of emotions for now seemed almost dead silent “ if you mean the results of the actions taken after the communication tower fell I believe that despite the lack of information being spread the local guards had managed to band together to help with the efforts of evacuating the civilians...however no one expected that Grimm had not only come from the outer sectors of atlas but they also seemed to pour out from the center of the city as well...not just flying types...ones like you spoke of we never seen before.”
Now that he thought about the way the evacuation...when did I end up dying...In one instance he remembered it the right way but something was not clicking... I was there... I know I was right...right ...hmmm!? Snapping back to reality and his face as confused as if he had just woken up.” Huh oh right fall...tunnels.” Gathering his thoughts “ Well if your asking what would end up happening if all that had happened I guess depending of the framework the military built into the tunnels...but uhh I guess they wouldn’t be designed to handle such a massive object would destroy not only the tunnels but miles upon miles of surrounding tundra...large areas icaved in from the layers of ice breaking..crumbling away...or something like that.”

█████████████████████████████████ X X tabtab❧xxtab Tanis watched the hologram play the events on loop for a few more times, his eyes were focused with almost predatory intensity on the simulations of people running underground. There was simply no way that the Atlesian military had dropped the ball that hard on emergency procedures for their city. Not only was it vastly out of character, but it seemed like a flaw that would be deeply obvious. As prideful as he had heard Atlesians to be, he simply couldn't imagine them making an oversight that colossal. "While the impact likely did impact and crush the vast majority of surface-level tunnels around the "Donut" that ferried supplies from Mantle to Atlas. I doubt that the Atlesian military was unprepared for such an outcome as the fall of their city from its airborne vantage point... I would be the least bit surprised if those tunnels were far deeper and full of far more supplies than the other nations were led to believe..." Tanis continued to watch the hologram on repeat, focusing on the Mantle tunnel systems. His gaze was like that of a predator focusing its eyes down upon prey... he was going to observe every last detail they had in this regard... ┏━━━━━━━━┓ Aurelia Hayes ┗━━━━━━━━┛ ✬Deputy Head Mistress of Beacon Academy✬ Shadow Education Minister✬
"You were told whether or not your comments were correct Miss. Hakusia. You first suggested Atlas was also known as Mantle and was military-oriented. I explained in great detail that the Kingdom was previously called Mantle before being renamed Atlas and why it was seen as military-oriented. You then theorized a delay in protocol had lead to Atlas being unprepared and I explained in great detail how such a delay meant the cities were likely lost before any attempts to fight back were made." Aurelia seemed truly perplexed that Negina didn't know if her previous answers were correct or not. If she couldn't infer from Aurelia's responses perhaps they were all in much more trouble than she thought.
It was hard to get a read on Alestor. Fear, anger, sadness, a sense of protectiveness as he comforted Rammie. Some sort of hollowness not unlike Jannet. All tainted by the trembling Faunus behind his back. Satisfied, she stepped away from them once more. Experiencing someone else's emotions so directly was uncomfortable. Each of the students spoke up this time, providing theories and suggestions to what might have happened. "Much like the Grimm invasion itself, we have very little information to go from. Simulations have been created for the most likely outcomes, but I cannot guarantee this is what you will find when we reach Atlas." There was a slight pause, as Aurelia seemed to debate her next words. A small glimpse at her softer side perhaps. "I know these simulations can be difficult to watch, but you must be prepared for what you are likely to find in Atlas."
She addressed Negina's theory first, blue eyes meeting the girl sawing away at her nails with a file. They would be down the nub if she kept that up. "Refugees reported small groups travelling towards Atlas city and Mantle. They mostly comprised of those who had loved ones in one of the two cities, determined to try to rescue them. As far as we know, none of them have made it Vale. With the Kingdom's capital and military stronghold gone, the remaining military focused on evacuating as many people as possible and bolstering their current locations. If any reinforcements were sent in an official capacity, we are unaware of it." She paused slightly before adding. "So you are likely correct that no reinforcements made it."
Alestor then raised his hand, and Aurelia nodded slightly towards him. First, he repeated something she had already stated about the guards helping to evacuate citizens even without communication, before suggesting the Grimm sprung up from the middle of the city. Grimm never seen before. It would be difficult to address without bringing attention to his strange history. Rammie of course knew, and there wasn't anything particularly nefarious about it, but she wanted to allow Alestor to choose who he shared it with. She hated giving a less than satisfactory answer. "I implore you all to seek out Professor Lysander for information on Grimm indigenous to Atlas. However, if the rumours are to be believed, you may encounter Grimm which we have no information on. Do not charge blindly. Use caution and your wits."
Finally, it was time to address the bunkers. "Atlas likely stayed in the air for a few days after the initial assault before running out of gravity dust. No one from the capital or Mantle has made it Vale after the group of initial evacuations, so there is a possibility, however slight, that Atlas is still floating. I must express how unlikely this is, as, without a populace to mine and transport gravity dust, the city did not have enough stores to last this long. These are major operations that could not take place without the Grimm's notice." She tapped her tablet and the hologram set into motion once more, showing the city falling from the sky. A shockwave moved out swiftly, levelling buildings and cracking the ice and earth which made up the ground. The surface was devastated, much as Alestor had described. Then rings showed up, red closest to the impact, followed by orange and green. "Those in the red zone likely died immediately. The orange zone would have experienced problems such as Miss. Singlehorn described. Ventilation systems would have been disturbed, others may have lost their means of egress or faced partial collapses. The green zone should have come out relatively unscathed, though whether they were successful in surviving for the last six years is another question entirely. This is solely based on the information we have available, so Mr. Vallendashk could be entirely correct. There might be many more survivors than is believed."
"It is important to consider how obvious some things are in hindsight, and that the idea of the Kingdom of Atlas failing to stop a Grimm invasion so completely, and the floating city falling from the sky was largely unfathomable at the time. Now, please tell me why knowing all of this information is important to you as future huntsmen and to Vale civilization as large?"

█████████████████████████████████ X X tabtab❧xxtab Tanis didn't even skip a breath when Aurelia asked why the information was important. His mother had fled from Vacuo, his entire life she'd been training him how to survive without a kingdom or a people in the event that Vale fell as well. "Because Vale isn't any less Vulnerable than the other three kingdoms were. Between Vale and Menagerie, we're arguably even more vulnerable than they are simply due to how sparsely populated our kingdom is. The walls are strong, and the Grimm around here are relatively sedate compared to Solitas or the deep ocean... But we're effectively a big target marker. Especially since the entire kingdom is fighting itself more than we're fighting the Grimm." He stepped back from the center point of the projection and simply got back into line. Tanis had answered the question as best he knew, he had no current questions about Atlas, and he had nothing further to add to the conversation without making it divisive. x x x x xxxxxxxxxxxLOCATIONxThe HolodeckxxxCOMPANYXAurelia, Nejina, Rammie, AlestorxxxPOST-COUNTxForteen/14

Rammie would keep her hand in the back of Alestor. She wanted to look up at the hologram, but she couldn't show that she had partially gone into her demon form. Her mind was rearing from the information. Was that the reason while Vale killed them all?
Under her skirt, a small goat tail made of aura would appear. It would start to wag, making her skirt move. Is this why they didn't have a home, because Vale couldn't afford for them to have any form of land. They couldn't afford to not have slaves?! An aura horn would start to poke Alestor in the back. Before she could speak, Alestor would turn and smoosh her face into his chest, trying to calm her down. She would be mumbled in asking about the Demon wars. tab✿. tab𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧: # 0 47 posts made tab✿. tab𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: The Holodeck tab✿. tab𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗬: Alestor, Tanis, Aurelia, Nejina. tab✿. tab𝗢𝗢𝗖: tab✿. tab𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗘:Rammie
Alestor probably could of been more discreet but as his teacher pointed out hindsight was always easy after the fact. Keeping rammie close like this seemed like the best idea at the time...besides just from having a front row seat to that time..unable to to turn away, for having the ability to even shut his dolls eyes... Before getting sucked into his own head once again. He figured this teacher would understand seeing from observing her mannerism, those quick responses to not only his but the other students temperaments. Besides if Rammie went into a fit things would of probably ended up with the holodeck in shambles and that just seemed abit to expensive to pay for.
Looking up a moment and without skipping a beat Alestor would answer the teachers question. He seemed to act normal as if a horn wasnt jammed into him though he hadnt even noticed nor did he seem to react much to the teachers explanation about the floating city...his home had fallen killing who knows how many more on mantle. He knew it should of been upsetting..yet.. " In my opinion i believe by understanding what caused the fall in the first place was a its own pride. To proud to see the faults in their own security, to proud to see fault in their own hierarchy.... Learning from the mistakes and adapting from where....Atlas failed. Saving life is a hunters job. Though i do not agree with the notion being part of a large group such as the military would inhibit hunters from doing their job....eheheh sorry off topic..." Clearing his throat Alestor continued on though he decided to keep his statement brief. " As hunters and presented with these facts i suppose the most important lesson is to learn humility and to adapt in grievous situations for the sake of the citizens we protect. "
┏━━━━━━━━┓ Aurelia Hayes ┗━━━━━━━━┛ ✬Deputy Head Mistress of Beacon Academy✬ Shadow Education Minister✬
Tanis and Alestor both made excellent points. She felt an unexpected glimmer of hope. Perhaps at least these two would take forward the lessons of the past. "Excellent work Mr. Vallendashk and Mr Rosestien. It is important for Vale to never believe it is invincible, but to be vigilant in looking for ways our enemy can defeat us. Additionally, we cannot rely on physical defences and combat prowess. Both are necessary, but as Atlas proved, are not enough on their own. These are trying times, with so many refugees crammed into one city. People from different cultures, races and means must all co-exist or we will tear each other apart. As future huntsmen, each of you must act as a leader, not just in fighting Grimm, but in displaying compassion and humility for people who may not look like you or share your beliefs. People you may despise. And lastly, we must all use our wits. To adapt to the situation at hand, to find solutions to the problems which face us and to act when called upon."
Rammie still had her head buried in Alestor's back and Aurelia wondered how she would get through survival class or combat, much less visiting Atlas. She would need to make a note that Miss Singlehorn was not recommended to be among the first who crossed the ocean. "Do you have something you would like to add Miss Singlehorn?" Aurelia heard the muffled sound of the girl saying something, but even with her above-average hearing, she couldn't make out the words. Last came Negine, who did not answer the question, though Aurelia was not sure why. Unlike Rammie and Alestor, she did not seem phased by the images shown. "What about you Miss Hakusia? There must be something you can learn from the history of Atlas. Those who fail to learn are doomed to repeat the past. If we do not learn from the other Kingdoms, we will join them."
A few clicks on her tablet brought up the Kingdom of Vale. Hopefully a much less distressing view for Rammie and Alestor. "I want each of you to come up with one thing the Vale Council could do, and one thing you could do, to improve the security of Vale from meeting a similar fate as Atlas."

Oy vey, her head was sore. All of this new knowledge being forcefully crammed into one's head, with almost repeated question, made it difficult to initiate proper theories. Nejina could only admit to herself, that while the headmistress had points to earlier words, the matter of giving people time to let the information sink in was another thing entirely. Some lessons were easy to come by. Large speeches, with too much in one go... That was more troubling on her end to try and properly pick up onto. "Not my fault she talks in big parts..." Keeping the comment to herself, she had put in as much as she could have already. It was why, when the talk on the bunkers, and the ventilations had occurred, she had stayed silent. Even as the question on how all of this was important, has she remained silent, just sticking to listening. That, and the blubbering annoyance of the other girl in the room was driving her mad, with her sniffling like a fool behind the faunus man's back. How could one think straight with that blubbering near by? This was a class, not a babysitting service. Whatever was going on there, she didn't want to know at all. All she wanted at this point was just to go buy a crepe, or find some eggs benedict for a snack. Things weren't that easy however.
Having been wanting to remain silent even more, the silence was forced to end, when Aurelia had called her out on that very silence. Something she could learn from Atlas, and this downfall? Aurelia had practically said the answer she would have given already, which only shortened out the list of ideas. Tannis had already spouted on their own current land being just as in danger of following the footsteps of Atlas, while the babysitter for the young woman was talking on humility, and learning from mistakes. Who knew what on earth the blubbering one was saying. Could have been anything from A to Z. Her own answer had to be said now? Just great.... At least, with what she had chosen on, there was some truth to it from her own experiences. "If I truly am to express what could be more personal for me, and say anything on this... Is that the mightiest can fall, even under the crushing weight of what could be more. History all together... I can suffice... would be, that despite preparation, a single misstep... One, tiny step out of line... Can cause the butterfly effect to proceed. Despite on wanting to avoid deja vu, one single mark in our lives can occur the butterfly effect, and lead us astray to follow the foot steps of the past. One must ensure to take a piece of the past, and see what they can do for themselves, in order to survive. A true survivor of history could benefit by taking the most important facts, and working with them to change their pace, and potentially keep history from intertwining with what should be the future. Basically, ergo, what I have learned from this is that if I am not careful on my choices down the road, I could be crushed under the might of history to drag me down, if I am not prepared or ready to make sure I avoid repetitive actions... " Ever the riddles in her words, whether she made sense or not, she had tried to simplify in the end regardless. Ending that long spectacle with a polite, ladylike smile of innocence, she was glad they had proceeded onto something else. The change from Atlas to Vale on the map had returned her attention to the headmistress once more, as she had been thrown with what had sounded like a two part question this time to answer. One thing the council could do, and one thing they themselves could do... Oddly enough, some idea had hit, and ever trying to be a model student, she had brought up what she could think of, with a small gesture of her hand to have permission to speak. "For the council, only idea I could say is to make a few reinforcement camps outside in the midst of the edge of lands, with commanders specializing in either telepathic related or messenger specialty semblances to take control to ensure something can get through should the dangers occur. As for something I, myself could do, I would say to better prepare for the worst of it all, and ensure my skills are honed enough to be able to assist ridding the kingdom of all the monsters trying to kill us all~. Aside from that, I should take the lessons of today, and carry them with me through the mitigations of improving security with any futuristically related ideas the military may have never thought of before~."

Rammie could feel her anger still building up. She needed to calm down. It didn't help that the aura tail would be swaying much like a dogs under her skirt. Then the teacher asked if there was anything she wanted to say. Rammie almost took her face out of the back of Alestor. Then she realized that Nibbie would be mad if she said anything. Nibbie must already be mad at her since she hadn't come home in a long time.
"I don't have anything to add..." The sadness in her was more than it was before. Thankfully the horn stabbing Alestor would go away. Then they would ask what they could do to help in case the same thing happened to Vale. Vale was home right now, so she needed to help. "Maybe set up a separate communication system? Like a case of emergency one? █████████████████████████████████ X X tabtab❧xxtab Tanis took a few moments to think about Headmistress Aurelia's question. He already knew what he was going to say about what the council could do... But what could he do? Taking the time to ponder it... He eventually decided what he was going to say. "On a personal level? I could afford to be a lot more vigilant of possible threats hiding in Vale itself... From what I've heard, we've taken a lot more hits from domestic terrorism and internal conflict than we have from Grimm lately. As for what the council could do... Well, I was going to suggest they could try and do something to actually Unify Vale instead of letting dissent and hatred fester as they have for decades, but that's not going to happen. So on a more practical level, they could improve the quality of life for the citizens of Vale so the people are fed, their living conditions are fair, and they don't need to be afraid to leave their houses." He took a moment to think of how to summarize before saying. "Simply put... Happy people don't join terrorist organizations. Happy people don't Attract Grimm..." He had a helluva a lot more to say about how bad the situation in Vale was, but he got the vibe that two of the other three students only cared about Atlas and that the other student didn't care about anything. The Headmistress was basically in league with the Headmaster when it came to all activities. And since the headmaster was on the Council, he had reason to figure that by association, She similarly didn't really give a damn about the actual prosperity of Vale. Alestor tried thinking about the council of vale but since he only recently gained the ability to learn more about his surroundings he hasn’t seen much of the council’s action and influence. Instead he just simply thought of something.” I suppose if I had to change anything about the current state I think maybe I’d change I’d put a higher focus on security. Make it to were the less desirable types have a harder time taking what belongs to its people which could flow into mr tanis and Lady Rammie suggested seeing as stopping the causes of our supply chains failing to deliver aid and supplies through Vale. So as I said before I don’t believe incorporation of hunters into the military is not a bad idea of course I’m not suggesting all hunters join but even those here can’t disagree that teaching the common soldier tactics and methods hunters use to fight the Grimm seems like a rather effective method on improving security. from the lesser then subtle clues humans seemed to be the bigger issue then Grimm…how do they say different place same problems, perhaps it woul be a better idea to separate himself from this place…..no no no I still have things I must do… who knows perhaps in another 50 or hundred years the state of the world may improve…or it will finally end. Either way Alestor seemed content in his own weird way.
┏━━━━━━━━┓ Aurelia Hayes ┗━━━━━━━━┛ ✬Deputy Head Mistress of Beacon Academy✬ Shadow Education Minister✬
Perhaps this class was not a waste of time for Negina. "Excellent Miss. Hakusia." Aurelia answered once the girl finished speaking about what she had learned from history class. "To put it simply, there is always someone stronger, faster or more clever than yourselves. To believe yourself infallible or invulnerable is the quickest way to be defeated." With a tap of her tablet, the hologram went dark, leaving them in the black room with blue lines.
"Decentralizing our forces is certainly a good idea, though it is not without its risks. The pro's, of course, being a Grimm invasion would not wipe out the majority of our forces in one attack. The cons are risking spreading our forces too thin and needing to spend our very limited resources protecting these outposts. And of course, being able to use semblances to bypass the faults of technology would be excellent, but again we run into problems. Only a small portion of the population knows their semblance, so finding people with specific capabilities might be impossible. And if found they might not be suitable for the job. For your homework, I want you to consider any other pros and cons you can think of for your suggestion and how the council might practically put it into action. In addition, I want one example of how you have carried the lessons from today with you."
With Negina given her homework, Aurelia turned her attention to Rammie, who was still hiding behind Alestor. Combat class was certainly going to be interesting for her. "A backup system! I believe this builds on wonderfully with Miss. Hakusia's suggestions. No plan survives first contact after all. However, if the second system is exactly the same as the current one, it will fall to the same methods as the current. For your assignment Miss Singlehorn, I want you to consider the potential faults in our current communication system and how an emergency system might avoid those faults. Perhaps something that doesn't rely on scrolls at all? Additionally, since you haven't suggested something you can do personally, I'll expect a submission on that topic along with one example of how you carried it out."
Then came Mr. Vallendashk who seemed to have a rather idealistic view of the world. The young always thought the world's problems were easily solved if only someone cared. Only they didn't realize people did care and were doing their best with what they had. "Vale is certainly plagued by more threats besides Grimm. Some may argue much more sinister threats. However, what would you do if you come across such a threat? Say if you felt someone was acting suspiciously? Would you call the police, follow them, or confront them? Vigilance is important, but action must accompany it. The council make many efforts to try to unify the people of Vale. The Minister of Labour advocates for the working class in an attempt to make sure they are treated fairly. The Minister of Foreign Affairs works with the refugees and the other ministers to provide food and shelter for those from fallen kingdoms. The Minister of Culture hosts events such as the upcoming fire festival to give everyone something to celebrate and encourage charitable donations and attempts to make those from other cultures feel included in Vale. Vale has taken on a massive number of refugees, along with losing much of its previously held land to the Grimm. Blackouts roll across the city as we do not have the dust to supply continuous power to nonessential services. Many Beacon students volunteer their time to patrol the agricultural district to protect our limited food supply from Grimm, and much effort has been put into maximizing crop output. Simply put, the council cannot simply fabricate resources. For your assignment I want you to write a paper on how you would feed and improve the living conditions of the refugees in Vale with the resources available to us. Detail any pros and cons involved with how you would enact this, along with one example of yourself being vigilant and what actions you took." The truth was as the last Kingdom standing they had a lot of people with needs and not a lot of resources to give out. The council knew the situation was bad and did their best with what was available to them.
Lastly came Alestor. "After recent events which people are referring to as The Purge, I don't think any can argue security is an issue, though perhaps Mr. Vallendashk would argue the riot wouldn't have happened if there was less unrest. Security comes at a cost though. You would need to hire and train more personal or pull officers off of the wall. There is also the cost to personal freedoms. I think few would be okay with the military watching them closely to make sure they aren't Crimson Fang or the Tribe. For your assignment I want you to submit a paper on what security measures you would enact, and what pros and cons exist for these actions. Much like Miss Singlehorn you also haven't suggested something you can do personally so I will expect a submission on the topic as well as one action you took."
"You will all have two weeks to submit your papers. Oh and Miss Negina, please borrow a mop from the janitor and clean up your nail filing."

Rammie would listen to the class from her head behind Alestor. It seemed like her idea for a backup system was good, however the homework was not! Rammie didn't know anything about electronics, how was she going to design a system that was different from the other one when she didn't even know what the first system was like. Oh, she had made a mistake and suggesting that. She would let out an audible groan.
Oh, and she had to figure out something too that she could personally do?! Oh no no no no no, how is she going to do that when she was technically part of the social issue in Vale? She aand her kind were oppressed here, press ganged into services, kept his slaves. They were worked to death? What else could they do to make things better here without Vale itself changing the way it wanted to work things?
She also had to write two papers, how was she going to do that? Why wasn't Nibbie here to help her? She would reply with a ”yes ma'am.” And then Alestor started to move she would move.
However before she even left the class her phone would notify her that she had a message. She would pull up the message and around her aura would swirl as she read it. “I hope you are reading this and I’m right next to you to tell you that everything is alright, but I am being hunted by a demon with a horrifying transformation. Please stay safe and do not let him find you, I can’t let anything bad happen to you, not after everything we have been through. I’ll see you soon sis.”” What was she going to do? She couldn't do both the papers and save Nibbie?! Well one thing that she could do is write a paper about her having to save her sister. Anger filled the little goat as she left the room and a horn made of aura appearing on her head, her canines elongating, and her eyes the most radiant pink that anyone had ever seen as they glowed with Aura. Her demeanor changed from the shy little girl to an angry demon, bent on revenge.
